Back in time for holiday use!

With a much used lens out of action and a holiday looming, I contacted Fixation and arranged to deliver my lens to my location Wex store. Thankfully the repair was completed quickly (and less than the anticipated fee) and returned directly to me before we left on holiday! A very positive experience for me!

Simply Superb!

Simply Superb. From requesting a repair to receiving back my equipment. Every part of the process ran very smoothly. Was kept up to date on how things were progressing from when the parts were ordered to completing the repair to delivery back to me. The very kindly returned my equipment a week later than scheduled as I was away and there was no one to take in the delivery In my absence. My equipment was delivered back on the date agreed even down to an hour time slot. My equipment is now like new and works perfectly again. Will be definitely sending my equipment repairs back to fixation in the future and will highly recommend their services to everyone. First class certainly comes as standard.

Great repair service but could do a little better with updates on progress

I sent in my Sony RX100 V for repair due to a stuck lens zoom mechanism. It was promptly diagnosed, and a list of the parts needed for repair and a cost estimate provided. I approved the estimate and the repair job was started quickly. Understandably, there was a short delay whilst the parts were ordered.

The camera was repaired carefully, arrived back securely packaged, and is now fully operational. The repair cost was as stated in the estimate, plus the cost of returning the item to me. From repair approval to receiving the camera back took just over a month.

The service provided overall was very good, but if there is one thing to improve it would be communicating updates on progress. During the repair process, I did not receive any indication on how things were progressing or when the repair would be complete. After a month, I contacted Fixation to find out how things were going and then they were able to give an expected completion date.

First class service

I went into the showroom to ask about a problem I was having with a lens. The staff quickly explained that it was how I was using the lens with the camera. I then asked about a separate matter, which required the lens to be left and a quote would be given. As it transpired it required a broken part to be replaced and the lens recalibrated.
I decided to go ahead once the quote was received albeit not cheap but not unexpected for a Nikon lens.
The whole process took a few weeks and I was pleasantly surprised the final cost was much less than the original quote when they could have easily stuck to the original quote.
My dealings with Fixation have always been first class and the repairs have restored the lens to what I anticipated, thank you for a great job.

Like brand new

Couldn't have been easier to send my camera and lens off for a service. Dropped it off at a shop in Leeds and everything else was taken care of. Very communicative and the website/status page was incredibly informative. Received my camera and lens back, very safely and securely repackaged and it's geniunely like brand new ! Couldn't recommend the service enough

EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE

EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE - a repair part cost £15 to replace but the bill came to just over £220. When I called up to find out what the delay was, I was told no parts are in stock only then to find out 10mins later they had opened the wrong account 🤷🏽‍♂️. The camera has come back and it sometimes takes a long time to switch in- all original batteries.

Regarding the repair cost, while the replacement part itself was relatively inexpensive, due to its construction the repair required a complete disassembly of the camera to gain access to the damaged component. The labour involved in carrying out the repair safely and reassembling and testing the camera accounts for the majority of the cost. Our estimates always provide a full breakdown of parts and labour before any work is undertaken, and customers are under no obligation to proceed. We also do not charge for our inspection and estimate service if the repair is declined.

With regard to your telephone enquiry, we have spoken to the member of staff involved. They recall initially looking at a different repair after mishearing the repair number. They confirmed the model they were viewing with you, and it was only when the information being discussed did not match that they realised you were referring to a different repair. Once the correct repair number was given, the job was located, it was confirmed that the required parts were now in stock, and the repair was subsequently completed six working days ahead of the original target date.

We are sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue with the camera switching on. All of our repairs are covered by a six-month warranty. If you believe the problem is related to the repair we carried out, please contact us and we will be happy to inspect the camera again under the terms of the warranty.

Fast and Reliable Repair Service

We had a lens which needed to be repaired and serviced. The staff in the store were friendly and knowledgeable when we presented the faulty lens. They were able to assess the damage and sent the equipment off for repair. It didn't take long for the equipment to be repaired and returned.

Lens was repaired but poor communication

I’m not sure why this says unprompted when I clicked on a link that was sent to me asking to leave a review!

Repair itself was done well (as far as I am aware so far anyway).

Communication was awful though. The estimate came through pretty quickly which was good but turns out they hadn’t done a complete check. On the latest day by which my lens should have been repaired, I emailed to ask when I could collect, I was told tomorrow which was fine. Later that day another email came through that just said click here to see your updated estimate. I opened it to find my estimate had trebled from nearly £400 to £1200! No explanation. I eventually found out that when they had begun the repair, they found further faults with the part. I feel like if an estimate is going to increase by that much, maybe this is something that should be discussed on the phone before sending an email like that out of the blue! I was told when the new required part arrived, I would be emailed a new collection date and would be informed of any delays. I emailed after the 10 working days to find out what the situation was, I was told the part had arrived but the technician was on annual leave, and did apologise for not informing of the delay.
I also asked for the broken parts to be returned when I collected my lens, which they agreed and this was on my repair notes. They were not available on collection, the lady on the desk found one bit and was told I would be sent the second part … 2 weeks on, no follow up email and still waiting for the second broken part to arrive with me!

Lens dropped off 14th May and collected 30th June

It won’t let me reply to your response so just to clarify - unusual request or not, you confirmed you would give me the parts back (I assume that they actually belong to me as I bought the lens!) so your response to this is redundant - this was a fault on your behalf. No one explained that the part you gave me was in the bin and no one notified me I couldn’t have the other part. I was told it would be mailed to me?! Once again poor communication- I had to be told because I’d left you a bad review? Would you have emailed me to tell me you threw the part away - because I have had nothing from you?

I didn’t say I couldn’t reject the new estimate, I was pointing out that you said I could collect the lens and then the next thing I got that day was a tripled estimate with no explanation. For the amount we pay I would expect much better customer service. The Wex store itself is good so why does this not continue onto the repair service?

Thank you for taking the time to update your review. We are pleased to hear that the repair itself met your expectations, but we are sorry that the communication during the process fell short.

Our initial estimates are non-invasive and are based on the fault as it presents before dismantling. In some cases, particularly where there is internal physical damage, further faults are only identified once replacement parts have been fitted or the repair progresses. Unfortunately, this can occasionally result in a re-estimate if the damage is more extensive than originally identified. We fully appreciate that such a significant increase in cost can come as a shock.

Due to the volume of repairs we process, all estimates and re-estimates are issued automatically through our repair system. Unless the technician specifically asks our customer service team to contact the customer directly, we are often unaware that a re-estimate has been generated. We agree that, in cases where there is a substantial increase in cost, a phone call would have provided better context, and we will review this internally.

We also apologise that you were not updated when the additional part arrived and for the delay caused while the technician was on annual leave. We understand this was frustrating and should have been communicated more clearly.

Regarding the return of the replaced parts, this is a very unusual request. Although your request was correctly noted on the repair, the removed parts were not set aside by the technician. When you collected your lens, we were able to recover one component from the technician's scrap bin. Unfortunately, we later discovered that the remaining part had already been collected by our recycling contractor and could no longer be retrieved. We sincerely apologise for this.

We would also like to clarify that customers are never under any obligation to accept a re-estimate. If the revised cost is no longer acceptable, we will reassemble the equipment, where applicable, and return it without proceeding with the additional work.

Finally, regarding the "unprompted" wording on Trustpilot, this relates to how Trustpilot classifies the review, not whether you were invited by us to leave one. As your invitation came from us rather than directly from Trustpilot, the review is categorised by Trustpilot as "unprompted". Unfortunately, this classification is determined by Trustpilot's system and is not something we can change.

My Sony RX100M7 had a fault with the…

My Sony RX100M7 had a fault with the flash unit, I've owned the camera for five years and wanted to repair rather than replace the camera. The Sony website suggested Fixation as a repair partner, so I contacted them, filled out a form explaining the issue and received an almost immediate estimate.

They will arrange the delivery to them, all you need to do is pack it up and send it off. Once they received it they lowered the estimate based on the exploration of the camera, they feed back through an email and send you a link to approve the repair cost.

They don't hold all the parts for the cameras that they repair, so some time is expected while they order the replacement parts. Unfortunately the first part didn't fix the issue and they needed to order more parts. They kept me informed via email and sent a revised cost for approval, this was just under the original estimate.

They did a really nice job, the camera came back fully working and clean, they also removed dust that had been sucked into the lens when it extends, I could see this in the images.

I'm really happy with the repair and the service received and should anything else happen to my camera I won't hesitate to send it to them.

Very happy with my experience with…

Very happy with my experience with Fixation. My lens was with them for a while due to money being tight, there was no issues. Once I had the cash to start the repair it was done and sent back asap and the results were amazing! And at a fair price too.

Failed Shutter replacement

I sent the camera off for repair after the shutter had failed and it came back in perfect working order a couple of weeks later.
