Tenants Beware
I’m not someone to speak ill of anyone, but the stress and anxiety I went through as a result of the actions of this organisation were too great for me not to post a reasonable recollection of the experience, and why I will never rent a property with Rentfresh again.
My experiences as a tenant with Rentfresh were extremely unpleasant and unprofessional on their part. The house we rented was unclean in many places upon our entry inspection, and with many marks and structural issues that were surprisingly absent from their entry condition report. The agent we were in contact with was condescending, rude and on the defensive in many of our dealings with her. The lease information we were provided upon signing up contained passages that contravened the RTA’s renters rights legislation. Also, upon vacating, we were hit with an extremely unreasonable list of demands to return our bond. As we were in a rush to move and already dealing with pandemic stress, we resigned to complete the requests rather than argue further.
Tenants be wary of any properties leased by Rentfresh! If you peruse their website and their Google reviews, it’s clear they don’t have your best interests at heart. Many of the positive reviews are from landlords, and many popped up around the same time arousing suspicion in me that they have encouraged any client with a good rapport to review bomb them to raise their standing. I suspect from other honest reviews of their service on this site and the few on Google, and the responses received back from the owner of the organisation, that he is a particularly litigious type who would go after any negative press with the threat of a defamation lawsuit if he could, hence my decision to remain anonymous.
If I had it over again I would have gone elsewhere to begin with as I personally do not want to have to endure another similar renting experience in the future, and can only caution any other prospective tenants from leasing a property with them, based on my own experiences. I only gave one star because I couldn’t give zero.
