Rent4u Rome thieves

Stay far away from these scammers. Charged me an extra $60 because I was late 1 hour due to traffic. Also charged me $100 for 5 liters of gas that I was short because there are no gas stations near airport. Beware of budget companies like this one because you think you are saving money but in the long run they will steal enough from you so that you spend more. Use reputable American companies only.

Booked a car through discover cars on Rent4U

Booked a car through discover cars on rent4u. Tried to charge me for a bigger security deposit than what I was told. Finally, they accepted the amount I was informed by discover cars.
The people who delivered the car weren't speaking very good English so I spent a lot of time trying to understand everything.
They told me to refill in diesel and adblue before delivering the car because in case I didn't they would charge me administrative fees 35€ plus the cost of fuel and adblue!!
When I returned the car, I filled it up with diesel and I asked for a refill in adblue from the gas station staff. They open a bottle of 10 liters(!), 2-3 liters in the car and told me to pay 35€ (!) for the whole bottle, because it was "opened now"!
When I informed the rental company that I left a more than half full bottle of adblue in the trunk, and I would like a partial refund they told me that I didn't have a deductable receipt, but a simple one(!!).
They could cover the adblue cost since it isn't as essential or expensive like fuel, between rentals...
All in all, my trip to Italy with a rental car was a stressful and annoying experience with people that work with foreigners and don't speak English and people are trying to scam you everywhere (extra fees and such).
Won't be using Rent4U again...

I rented a car for 18 days in Italy

I rented a car for 18 days in Italy. They gave me first of all a very old vehicle and a audio system which did not work well with Bluetooth. I bought full insurance with them but when I needed Road side assistance , the assistance number did not work I had to call the SOS provided by the government which worked perfectly. The rent4u company then says because you did not use our company's inhouse tolling service - the cost of the tolling will be incurred by me at EUR 150 and the car tryes replacement is not covered too when it was deemed that their spare tyre in the boot is not Road safe and worthy. I had to buy my own new tyres.

I think this company is really a scam. Do not use this company as they do not care about your family safety.

Great service and trouble free rental

I rented from Rent4U at Rome Fiumicino airport in August. The Dutch agent who dealt with pickup was very helpful indeed. She supplemented the information from the company with helpful tips about parking in Italy (how to avoid getting fined) and understood what a foreigner needed to know. She checked the condition of the car with me to make sure the record of dents and scratches was correct. The car itself was in excellent condition. I returned the car a week later without seeing anyone from Rent4U as the return desk and main rental desk was unmanned, all without problem. I would use Rent4U again.

Warning - Car hire desk closed!

Rent4U was the ONLY car hire desk closed in Rome airport - despite being advertised as open until 9pm.
During half term week, the busiest in the last 2 years - of course flights will be delayed - however, this was of no consequence to Rent4U - who decided to close and go home early despite a booking. The help number just goes through to the desk which was closed!. When we eventually found another phone number on their website - the operator said it was tough - they only wait 1 hour max - and we should have called to say we were late even though we were on a plane!
Looking at the other reviews - it seems like we were not the only ones to have a similar experience.

About Rent4U

About Rent4U

From Monday the 14th of March at 10:00 and 3 weeks onwards we had ordered and prepaid a middle class car in the rental company “Rent4U” from the airport in Rome and back.

When we Ca. with 2 hours delay reached the counter, we were told that the company had rented the car to another side due to the delay, after all they had then sent an email and called us, but who receives calls and emails along the way on the plane. And if you have rented a car from a certain time, you expect the car to be there - even if you arrive two hours later!

After a long and awkward talk with the employee at the counter, we finally got another and somewhat more expensive car. We went through it with the company representative and got photo-documented several damages around the car.

3 weeks later we then handed the car in the garage again. An elderly gentleman greeted us, took over the key and looked for the car for damage, he found no new ones and we got a “thumbs up” sign, after which we left the garage.

After all, we had deposited a deposit in case of damage of 1800 euros, and about 3 weeks after we had returned home, the company had then suddenly deducted 300 euros from this deposit to repair damage.

Of course, I will not accept that, as we have not done any damage to the car. But despite several complaints and protests (among other things, sent my photos of the car when we took it over), the company has still neither refunded the amount nor regretted the course. Therefore, I have decided to post this post on Trustpilot to warn others about Rent4U Rental Company's robbery methods.
