I ordered 2 patterns
I ordered 2 patterns, which were substantially cheaper than Ihave seen anywhere else, on Wednesday evening and they arrived only a couple of days later. They were well packaged and came with a thankyou note.

I have done two sewing classes here and I can't wait to do more!! The teachers are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable - I had so much fun doing the classes. I have also been in the shop a few times and could spend all day browsing through the patterns and fabric. The staff are lovely and helped me out with picking the best bits I need as a beginner. Love this shop and it's always great to learn a new hobby!
I attended an amazing beginners class yesterday at Ray Stitch, I am so impressed how quickly we learnt how to make a tote bag and a skirt, and nobody in the class had ever used a sewing machine before. It was really good fun, and so great to walk away with a new skill set which we can continue to build on. Our tutor was so patient and explained everything as many times as we needed to understand. Brilliant course. Highly recommend if you like me are a bit scared of trying new things. Lots of courses available depending on your level of experience. Great fabric & patterns in the shop too.
Watch out! They specifically sell things by the half meter to make their prices look cheaper. On most fabric websites 1 unit of the fabric is 1 meter and 0.5 units is half a meter, with it automatically set to 1 and you click + or - to adjust this if you want less. The description on their listings (in the small print) states that they sell fabric by the half meter but have set up the purchase system so that at first glance it looks like you’re buying one 1 meter when in fact you’re only buying half that. Won’t buy from them again as I find this a sneaky tactic to look cheaper and wouldn’t want to get caught out again.
I will never shop here again. The staff are shockingly rude. They are mean-spirited, patronising and obstructively unhelpful. Their goal appears to be to alienate customers as much as possible. Small requests for tiny samples of fabric are met with pedantic and ungenerous obstructiveness. They do not seem to understand that small gestures of politeness, good will and generosity are an investment in customer happiness and loyalty, and therefore an investment in future good business. After shopping here many times I have given up on them - they have never nurtured my customer happiness and have totally undermined my customer loyalty. What a way to run a business!
I had been buying quite lot from this shop over the years but no longer! When the fabric I ordered arrived it had a very strong smell of mothballs. I tried washing, putting in the sun, etc.
When I emailed Raystitch, I didn;t get an apology. Sam told me "We do not normally accept returns on fabric but on this occasion we will make an exception. We cannot refund your payment as it wasn’t sent via our website but we can issue you a gift card for the appropriate amount."
I had to point out that under statutory consumer rights I was entitled to a refund before I received my money back.
Not a word of apology.
Needless to say I will never buy from this shop again.
And now that I have read the reviews about racism I regret I ever spent a penny!

I ordered three fabric swatches, and I received them the next day, with postage free of charge because Ray-Stitch give a standard code to allow this for swatches.
I ordered half a metre of one of the fabrics as a result, and a pack of needles. My order was completed by email at 10.35am on that day, and both items arrived the next day with our postman.
Very unpleasant experience with staff. When asking for a help I was faced with a very judgmental look. I tried to get some swatches for a project I’m working on and staff were reluctant to even give me a small sample, even just for a colour reference.
Will not be returning as my other experiences with fabric shops across London have proven to be far more helpful and thoughtful than the staff at this store.
Great range of darning wool but the postage cost more than the 3 little card reams I bought. I was charged £5.50 for postage and they could easily have been posted in a small envelope at the fraction of the cost. (I do realise I could have bought elsewhere but it was such a good range of colours)
EXCELLENT tuition and a great space to learn all sorts of tailoring techniques.
I went to a workshop with a friend and we both had a great time. We had both been sewing for a while, but needed a bit of help beyond a youtube video explanation in really mastering a few tailoring techniques. The tuition was patient, knowledgeable and done at variable pace for everyone in the group. The space is great and the refreshments much appreciated!
Having the shop right above is dangerous because you end up wanting to make everything right now. :-)
I would heartily recommend the workshops and courses even for advanced sewers.
