Do not get caught out by these scammers - They promise for a rate reduction, pressurise to the extreme, eventually you will receive an invoice no matter what!

Rates and Rental contested our business rates last year and a reduction was achieved, which we were very pleased with. In March this year we received an unexpected increase in our business rates due to the Valuation Office making a huge error by adding in our next door neighbour and an area of land that does not belong to us on to our valuation. I knew this was a mistake but I could not get any satisfactory answers from the council or the rates office. We were also told we were not eligible for any Covid Government grant due to the 'increase' in our value and the council having their hands tied! I contacted Rates and Rental and they got to work on it right away. It took the Valuation Office close to 2 months to settle but I am happy to say that it was completed in our favour and through the help of Rates and Rental we were finally granted the covid grant I believed we were eligible for in the first place.

We found them very helpful and easy to communicate with and they managed to save us money so it was a good experience all round.

Aggressive, pushy high pressure scammers.

We agreed with them they would challenge our rates bill which they did. It took an age and they achieved modest success but they got their bill out quick enough.

They are now trying to push us into a group action by for something else claiming that we signed up to it.

It took a long time to achieve a result.
The amount we received was much less than We hoped for.
We did get there eventually

Took a while to come to fruition but we just received a rebate of over £12,000 from our council. Thanks CCA

Complete Scammers, they came round to survey our property and promised a significant reduction in rates. Waited for over a year, repeated emails and phone calls and absolutely nothing. Having seen the reviews on here I decided to check with the VOA and they insisted that no application for a reduction was ever made on our behalf. Please do not waste your money. I hope you find these reviews before you sign up, unlike me.

Further my previous post I have just returned from County Court having successfully sued them for the return of my payment, plus interest.

Having had no contact from them subsequent to me signing the contract, and being fobbed-off when calling and emailing for a progress report, I initiated a claim for breach of contract through the small claims court.

The judge ruled that their contract could be reasonably interpreted as offering to appeal the rateable valuation, not just carry out the initial survey and evaluation, which is what they relied upon as their defence. I obtained confirmation from the VOA that they had made no attempt to appeal the valuation.

Also, they submitted their documentary evidence after the 14 day prior to hearing period contained in the directions from the court so I successfully asked the judge to disregard their evidence, which she did.

The original surveyor who initially came to see me represented them in court and basically offered no defence. I also presented print-outs of this thread from Trustpilot showing that they regularly ran this scam.

I'm writing this to say to other people who have fallen victim to R&R that it is worth investing the modest court fee and a little time to get your money back. It seems that their contract is flawed and if they haven't lodged an appeal you can get your money back.

Total scammers. They will promise you big reductions and it's only to get you to sign up. Once you're signed up they will threaten you court DO NOT USE THEM!!!!! Their telephone manner is hard and aggressive. Staff are very threatening. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! WE MOVED AS LANDLORD PUT RENT UP

Well it did take a while for Rates and Rentals to get it sorted - not only their fault - the VOA took their time too, but once I managed to get in touch with Mike he soon got the ball rolling for me and I am absolutely delighted with the result. I have just received a much needed rebate and no longer have to pay non-domestic rates, which is a huge saving for my business. Thank you Mike - you're a pal.

Phoned the office last week, to ask for my near £1k back.I was defrauded nearly 2 years ago now. Got a lot of abuse. Not suprised. Whatever good reports you read on here, need to be balanced against the vast numbers of accusations of theft further back.

Mike from Rates and Rental was very helpful, not only in dealing with our case but also informing us on the process.

It took a long time for the VOA to actually deal with our case but not only did mike keep us informed he also proactively chased the VOA for a resolution which I believe expedited what could haven taken a lot longer

The surveyor came down and measured our yard and was very professional and informative. After they carried out their survey they told us that they could save us money on our business rate and they were true to their words and kept us informed all the way.
We would certainly recommend this company.

Currently taking legal advice having had a debt-collector thug arrive at our business. I was conned into signing the contract on the basis I was just allowing a free-survey and now being asked to pay over £6000 or face further charges. A friend in the industry has now confirmed they are well known scammers and rely on aggressive sales and nasty letters to scare businesses into paying for advice which has turned out to be wrong.

I instructed this Company to help me with rates following a property split. When the Sales Representative came to see me he was a little enthusiastic about the length of time the process would take and I was honestly expecting a conclusion within 10 weeks. I became frustrated with the whole process because of how long it took. I read terrible reviews online which added more weight to my worry and after 6 months I felt like I was getting nowhere. If this sounds familiar, don't be put off. It just takes time. Mike looked after me and by the end of the process I was happy with how things were handled. I got my refund around 9 months after signing the initial paperwork.

Was very unsure about this company at first but im really glad we went ahead we managed to get our rebate sorted it took a little time but worth it in the end, defo worth a try even with the upfront cose don't let that put you off I was scared to pay it but never looked back

Sadly we are another company been caught by these people.
Pressured into signing after a close family bereavement, immediately messaged to cancel but now been threatened
Please, please avoid at all costs

I hope you all have phoned the police and the trading standards as I have.. even your local paper.. they need stopping before any more get scamed....
they are getting removed of companies house.. and was advised not to give them any money... they didn't get any money out off me..
i already had my rates reduced. Before their visit.. and now want to bill me £1200.00 for what? If I don't pay I need to pay £1300.00 and 8% And i would love to know what for or a break down on the work..
I look forward to meeting both directors..

Please please please be careful with them don't pay anything to them do your job by yourself or get advice from your local advisers

I am not a competitor. I too have stupidly been scammed by this company. Baliff action etc.... and they haven't even done anything yet. Horrible company.
