I have been ordering from Raru for a…

I have been ordering from Raru for a very long time, and I've never been disappointed. The most important thing people should remember is that Raru deals in some hard to come by items. These things might not be in stock at the specific suppliers. If you contact Raru via email, they are happy to check for you, before you order. As for the refunds, I have always got them within a day or 2 in the instances where items were truly unavailable. Keep up the good work Raru, and people, if you are ordering things you have been struggling to find elsewhere, it's not like ordering from a local place, it WILL take time. Be patient, and be reasonable.

RARU WILL ROB YOU

RARU WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY, AND THEY'LL DO IT VERY VERY SNEAKILY.

IN SHORT: Raru lists products they can't actually get (or won't). You buy these listed products and patiently wait for them to arrive. They don't. You contact Raru. They tell you to be patient, that they're having trouble sourcing the product. You wait. A month or so. Contact them again. Someone different talks to you. They say, "Oh we had no idea, oh we can see on the system that the order to the supplier wasn't placed properly (or some other bull****), we'll get right on it, but it will take a month or so to arrive from the supplier and another couple weeks to send it. You wait again... It's been 3 or 4 months, or longer. The item doesn't arrive. You contact them. They tell you to be patient. This continues until it's been 5 months, 6 months, 9 months (what I'm now experiencing). And guess what. THEY WON'T REFUND YOUR MONEY!!!!

#1: In early 2017, I ordered 6 books listed on Raru, only to have Raru tell me they actually didn't have stock of those books and couldn't get from the suppliers. Irritating but... okay whatever, I ordered from another company.

#2: Late in 2017, I ordered another 3 books. And what do you know, Raru couldn't get those either.

#3: December 2015. Same thing happens with another book. You're probably asking why I bothered at all? Well, that's because Raru lists books that other sites don't list. So I would order, hoping that this time, maybe, they'd actually be able to make good on what they offer. I do remember calling in at some point, asking if they could get stock and just being told that another department who doesn't deal with customers handles that part and there was no way for the person on the phone to actually give me the answer. How astonishingly useless.

It gets worse.

#4: Jan 2019, I ordered a book. It arrived! But I soon found there was a massive printing issue inside, whole pages without text, other pages where there were just barcode-style lines of ink all over the pages. I returned it, but the replacement copy I received was not the right edition, and didn't match my set. It was a hardcover and an expensive book. Worst of all, by the end of that debacle, I could no longer order the same edition in South Africa.

#5: On the 26/10/19 I ordered an illustrated edition of one of my favourite books that had just been released. It didn't arrive. It didn't arrive.... I contacted them, they told me to be patient. To cut a long story short, over the course of 6 months, Raru NEVER got in touch with me. I was the one who had to keep emailing them to find out what on Earth was happening. They put me off so many times, telling me to wait, to the point that this illustrated edition was no longer available even on Amazon. I was simply not going to be able to buy it anymore. I finally managed to get in touch with a high level manager who helped me in the end, but it was clear through talking to him that the previous customer agents I'd been in touch with had been doing nothing to move the order forward, just putting me off. I guess they hoped I would somehow forget about the R700 I spent and the book I had hoped to get for my coin. I didn't. It took more than 6 months for me to finally get that book.

#6: Around the same time of that order, October 2019, I ordered another book. (Before I knew what was going to happen with the illustrated book). This book has still not arrived. The same thing happened. They never told me they were having difficulty sourcing the book. I just waited. Waited past the supposed arrival date. Waited some more. Contacted them. They told me to wait some more. This patterne repeated until Covid. Then they told me there was nothing they could do. (Even though lockdown only 5 MONTHS after I made the order). End of lockdown arrived. Same story, "please be patient, we're having difficulty sourcing the book". At this point one wonders, in ten years time, will they tell me they're still having difficulty? At what point will they be honest and say, "We can't get the book, sorry we listed it (false advertising), sorry we never contacted you about the issue, here's your money back." At what point will Raru do this? Never. That's what I've realised.

It's been 9 months since I made that order. I have been fighting with Raru to refund me the money to my bank account. They will not. They insist on putting credit on my Raru account. I don't want to ever make another purchase through Raru again. I wanted that book, they couldn't get it. But they keep my money? Insisting I spend it on Raru? What the fu*k? This company will ROB you.
