Real relationships, both with the farms and our customers, are essential to Rare Tea. This is what we believe defines direct trade.
We focus on quality, sampling the finest and only selecting the best: our range is small but carefully chosen, seeking out tea-gardens and farmers crafting the most delicious leaves. We are extremely lucky and proud to work with unique farms producing extraordinary tea.
Some of our tea is very rare, with only a few kilos produced each year. Others can be grown on a larger scale. All of our tea is crafted by skilled men and women on independent farms, not industrially processed by large agribusinesses. We buy harvests from farmers, not a commodity from brokers.

Rare teas with even rarer customer service
The rare tea company is definitely on a mission to bring rare tea to the masses. I subscribed to them after listening to an episode of APM Splendid table that featured the founder Henrietta. Her passion for the teas drove me to purchase a subscription for 6 months. While I enjoyed the first box, the second tin was not to my satisfaction. Primarily, the instructions for the infusion are hard to find. This was reported and resolved by the Rare tea team. I'm convinced that they are doing their best to make rare teas accessible to those of us trying to understand it. Given the excellent customer care, which is a rarity, I'm sure to be back to try one more tins and they will make great gifts. It's nice to see a company stand behind it's products and mission, for that I give them a five star rating.

Lovely glass teapot
Purchased a lovely glass teapot very impressed with it and the quick delivery time, Just slightly disappointed that the strainer that came with it didn’t stop the loose tea so had a cup of tea with leaves in :-( so may just use it for tea bags or mint leaves

We are sorry to hear about your issues with residual tea leaves. With regards to the straining properties of this particular teapot, the spiral strainer filters out some larger, whole leaf teas such as a rolled oolong. However, we do recommend that for finer cuts of tea, it is best to use our Overcup Strainer.
We would love to help you have a more pleasant drinking experience - tailoring this for the specific loose leaf tea you like to drink. We would hate for this teapot to be demoted to teabag use.

Other teas we received were delicious and it's good knowing your are helping producers and drinking a safe product. Sustainable business is important.

Terrific service
Not only do they sell the best tea but their service is totally terrific. I had problems with the Brexit tax which they sorted out swiftly, efficiently and generously. All in all a great company.
