Arrogant staff

I disliked the rather large guy on reception, who’s interpersonal skills were non existent,I was greeted by a moody guy who did not communicate at all with me and when I asked for some bubbly rap you’d think I had asked for £100… he totally lacked any customer service skills, couldn’t be bothered, unhelpful, rude bordering on arrogant….I need double glazing in my new house…I will go elsewhere….

The story of two doors

I have two mahogany doors front and side and after 30 years the hinges and the locking mechanisms needed changing. Similar hinges were totally unavailable and we had been informed by another company we needed new doors made. A very costly job. I contacted Ramsgate glass who I have used on many previous occasions. Kevin came out to review the problem. He sent two of his most experience guys Dave and Simon. They managed to modify current hinges on site and completely changed both locking mechanisms. I can assure you it was a very complicated job with many adjustments. Both doors now open and close with such ease it is a pleasure to use them. Quite honestly we can't thank them enough and would suggest whatever the problem go to Ramsgate Glass

Polite and efficient

I just needed one pane to replace a front door panel and it took no more than about 5 minutes to be served, choose the pattern, have the glass cut and be on my way again. The guy who served me was really helpful and polite, even making a point of opening the door for me on my way out.

Only a tiny job but the excellent service deserves a mention.

Expert replacement

We are delighted with the work recently done for us. A door on our antique glass cabinet had broken glass and having taken it in to Ramsgate Glass for a possible repair, as it has wood decoration on both sides of the glass, really did not expect much than to get it replaced with just plain glass. Not so, the wood has been expertly put back on the new glass and matches the other door perfectly. We are full of praise and all done for a very reasonable price. Thank you very much, we are happy to recommend.

WARNING

WARNING! Do not use. They would not supply and fit replacements to all my property. Saying their fitter had left to start up on his own. Supplied only, and we got a fitter to fit them 18 months ago. Then a few days ago one of the windows shattered in a bedroom not being used. The strange thing is no one went near the window, but it has shattered just on the inside. Asked Ramsgate glass to come and sort it, and never heard anything for days. When I called to chase them up they explained that the windows are out of warranty, and nothing to do with them now. Now if it wasn’t just me at home at the time, I would definitely not have believed whoever was there, and blamed them! However NO ONE went near the glass, and just the internal glass in the double glazed unit shattered. I have been advised definitely a manufacturing issue and they won’t do anything. Fortunately I can afford to get a reputable company in to repair, but their attitude stinks. Fitter supplied us with a FENSA certificate as per the Thanet council planning application.

Better Comms Needed.

With Ramsgate Glass being a fairly large outfit in the small district of Thanet it doesn't seem a surprise that they would be the most obvious choice for most glazing jobs.

Having chose them for a few specific cuts of internal panels, I was quoted a timescale of about 2 weeks.

About four weeks later I heard nothing, so went down to their premises only to discover that the order still wasn't ready, this isn't a big problem in itself as their toughening jobs are outsourced and they are dependent on this outsource company. A few days later, the order was ready for collection.

Unfortunately, two of the glass panels were cut incorrectly, and I had to have them redone.

The downside of this is that three weeks later, I wasn't told the recut panels were ready, and I actually had to go down to the premises to discover that they, were in fact, ready for collection.

In my view they lose two points mainly because of the lack of update communication and reticence to answer the telephone, but I would use them again due to the locality and quality of the order.

Booking was easy

Booking was easy and hassle free as well as quoting a great price. I just need a small glass pane replaced which some idiot decided to smash. I called them the day before they were due to double check the job was in their system which it was. I am based in London and didn’t want to have a wasted journey to Ramsgate. The job was booked in for 12:00pm. I reached the address at around 11:45an and waited, waited some more and more but nothing. I called them at 12:20 for an ETA and the gentleman (very helpful btw) said he would check. He got back to me after about an hour informing me that the team had got stuck on a large job and would have to leave mine meaning I would need to rebook. I refused to do that as I cannot keep travelling down to Ramsgate so the estate agents (rented flat) are going to get a quote from their contractor. It is Ramsgate Glass’ loss as I need a new front door too in a year or so but will NOT be using them ever again now.
