Awful and dirty
Our recent stay at Rahaa Resort in the Maldives was deeply disappointing and felt far below the standards expected of a 4-star resort—it seemed more like a 1-star experience.
From the start, the experience was frustrating. Upon arriving at Malé airport, we discovered that the resort had failed to pay for our connecting flight, forcing us to cover the cost ourselves. While a refund was eventually issued, this was an unnecessary and stressful start to our holiday.
The accommodation was completely unacceptable. The room was poorly maintained, with dirty and stained bedding, soft furnishings, and towels. We encountered ants and cockroaches in the bathroom, alongside unsafe electrical outlets and a shower with no water pressure or hot water. The finishes were rushed and of poor quality, with stains and marks throughout. Incredibly, the fire alarm still had its cover left on.
Basic amenities were also neglected—our room lacked drinking water for over two days despite repeated requests. In the humid Maldives climate, this was unacceptable.
The dining experience was no better. The food was of poor quality, with limited options and artificial, sugary beverages. To make matters worse, the water served in the restaurant was mouldy, suggesting that the containers hadn’t been cleaned properly.
The attitude of the staff compounded the situation. Despite raising our concerns, no meaningful action was taken. It felt as though our dissatisfaction was ignored rather than addressed.
We were so dissatisfied with the resort that we wanted to leave after the first day but were unable to do so due to flight unavailability.
Overall, this trip was far from the relaxing and enjoyable experience we had hoped for. We do not recommend this resort to anyone.
