i couldnt connect the upwork account severally on an android device, the availability of the app is limited to certain devices, after so much hassle to get the customer service rep,i was told to try on another device, the traffic of users sometimes is overwhelming and there is always a prevention for the next 24hours.
I've been trying to get back my USD acct for hours now and they're practically taking me through a rollercoaster! And mind you I've used geegpay for multiple payments before! So I don't get it
Serious Privacy & Verification Overreach
I initially thought this was a good fintech app because of the fast payouts and decent exchange rates. On the surface, everything looks efficient, especially if you’re receiving funds from platforms like Upwork, where money gets deposited almost immediately.
However, my experience trying to open a USD / EUR / GBP account revealed a very serious problem that I believe people need to be aware of.
To request a foreign currency account, I was required to:
• Declare my monthly earnings
• Upload an employment letter
• Select a fixed occupation with no “Other” option, forcing users into narrow categories
This goes far beyond standard KYC.
KYC is meant to verify identity (ID, face verification, address).
What this platform is doing is effectively asking for employment history and proof of income, without clearly stating why this is required or how such highly sensitive documents are protected.
I find it extremely inappropriate — and frankly alarming — that I must upload an employment letter just to open a virtual receiving account. I am not applying for a loan, credit, or business financing. I am simply requesting a foreign currency account.
What makes this worse:
• Customer support kept asking for screenshots, which I provided clearly
• The screenshots were then not referenced at all
• I was repeatedly redirected without any real explanation or resolution
• No one could clearly justify why these documents were mandatory
The process feels opaque, rigid, and dismissive of user privacy concerns.
Many users may overlook this because the app works after you comply — but that doesn’t make the requirement acceptable. Not everyone is comfortable uploading employment letters or disclosing income details to a fintech platform with unclear data-handling policies.
This is not just inconvenient; it’s a trust issue.
I’ve decided not to proceed and will be closing my account. I strongly advise anyone considering this platform to think carefully about the level of personal and professional information you’re being asked to hand over — especially for something as basic as a virtual foreign account.
Good exchange rates do not justify excessive data collection.

They are extemely shady, they will accept you open account with them the first payment goes through for the subsequest payout they will ban your account for no apparent reason . I have all message them telling me they decided to close due to reasons best know to them. Internal issue. Here you never assured of protection of your funds.
Raenest is a very good app for receiving and sending payments internationally. They’ve rebranded, and so far, they’re doing well and hitting the mark.

Geegpay is not just unreliable — they’re shady. I received a legitimate payment, and instead of crediting it, they froze my funds and demanded documents I promptly provided. After that? Silence. No support, no updates — just my money stuck in limbo. This feels like a calculated scam targeting freelancers. Geegpay has no integrity. Avoid them like the plague.

Using Geepay I had to wait patiently for 2 days to verify my UK account request afterwards denied and had to wait two more days just to request for another. That's quite annoying. No sense of urgency

"We have received the payment receipt; however, it does not include the originator’s account number and address.
Kindly review the receipt and provide a copy that contains the full sender details so we can proceed with reconciliation."
That is their response when they want to steal your Payment and after sending them receipt they will still not credit the payment nor refund it to the sender

When I was recommended to use geegpay, i thought it's a good platform and everything is going well for the first month until the second month they hold my money saying it's under review even after providing everything they asked for. That's how they keep my $1473 July and August 2025 payment, i regret trusting them.

Virtual dollar card seem impossible to create, funds held indefinitely with no communication even on live chat; they just blanked out - estimated resolution time expired, no response, no feedback even through email- 24hrs and still running. Money held hostage. Terrible experience
Update : It took almost two weeks to have all issues with card and payment resolved. Customer care can do much better but yes! Card works and service is ok.
