Overcharged

Overcharged. Paid £369 for a basic lock to be changed having got locked out. The charge was for just one lock and having since spoken to other locksmiths the charge should have been between £70-£100. Total rip off and annoyed at myself for paying it. Would like to follow up and get some of the money refunded.

Rude, Scam artists.…

After a disaster with another locksmith, I asked for a new lock. To my mind this means the whole shebang, inside and outside. The problem was the existing lock has an internal night locking mechanism which was working intermittently and locking me in.

I 'got' a Security Rim Cylinder, of unknown provenance, claiming to be of BST standard, but no paperwork, or proof, and I cannot find the name of the organisation. Also if this part of the lock is changed so must the Back Plate be changed, or the BST standard does not apply.

1 week later, the original problem resurfaced.

In the meantime I stupidly paid out

£65 in callout fee
£150 in labour costs (for 30 minutes)
PLUS VAT

Total £258, and same problem.

RIP OFF - AVOID!!

RIP OFF - DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

Fake quotation on telephone (call out charges) and no clear pricing structure. I was then charged nearly £500 for 10 minutes of work.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I WOULD SERIOUSLY QUESTION WHETHER THE POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE GENUINE. DONT TAKE A CHANCE.

My wife got them to change the lock on our front door while I was away. They charged £495.60!

They changed an "emergency" call out fee of £99 at 9.30am in the morning.
They charged £83 for 10 minutes labour.
They charged £225 for a new lock that I can find online for £15/£30.

This is scurrilous behaviour and I will be doing all I can to report them and make sure that NO ONE ELSE is treated like this.

DO NOT USE THIS LOCKSMITHS

DO NOT USE THIS LOCKSMITHS - SCAM ARTISTS!

As part of an emergency callout to fix a jammed deadlock we were charged £293 for a new Legge 5 Lever Security Deadlock. We were pressured into purchasing the lock by the locksmith who insisted that we were vulnerable to burglary without it, and that he would not be able to close our existing lock and therefore had no choice but to replace it (he claimed not to be able to shut the door without removing it). We were separately charged a £45 call-out fee and £89 labour charge for fitting the lock. Furthermore, while we were told by the dispatcher that the locksmith would be there in 25mins, it actually took them 90mins to arrive.

We have since looked up the cost of the lock online and have realised it varies between £19 - £50. Even with a call-out mark-up this is an extraordinary instance of over-charging, abuse of trust and of people in vulnerable positions (and quite possibly criminal practice!). Avoid at all costs.

Quickfix locksmiths total crooks

My tenant was locked out and contacted these con artists. Much the same as other reviews drilled the lock out and replaced with a £29 lock (manufacturer name on lock) charged £225 for lock.
More importantly charged for a new “mechanism “ which is an extra locking bar down the edge of the door that puts extra latches into the frame. This door did not have this “mechanism” and still doesn’t ! Charged £717 ,a reputable locksmith said £200 to £250 maximum.
I’m in contact with trading standards and am applying to small claims court. If anyone wants to join in contact me elpiver at gmail.comThey should not be allowed to continue ripping people off.

I wouldn’t even give one star

I wouldn’t even give one star. Contacted the locksmith as I was locked out of the property. They had to drill the door to change the lock, and charged me £180. Week later my lock doesn’t work and of course I contacted the locksmith since they were the ones who changed the lock. They were quick to tell me that they will charge me again for the call out if it’s not their “fault”. I argued back that they were the last ones to tamper with the lock and hence they haven’t done the job with reasonable care and skill and now my lock is defective because of their poor job. I was forced to contact another locksmith. The new one was so much helpful, and he only charged me £89 by using the tool that goes through the letter box, BUT the first locksmith couldn’t use it he said my letter box was too small. Clearly it wasn’t too small as other locksmith was able to use it. Very frustrating experience, please read reviews before calling anyone, because I was in an awful position.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

These guys are con artists. Non sensical and inflated prices that prey on people who are in positions where they have no alternatives. Said they'd arrive in 20 mins. 45 minutes later they start. Was locked out - total job took 15 minutes and cost me £566.40. Absolute scam. Don't read the fake reviews, don't fall for it and most importantly DON'T USE THEM

THIS MAN PREYS ON YOUNG WOMEN

THIS MAN PREYS ON YOUNG WOMEN

My daughter locked herself out of my flat and this man charged her over £1000 to replace the lock. On the phone he indicated a price of £300 for drilling and replacing the lock but this was inflated once the job was done.

He is a charlatan and a crook and I strongly advise you to avoid using him particularly if you are young. He will ruthlessly take advantage of you.

I have emailed him several times to try and resolve this and each time he has ignored me. I will take this to the Citizen's Advice Bureau and see if some money can be returned. He is not a member of the Master Locksmiths Association (the body that overseas legitimate locksmiths) and it is clear why: he preys on people.

Absolute scam artists

Absolute scam artists, they completely ripped off my elderly neighbour charging extortionate rates. This company have no morals, no ethics and are simply looking to extract as much money as they can get away with. They completely destroyed the door frame, and had the cheek to charge extra for bodging it being fixed. Do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs. Otherwise you WILL pay the price for poor work, and you’ll be helping them RIP OFF other elderly vulnerable customers.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AND READ THE REVIEWS…

AVOID THIS COMPANY AND READ THE REVIEWS ON TRUSTPILOT COMPLETE SCAM. Completely over charged me by costing me almost £600 more than what is quoted by other locksmiths. Avoid at all costs or it’ll cost you quadruple the price!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY,

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY,
This company would take advantage of your situation and overcharge you given every opportunity. Unfortunately, we were put through to this company via an agency, they gave the initial quote of £225 inclusive of call out charges of £99 to fix the lock which was not working. When the locksmith arrived he said he could not fix the lock as it was broken. He said it needed replacing. He did the job. After, we were shocked to hear how much he wanted. He charged £250 to take the Lock off and a further £250 put a new lock back on. The final amount he wanted was £770 including the price of the lock £30. It was a ridiculous charge. When asked, he would not give his real name. When we questioned the price, the locksmith turned aggressive and threatening. He said he will take the lock off if we did not pay. It was dark and we couldn’t do without a front door lock, reluctantly we paid him £540. We really do not want anyone to experience the same thing, so please stay away.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

PREDATORY. BE VERY WEARY OF ANY 5 STAR REVIEWS (AND CROSS CHECK AGAINST GOOGLE REVIEWS WHERE THERE IS A SIMILAR PATTERN OF FAKE 5 REVIEWS AND HONEST 1 STAR REVIEWS - IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE THIS SPREAD UNLESS THE 5* ARE FAKE - also YELL.COM WHICH IS UNIFORMLY TERRIBLE). THE COMPANY HAS A HISTORY OF DILUTING BAD REVIEWS ONLINE WITH MULTIPLE PAID FOR REVIEWS. I RECENTLY WITNESSED (18th JAN 2021) MY YOUNG, VULNERABLE FEMALE NEIGHBOUR BEING TOTALLY SCAMMED BY THIS COMPANY, ACCOMANIED BY INTIMIDATORY TACTICS. They initially quoted her £780 pounds to replace a Yale lock at 9pm (before lingering in her house, refusing to give her new keys and finally setlting on Circa £650!). Absolute scam. Opening gambit was "we are going round to the house of another woman who did not pay her bill tomorrow". Then did not tell her the cost until invasively opening the door after which the price was a fait accompli (as no doubt she felt completely imtimidated though good for her for bringing it down to to a still exorbitant £650). INTIMIDATORY. DO NOT USE. THE HONEST REVIEWS HERE ARE 1 STAR AND THE REST ARE PAID FOR (LOOK AT THE WAY EACH GOOD REVIEW IS CONSTRCUTED - NO ONE LEAVES REVIEWS LIKE THIS - AND NOTICE UNIFORMITY OF PHRASING - THE SAME PERSON LEFT THEM). SCAM COMPANY. TOTALLY AVOID AND NOTE THAT A BUNCH OF FAKE POSITIVE REVIEWS APPEARED IN THE 24 HOURS SINCE I FIRST POSTED A VERSION OF THIS REVIEW (A PATTERN I HAVE SEEN REPEATED ACCROSS SEVERAL SITES NOW - NB: THEY HAD NO POSITIVE REVIEWS UNTIL 20 01 21, THE DATE OF MY FIRST POST ON GOOGLE SUGGESTING THAT POTENTIAL CLIENTS LOOK AT THE REVIEWS ON THIS SITE). FYI: ALL OF THESE FRAUDULENT NEW REVIEWS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. THEY ARE ALSO BEING REPORTED TO TRADING STANDARDS AS WE SPEAK. NOT THE KIND OF PEOPLE WE WANT OPERATING IN OUR COMMUNITY - VERY PRECISELY BECAUSE THEY OVERCHARGE AND ARE PREDATORY.
