Consistent Error when trying to…

Consistent Error when trying to generate an invoice, " Please try again later" and I haven't the time to wait "5 minutes" in the contact queue, to have an agent take 10 minutes to familiarize themselves with the problem. Such a basic task of the software to get right and It's just not good enough QB, very frustrating when you need to get work done now!

Fantastic customer service!

Fantastic customer service!
I had a problem where my bank accounts would not reconnect despite me following the required steps.
Cassandra (customer service) screen-shared with me and walked me through the process of fixing the problem. She was very friendly and super-patient, given that I had to find my bank card, reader etc.
This must be the best customer service I have received. Great stuff!

Successful

I was stressed about making tax digital and after reviewing a lot of software I’ve decided to go for intuitquickbooks.
I took the right decision, as now, after receiving help regarding the steps that I have to do I am confident and I find it very helpful for organising my business finances easier.
Would definitely recommend this software for sole traders who need to be more organised and in line with the mtd.

Disappointing and insufficient

We are limited company and use Quickbooks for filing payroll, VAT, CIS, EPS’s.

The only thing I have not had multiple problems with is the VAT.

Since 2021 I have been unable to file CIS submissions, I have called numerous amounts of times and they can not resolve the issue, therefore I have had to submit manually to the HMRC.

There has been multiple issues with filing EPS’s. First to be filed as an accumulative figure, all worked fine. Then they changed this to be filed monthly amount. However when you do this the date is always incorrect and a month forward. They failed to make us aware of the change so I filed for accumulative and was told to just put in a monthly amount and it will erase previous submission. It did not and it’s caused our figures to be out with HMRC costing us money because it’s unable to fix through the software and can’t be done with HMRC manually.

Auto payroll worked fine for 8 months then flailed to file the FPS for two months resulting in two HMRC £100 fines.

Photographing receipts is frustrating - it’s currently logging the dates in American format despite is being set to the UK. So you have to adjust it all manually. This is not a time saving software by any means. It’s time consuming. 5 extra steps for what should be one.

Sometimes it attaches receipts and sometimes it does not. Sometimes you’ll log with an attached receipt and the receipt will unattach and remain in the receipts section.

Some customer service are nice and some are extremely passive aggressive. The experts aren’t knowledgeable to compliances with HMRC. If you are new to this and you follow their lead you could end up with fines, or incorrect numbers.

Still advising to file nil EPS’s - spoken to HMRC and they assured me it is not needed and more clearer their end if you file as you need.

Multiple and constant software bugs

- logging in can be very temperamental . Very frustrating when you’re on the go and need to photograph receipts.

We are looking to move over to another software. Advised by our end of year accountant as she also finds the software incredibly insufficient.

Overall I’d heavily advise not using this software, in my experience it’s been nothing but painful.

Valery at quickbooks was so patient

Valery at quickbooks was so patient, methodical, caring and understanding taking me through virtually every step of my transition into MTD and the relevant software. She was amazing. I cannot thank her enough for all her help and guidance. I learned so much in a phone call. My time with her was invaluable. Extending my allocated time slot due to connection issues and me getting frustrated for not understanding at some points. She made it all so logical and straightforward. Absolutely brilliant.

Where to start

Where to start. The boffins who 'update' the layout and system certainly have zero common sense. For instance:

EPS submissions to HMRC. This used to be simple, just go the the relevant page, select your date parameters, allow the system to collate the finacials, then submit to HMRC. Now you have to go from one report to another, write down the relevant figures, go to another report, enter your figures manually and hope you didn't make a mistake. When first being taught how to do this over screen share, I explained that it is 2025 and surely the system can collate the info, explained to the online help that the new system was open to human error and . . . She made a mistake with the figures.
New layouts - So they layout is changing, and in that they decide to rename things. On transactions 'add' became 'post' then they deicde to hide the 'match' facility, so then you have to dial in to the help to get advice on where the match facility is.
Don't get me started on the rigmorole you have to go through to raise a credit note on an existing invoice. Instead of having the facility on a drop down menu by the invoice you want to raise a credit note, you have to go from one page to another, then mess around trying to remember where to go next. In the end you have to screen share to be shown how to do it. THE BOFFINS ARE OVERPAID IDIOTS WITH ZERO COMMON SENSE IN MY OPINION.
I subsequently cancelled my payroll subscription as it was so confusing - how may terms do you have for 'holiday pay' 3, I believe. Always issues with EPS submissions, working out anything but basic payroll is a mare. And they are still changing things. NEW LAYOUTS TO COME, THEY SAY IT WILL IMPROVE THE USER EXPEREINCE - UTTER BS IN MY OPINION, IT JUST CONFUSES US FURTHER, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE NAMES OF THINGS CHANGE. MY ADVICE TO ANYONE THINKING OF USING QUICK BOOKS AS THEIR CHOICE OF ONLINE ACCOUNTING - LOOK ELSEWHERE. I have put down todays date as date of expereince, it didn't allow me to put down the last 2 years. Utter Confusion they should call the service, not Quick Books.
ONLINE HELP - So when you request a chat, 7 times out of 10 you get someone who is extremely helpful, but then you get people who just try and fob you off, over the years I can the gist of when they are trying to do this and just close the chat and request another. On the whole the online help though is excellent, all they seem to do though is apologise on behalf of the 'BOFFINS' who carry out the idiotic changes. Big up Rorie - 100% success rate with him on the online chat, and never leaves you unsatisfied!!! He follows things through, makes sure you are totally happy with the results and has never left an issue unresolved.

Site crashing and can't log in.

Sole Trader page is being very buggy, so can't log in. Keep kicking me out to the American homepage... I'm in the UK. Customer support is rude and very unhelpful, sends a copy and paste message then disconnects chat, without reading my messages.

Why don't they listen properly

A minor quibble is that the ring back promised in 7 minutes took 20 mins to arrive. My big quibble was that the agent I spoke to didn't listen to the whole of what I said. I had to repeat three times that I had already done what he was telling me to do before we got to the bottom of it. Fair play he helped fix it in the end.
