Beware of "Brain-Picking" Interviews
Beware of "Brain-Picking" Interviews – They are looking for free consultancy
Rating: 1 out of 5 stars
Pros:
The scheduling and communication prior to the interview were fine.
Cons:
I have 4 years of experience with Google Ads and 8 years with YouTube, and I was excited to discuss my qualifications. However, during the interview with Quadroots Technology, it became glaringly obvious that the session was less about evaluating me as a candidate and more about extracting strategic ideas and operational solutions to improve their internal processes. They asked an excessive amount of highly specific, actionable questions that crossed the line from a standard interview into free consulting.
I ended up withdrawing my application and staying with my current employer (who matched my requirements). I explicitly told Quadroots in my withdrawal email that it felt like they were using the hiring process to harvest free insights. Ironically, they sent a generic rejection email around the same time.
Advice to Management:
Respect candidates' time and expertise. Using the interview process to gather free consultancy and actionable insights from senior professionals is highly unprofessional.
Advice to Candidates:
If you are an experienced digital marketer or strategist interviewing here, guard your expertise. Do not give away your entire playbook or specific campaign strategies for free.
