Great service but faulty product

I can’t fault the customer service. They were excellent. And the linen covered hardback journals that I ordered looked beautiful. They arrived just as I’d hoped. However, on inspection over 75% of them made very loud glue cracking sound when opened and close to the extent that I couldn’t sell them. Unfortunately, the company suggest that I’m neurotic and that this is not a problem. However, I have shared this problem with two professional book binders in my area as well as a number of people and they all acknowledge that this is a very real issue that impacts on the perceived quality of the books. It sounds like the glue is cracking and they will fall apart even though they seem structurally sound. Unfortunately,Pulsio has not been able to resolve my request for a refund for these faulty books. They suggest that there is no problem with them. The strange thing is that about 25% of the journals open and close exactly as you’d expect a hardback book to do so.

Superb quality hard back books and very helpful service

I had five copies of my 500 page book of memoirs printed in hard back format and with many pages in colour. Faby at Pulsio Print was extremely helpful throughout the weeks when I was deciding on format, quality of paper and type of binding etc. The books were despatched using DHL which was a very reliable company which gave good tracking throughout the delivery. The quality of the books is at least as good as I'd hoped and I am totally delighted with the result and with the service that I received from Faby at Pulsio Print. I will certainly use them again.

Grandfather’s memoir

Having edited my grandfather’s memoirs, I came across Pulsio while looking to print several copies before last year Christmas. Pulsio’s customer service was very patient with my limited knowledge on the printing process, and assisted with eventually guiding me to a high quality final product. On arrival, the books were of a better quality than I expected (for the very reasonable price),and I remain very pleased with the final result. The memoir looks professional and classic, and meets the original vision I had for the final result. For this quality, at this price, I doubt there is a better option in Europe.

Pretty happy with my Pulsio books, recommend with caveats!

Used Pulsio recently for a 2000 hardback book order with special finishes and I’m very happy with the service!

Pros:

Transparent pricing with their price calculator
Reasonably priced: not the cheapest I found but also still within very reasonable price margins due to the printing coming from Bulgaria
Helpful customer service: while definitely not the fastest and some language barriers that make communication a bit frustrating, the person in charge of my order was actually very helpful and made sure I received my books for a very tight deadline and helped with sorting expedited shipping etc. while I started out a bit peeved I ended up being really grateful for the help offered.
Offer special finishes: I ordered a cloth bound book with gilded edges, I was worried about finding a printer who would do a good job with this but Pulsio did a really beautiful job.

Cons:
Slow customer service: while the person I dealt with was lovely and really did go the extra mile, the communication was really slow. I was working to a tight deadline and the process was quite stressful at times.
Dark print colours: while I def should have gotten a proof copy to check, the print colours were a bit darker than I expected. I recommend brightening your coloured pages or paying for a proof if you can afford it so you can tweak.

Largely I’m very happy with the service from Pulsio, the books I ordered where printed in Bulgaria which I didn’t know until I’d ordered them but also realise this is why the prices are so competitive. Keep this in mind if you need something very quickly :) I will def use pulsio for future projects where I can’t find a suitable UK printer!

Unwilling to take responsibility for their own error

I had a really bad experience with this company. Long story, but in essence, they agreed to provide a certain type of book printing service, but when it came to supplying the product, they suddenly realised that they can't actually make it in the quantity I need and they quoted for. Bad enough that they only noticed this so late in the process and wasted my time, but even worse is that they now refuse to refund the paid for print proof ('wet proof'), saying that they supplied the proof, so there is no need for a refund. However, why on earth would I need to approve something they can't actually supply?? Naturally, if I would have known they are unable to make the book I asked for, I would have never ever asked for, let alone paid for, a print proof - it's useless for me, but sadly they are unwilling to take responsibility for their error.
