Huda is AMAZING.

My teacher, Huda Saeed, was incredibly thorough and encouraging. I was reluctant to join this course at first, I was afraid I would look or sound stupid. But, any time I got stuck, Huda would ask me thought provoking questions to help me get to the answer. They changed my perspective and helped me approach things at a different angle. This process helped me to understand the gaps in my own thinking and learn faster. With her help, my ACT score went from a 23 to a 28 in less than 3 months. The program was well designed and it is clear Huda loved teaching and helping her students. She never made me feel stupid, was always on time, and very communicative. I highly suggest Huda and this program for anyone looking to boost their score.

Claire GM was outstanding!!

Before I found PrepScholar, I was working with a different well-known company which was not only expensive, but extremely disorganized (I went through 5 advisiors due to staff changes) and they were ultimately useless. This other company claimed to have experience in all areas of college applications / admissions, but I realized they were only good with typical and very structured pathways (STEM, general admissions) but were clueless when it came to any Liberal Arts portfolio programs, which was my direction.

I found PrepScholar when I realized deadlines were approaching and I was not feeling great about my essays. I first spoke with Alissa who listened to me and what I needed, she paired me immediately with Claire Gerety-Mott to help me fine tune my essays. Claire “got it” immediately. Her input was honest, constructive and she was always accessible. Claire knew about the top programs, about portfolios and what was needed, and expected. The only thing I wished I had done differently was find her sooner!

I cannot recommend PrepScholar enough, especially Claire. From the start, they were open about expectations and fees. If you have several creative essays that will hold a lot of weight in your appplication (especially anything Humanities or Liberal Arts), sign up and BEG to work with Claire! You will love her!

Allison Kramer at PrepScholar- Best College Admission Consultant

Allison Kramer, College Admission Consultant at PrepScholar, helped my son with the college preparation process, including completing the college applications, brainstorming/writing college essays, and making the college final decision process. The most crucial thing Allison helped my son with was to figure out how he could make himself identify to stand out in academics and extracurriculars. The experiences we had were eye-opening and extraordinary, and we never imagined.
My son and I highly recommend Allison Kramer as a College Admission Consultant.

Dominique has been supportive, not making me feel bad when things don't go the way we planned and instead always working with me to figure out how we can fix the problem at hand, and overall has been a huge help as both a resource and a mentor.

Meh. Not impressed

We tried PrepScholar with both of our kids. With my first, she said the program kept telling her that she needed to do practice tests. She kept taking practice tests.. and that was it. I asked for help from PrepScholar but only got an email saying that it's a great program, and she needs to keep working. She could work for hours and get no credit. It's easy to not pay a money-back guarantee when you control the conditions and can make fulfilling those conditions impossible. By studying free videos on the internet, she was able to get more help and improved her score by about 40 points. With my second, I'm more involved. I thought this would help me understand the program more as I'm walking through it with him. Maybe my first just.. didn't use the program properly. He hasn't been given any practice SATs yet, but he could spend an hour on a lesson and be given credit for 0.6 hours. At this point, we don't care about refunds, just help with the SAT please. Control over your learning and the settings is weird. I can't figure out how to change things like 'goal number of hours to study a week.' All in all, as an educator and a programmer, I'm not impressed. The price is too high for the level of instruction that I'm seeing.
tldr; Meh. Try it if you want but know that you won't get your money back. If you throw $400 at it, spend it like you are lending it to that cousin you know will never pay you back.. just let it go.

Hi Lisa, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that your children's experiences haven't quite met your expectations. We take all feedback seriously and use it to improve our program.

We'd appreciate it if you could email us at support@prepscholar.com so we can review your case more closely and find a resolution tailored to your needs.

In the meantime, we'd also like to address a few points you mentioned:

>Practice Tests: The program assigns practice tests roughly every 10 hours of completed lessons. This helps students measure their progress and implement what they've learned in a full-length test format.
>Time Tracker: The time tracker is designed to reflect active engagement with the program. It may pause if there's no mouse movement for an extended period. This discourages students from inflating their study time without truly absorbing the content. That being said, our point improvement guarantee is based on demonstrated proficiency (scoring 90% on the lesson quiz), not the study time itself, so this wouldn't affect your eligibility.
>The "goal number of hours to study a week": This is determined by the student's input at the beginning of the week when prompted to plan their weekly schedule. This tool is meant to help students visualize their study time and allows us to send them SMS study reminders. The goal automatically resets every Sunday night.
>Trying the program: We offer a 5-day risk-free trial period with full access to all of the program's features and content. If you're not 100% satisfied during this period, you can cancel no questions asked.

Excellent Resource- 200 point improvement

The SAT PrepScholar program did a great job preparing our son for the PSAT. It highlighted areas of weakness, taught how to identify the unique details of those questions, and gave many focused practice problems. PrepScholar helped improve his score 200 points from sophomore to junior year.

We had tutors with another prep school and our son said he learned the most with Amy. We are so grateful our son had Amy as his tutor. It made all the difference in the world as to his future academic success. We were expecting a 32 at most and our son got a 33. He couldn’t have done it without Amy. Amy knows the ACT and did an amazing job teaching our son the format of this test. Thank you for all your efforts in helping him.

Claire Gerety-Mot worked with our daughter on her college app essays. She was a godsend- calm, patient, organized, delightful to collaborate with, very knowledgeable, and very skilled. Our daughter felt very comfortable with Claire from the start, and felt “seen” by Claire, which is so important to the process. I also felt immediately comfortable with Claire, and able to dialogue with her about my own questions and concerns about the admissions process throughout. Claire even made herself available for counsel about the Wait List process and deciding amongst the schools our daughter had been accepted to. Claire honestly got us over what felt like a tremendous series of hurdles. Our daughter is now at college, and could not be happier.

Waste Of Time And Money

How I rue the day I chose PrepScholar from the many options available to improve my daughter's somewhat-disappointing SAT score. I ignored little alarm bells. To pick one example, their offerings page says "We recommend at least +/-40 hours of study before your test." Plus or minus forty hours? These are the language experts? Second example, my daughter had already scored a 750 on the language part of the SAT. That's in the 99th percentile. But PrepScholar's "SAT Diagnostic Report" showed her language skills somewhere below the 50th percentile. That's a BIG difference, and should have been the end of our involvement. But the idea of a website that finds your academic level and gives you work tuned to your exact needs was very appealing, so we stuck with it.

Well, my daughter did exactly what PrepScholar recommended, exceeding the recommended 40 hours of study. Result? Her language score went DOWN 30 points. Her overall SAT score went up exactly 10 points. Just taking the test again, with no preparation, would almost certainly have shown at least a 10 point improvement.

What about PrepScholar's "160-Point Guarantee"? Read the fine print. Very few folks will meet all those conditions. I asked for my money back anyway, and the answer was, predictably, "no".

Hi Ken, we're sorry to hear about your daughter's experience. We understand that those were not the results that you both were expecting.
To provide clarification, we recommend that students spend "+/-" 40 hours of studying before their test because since the program is customized to students' weaknesses and difficulty level, some students may need more or less time to achieve the program's goal of mastering the 49 SAT skills.
Regarding the 160-point improvement guarantee, we transparently state the condition of finishing the course on the terms that accompany every mention of the guarantee on our website (https://www.prepscholar.com/terms-of-service/#160-guarantee). Our guarantee is tied to the completion of the program because once a student demonstrates their proficiency on the program's quizzes, we have no doubt that they should be able to improve +160 points on the real test, and thus we're able to offer a money-back guarantee.
