I bought a 53t Rotor aero chainring with a 130BCD which is practically impossible to find anywhere, even at the Rotor shop. I had my doubts because of the low rating off the shop. The prize was great, the shipping cost not so much (20.58€ within the EU), but the product arrived in less than a week and as advertised.
I paid for a power2max NGco a month ago, it still hasn't arrived and and costumer support team have been super unhelpful.
1) They spent three weeks dithering over whether to sell me a crash replacement unit, after initially saying they would.
2) They clean forgot about my order for over a week after I paid them
3) After the shippers messed up, P2M tried to convince me it was my problem not theirs (this is legally untrue)
4) P2M tried to convince me they couldn't alter the shipping destination (again untrue), until I persisted arguing with them
5) They generally had an attitude of not caring, and considering everything was my problem when they failed to send me the goods I'd paid for.
A month after I paid and two months after I contacted them, I still don't have a power meter. If you're thinking of buying a Power2Max ... don't bother!
The package was sent several days after the purchase. After installation I experienced problems with the provided crankset asymmetry (significant wobble of the chainrings). I contacted the supported and explained the problem. The support questioned if it is really a problem asked for some additional tests, which were done by me.
Afterwards, a long cycle of sending the reply by me and waiting many days (up to 2 weeks) for a response started. The best thing that support offered was sending the crankset back for inspection. I didn't want to get rid of it, since it was the only crankset available for my road bike and losing a chance to use it for several weeks, perhaps months during the summer was out of the question.
I started doing research and found that many people that purchased Rotor crankset through power2max experienced similar problems.
Eventually, after several weeks, I decided to buy another crank and replace the spider. This improved the wobble significantly. I sent the crank back and got refund for it.
Overall - it seems it was problem created by Rotor, which power2max was not able to handle in a consumer-oriented way. The power meter itself works OK, though if I would be purchasing another one again, I would look elsewhere.
BTW, I tried contacting Rotor for help and they always said it's not their problem.
04/03/18 ordered FSA NEGECO 490E . Order status stayed as pending for a week. So i emailed them. Got a prompt reply saying they had not received payment. Ok I thought i clicked Paypay at the time of purchase. But followed the link and paid by paypal again . Logged back in to check status the next day and it was saying processing. Tried to check again 3 days later and the log in failed and no sign of a log in on the new website. So filled in a contact form to inquire on status, and the submit button fails to submit. So i have no way of tracking my order. Now i just have to wait, but i wonder for how long. Let's hope the product is better than their online shopping experience.
Lasted 22 months, now (winter 2020) a piece of expensive junk
Purchased their watt meter through the FSA brand in October 2018. I was recovering from a spinal injury and needed Left Right data and this was advertised as needing a firmware update but would deliver this.
Three months late the update became available in early 2019
To install the update you have to buy Blue-tooth access: €50
To get the left-right read-out you have to buy that update: €50
To install the meter I had to get a bike shop to change my existing FSA BB: €120
So Watt meter cost started at €610 and has now reached €830 ... cost of off the shelf Garmin left-right pedals €840 and available last October when I needed them. I have not yet bought the firmware updates and am looking for a way out before I throw yet more good money after bad
I've now used the original product for about 10 rides and it does work ... but this extension to it's built-in capabilities - my reason for the original purchase - has NOT been thought through, was NOT advertised as an additional cost and is NOT worth the money
.... and it died in 2021
I've not used my power meter yet. I may append my review with my feedback about it later. At this point I just wanted to testify about my pre-sale / post-sale experience.
In few words, this company rocks! They communicate promptly, answer all my questions as well as provide me with detailed advice. After I placed my order, it was shipped right away (felt almost too fast:). Of course, I've got the tracking number and today it was finally arrived - exactly as per estimated schedule. Everything packed nicely.
I hope it works as described - but it's just WOW, so far!
UPDATE: November 2, 2015
I had to find some time out of my schedule to install it, but finally it's done. There is no hardcore usage feedback at this point yet, however mechanics and electronics seems working fine, I'll be using it on daily basis from now on and see how it goes. Installation experience only adds to what I've said before - can't be happier.
I've owned a power2max for 2 years, and never experienced any problems. Consistent power readings, and long battery life.
If you're not a weight weenie, I'll recommend this powermeter to everybody.
