My dreams have come true! I am now the proud owner of a brilliantly designed and executed slab roller. Thank you John for taking the time to design and build a slab roller that works effortlessly and with precision. You can roll so thin it's mind boggling. It also stores away vertically!! I am so grateful! Thank you to James Ort for sharing his experience with owning, not one, BUT two of these slab rollers! I've tried the tiny portable slab rollers and just couldn't use them, but I don't have space or the budget for the big ones sold by the mainstream pottery retailers. This year, I tried one of these Potters Bits slab rollers at a workshop and it was so good I decided I'd just have to go for it. No regrets. I knew I was getting a high quality bit of kit but I didn't realise the inspiration that would come with it - so many new ideas, all so easy to try now I've got perfect slabs ready in just a few minutes. I thought I was a wheel thrower, but this machine has me converted to handbuilding. 100% recommend.

I have used it extensively since and have to say I am very impressed, I had looked around for a while but saw a review for potters bits from someone else. I've never used a slab Roller before but was getting fed up of hand rolling and making larger slabs for larger forms was becoming a real pain! So I started looking for a small desk top slab roller (I have a very small shed I do my pottery in) that could produce large enough slabs at various thicknesses - all the way down to 2mm as I make jewellery too. I had almost given up until I came across mention of this one on a blog. It didn't use sheets of wood to vary the thickness (like some of the other rollers I had looked at do) and it had a huge range of thicknesses, a decent sized plate and could be stored on it's side when not in use. I contacted John directly and within 3 days I had my slab roller! Amazingly quick, thanks John. I had my first proper play with it this weekend and it's a beauty! I love the stopper so you can mark exactly where your roller was - I've used a posca pen to mark the positions I want for various different things so I can go back to that position for consistency. It just about fits on my work bench but the fact that I can store it on its side means I haven't really lost a lot of space. It rolls really well and can achieve very thin to very thick slabs. Very well designed, I just added felt feet so I can move it around easily on my work top without scratching the surface. It has bought a new aspect to my pottery practise for which I am very pleased.

You can tell this is quality equipment when you open the box. It has been the best purchase ever, saves so much time and makes your work more consistent. I would highly recommend one for any potter or pottery studio.

I am enjoying the slab roller. I just have to remember to use extra bits of cloth or even plastic to protect the canvas from coloured clay.

This is an excellent product, well engineered, a very good price and made in the UK. It has revolutionised my studio making slab building a joy rather than an awful chore and I can now produce glaze test tiles by the hundred :) . I love my new slab roller from Potter's Bits, it is small enough to sit on the table and as quite a small woman, I can easily lift it and put it away when not in use making it perfect for a small studio. Delivery was prompt and speedy andf I cannot recommend it highly enough. Just buy one!

I am so happy with my slab roller. It's very sturdy and beautifully made and does exactly what it's supposed to do! Hand delivered and demonstrated by the maker himself too - what more can one ask for?

Very prompt delivery. Excellent communication and the slab roller was everything I wanted. I particularly like the mechanism to lift the roller. It can be set and adjusted for accurate level thicknesses. I am able to store on its side and lift onto my work table when needed although it is quite heavy and awkward to lift, at 70 I manage and it’s the price to pay for a very stable and well engineered piece of equipment. It has certainly made my life easier as hand rolling was becoming difficult!
