My husband and I booked a spa as a treat. We spent more than advertised as there are a few hidden charges. If going on a weekend there was an extra supplement.The robes and slippers were an extra cost which were over priced for 3 hours wear, never the less we payed it.
After changing we were asked to go through the door and wait in the lounge and then we were seated for our meal - the food isn't worth the price. A main of £14 with a side of shredded ice berg lettuce and what tasted like microwave chips, again over priced for what it is out of what appeared to be a make shift kitchen "hidden" behind room dividers. We were offered one drink whilst we were there, we had to ask for another.
The treatments were average. Masseus Christina looked like she wanted to be anywhere but at the spa which is off putting when you are half dressed in a room with her. The body realignment was not at all a realignment. A bend of the legs and arms and that was it.
The staff downstairs were friendly although it seemed very short staffed. The lady running reception was running around the spa bless her.
Overall it was OK.
I personally wouldn't go back.

Currently lying on my couch after an amazingly chilled spa day. This is the third spa day with my best friend at Portland Hall Spa and we will definitely be back again. We both have very stressful jobs and after today have decided to make it a more regular occurrence. We had a delicious three course meal, Spa pool, neck, shoulder, back massage, Facial and head massage. The staff are excellent, very friendly and welcoming, the therapists expertly worked away the stress and knots and the food is absolutely delicious always a great menu. The ambience of the building is so relaxing and comfortable you just want to sleep ! I would highly recommend this Spa and already looking at the next visit ❤️

I visited Portland Hall Spa today with my partner. They managed to fit us in last minute for treatments and use of the jacuzzi pool area. We were greeted by Jenny at reception who was very friendly and made us feel welcome. We were provided with robes and slippers then taken to the treatment rooms. We both had a hot stone massage, I had the body alignment treatment whilst by partner had the scalp massage and then we both had facials. Both of us loved the treatment, it was all very relaxing! After the treatment Martin showed us down to the spa pool. As we were booked last minute and it was late, he even offered to keep the pool open slightly later so we could have the full experience! We had food and Prosecco and couldn’t fault any of it.

Martin and has staff went above and beyond and really set the standard for how spas should be run. Can’t wait to visit again!

I purchased a voucher via wowcher at a cost of £79. The images show a beautiful pool area, a candlelit treatment room and beautiful food. Just trying to book was a faff. The voucher was redeemed and then came a long winded email full of information and additional costs.

Robes and slippers are £7.90pp, and there is an admin fee of £3pp and a Friday -Sunday and holiday supplement of £12pp. That’s an additional £26 before walking through the door! Some of these costs were generously wavered if upgrading. I opted for afternoon tea at a cost of £19.50pp.

Arriving, we were greeted at reception and taken to an area to fill out forms. We then went to get changed and were shown to a large waiting area which consisted of lots of couches. There was relaxing music playing but this was spoiled by the noise from the dining area next door and a strange smell which I assume was food related.

We were then taken upstairs for treatments… to a shared room! Whilst i wanted to spend the day with my mum, I wasn’t too keen on stripping off in front of her or giving any confidential info to the therapist! Instead of the beautiful image I’d seen, the room was tiny and nothing special, it didn’t particularly smell good either. Not bad but just- nothing! We were covered by thin sheets that looked like they’d seen better days.

The back massage was ok but no discussion other than what pressure I wanted was discussed beforehand. My second treatment body alignment was literally my legs bent and stretched and then my arms pulled slightly! I was then told to turn over for my facial which again was nothing special and as there was no prior discussion, I had no expectations. After treatment, we were told to get up and dressed snd someone would be waiting outside.

We were then taken downstairs and shown to the restaurant for afternoon tea… mid morning! Wowcher described it as decadent- it definitely wasn’t! There were a choice of sandwiches on bread that had gone slightly hard/crusty on the edges and a selection of cakes but nothing that was really tasty. We left a lot of it and declined the offer to take any home. A pot of tea was served snd when we asked for a top up of hot water, was told this would be at an additional cost.

Having finished our food by 1130, we went to look round for somewhere to relax. We were offered a seat in the gazebo - effectively 2 seats in the car park or back to the room with couches and kitchen noises/smell. When asking about the pool/seating area, we were abruptly told it quite clearly stated a charge of £27.50 pp for an hour and they didn’t have any other facilities. With nothing else to do, we left by midday and definitely won’t be returning. The whole experience felt very rushed and we came away feeling really disappointed.

Just got back from
A spa day at the portland hall spa. The staff are really lovely but it felt a bit under staffed. We were offered a welcome drink on arrival and got given our robes and slippers and went to the Lockers where we were given a key and told to wait in the lounge for a drink. We were waiting for half and hour and jever got the drink. The treatments were lovely but the room was quite cold and we only had like scarf material to keep us warm but despite that we felt very relaxed.The food we ordered was soup and the houmous and wasnt that great it was very bland and didnt have much taste at all which was a shame. I think if they sort the staffing issue out snd put warmer blankets in the rooms it would be lovely

Booked a lovely package for my wife for valentines day sadly due to staff illness it had to be moved to the 15th Feb 2022 Nina emailed us offered free upgrade exotic mud experience and hot stones with massage it was amazing massive Thankyou to Nina & staff made our time at the spar wonderful totally enjoyed it oh my soup was beautiful & of course wife loved the cocktails once again Thankyou all

Disgusting customer service. After telling me via email they had availability on the day of my daughter's 21st I went and bought the Wowcher deal. When I asked them to book the day and time discussed nobody got back to me til this day. Leaving me not able to book anywhere else because it was too last minute to book 4 people for a spa day in other venues. Very inconsiderate. My daughter had to settle for a shopping day instead which wasn't what she wanted. All they had to do was reply sorry we can't book you in after all and I would of had time to make other arrangements elsewhere. They don't even care.

We visited here last week and only ended up having some partial treatments as things were missed off that we should have had. We paid £75 to hire the hot tub, the water was nowhere near hot enough and the spa bath kept going off, each time resulting in us having to get out and walk down to reception in wet costumes to get the bath reset, we gave up in the end. We paid over £220 for an afternoon of what was supposed to be pampering. The only good thing was the light snack we had which was delicious. I sent an email to the spa to explain what had happened and how disappointed we were not have received the full treatments and spa pool that we had paid for and am still waiting for a response, the complaint seems to have been totally ignored. I personally wouldn't waste hard earned money here again if they can't even respond to a complaint. Portland Hall seem very happy to take your money yet have no interest in trying to sort out the problems we encountered.

Booked this spa on two separate occasions, without visiting prior. During the first visit, I found the facilities to be poor, the quality of the treatments was basic, robes were tired and well worn.

Based on the above, I downgraded my second visit. 3 months later, I have only been issued with a partial refund - despite the refund amount being agreed in advance. Had my emails ignored since Feb 2020.
Second visit is scheduled for later this week. Did they email to advise they were closing the facility? Nope. Did they issue a refund? Nope.

If you’re considering a spa, there are far better spas in the area. Pay that little bit extra, go to one with better facilities and improved customer service.
