I'm getting really fed up with PF

I'm getting really fed up with PF. In the past year they have closed the 3 preferred NYC locations for us - Duffield, Chelsea and now Wall St - without opening ANY new ones nearby. The result is remaining locations are so crowded they're unusable. I fear I now have to seek out another gym, which is unfortunate because we travel a lot and it was great having access in other cities and states

WTF.....PF Express was the BEST THING ABOUT PF

2 nd Planet Fitness I've been in that has eliminated the PF Express room; in it's place they are placing several of the EXACT SAME free weight apparatus. Thus, doing away with the most appealing PF aspect, every day all around total body room for the normal fitness minded person.Apparently , they are wanting to speak to power lifters. Very short sighted, looking for another gym

They don’t allow you to cancel online + taking money after canceled.

They don’t allow you to cancel online, I canceled in person and they still charged me 50$. I do NOT recommend, if you want to lose your money then go here but they will do anything they can to keep taking your hard earned money. Go to a cheap local gym, personally I do not think Planet Fitness is a good place considering they will most likely keep charging you.

My local gym closed

My local gym closed. I tried to join Planet fitness. What I wanted was to join, put the monthly charges on my card and lift. The 24 yr old female working there was uncooperative and arrogant. I told her to sign me up without downloading some app and playing on my phone, she said they couldn't do that. I walked out. Will locate another gym that is not marketed like Elle Magazine. Planet Fitness absolutely sucks.

When I go mid-morning

This is for the Wall Twp. Planet Fitness on Rte 35: When I go mid-morning, between 9-10 am there is almost always a wait time for treadmills, and it’s not always quick, and there is always a wait time for machines. I spend a lot of time waiting!

I froze my account while I was out of the country…

I froze my account while I was out of the country on Oct.15 for 2 months (Oct 17 -Dec 17) but they froze it December and January. When I went in on Dec 22, they told me my account was frozen and they had charged me on Oct 17 for Oct 17 - Nov 17. The refused to give me a month for the month they charge me (when I was out of the country) or give me my money back.

I had been going to the Crunch gym in…

I had been going to the Crunch gym in Poinciana for two years, but now there's a new Planet Fitness gym here, and I can say I really liked it. They have very good, up-to-date equipment, the bathrooms are very nice and clean, and it even has a separate area with excellent massage chairs and other amenities. You truly find everything at this gym; it's much better than Crunch. I highly recommend it and give it five stars.

Rude girl at desk

Rude girl at desk. Wouldn’t let my son in, which is fair. We didn’t have the right paperwork but she was very rude. Funny that she let him in when we bought the membership. She had her guard up right away and said “I already told you we need the paperwork. His birth certificate is somewhere at his mom’s. She should not have acted like we did something wrong.

15-Year BLACK Member Falsely Accused of Theft — 11 Months of Silence from Planet Fitness Corporate

I have been a Planet Fitness member for approximately 15 years. What I experienced in January 2025 — and the 11 months of complete inaction that followed — represents one of the most unprofessional, humiliating, and irresponsible customer experiences I have ever encountered.

On January 22, 2025, I was publicly pulled away from my workout at the Irvington location and escorted to the front desk in front of other members. I was told there was an issue with my account. I was then informed that my home gym had a file accusing me of theft, allegedly supported by “evidence.”

This accusation was false.

When I immediately went to my home gym in Newark, the manager confirmed that they had received a call claiming I was caught stealing. However:
• No one could identify who made the accusation
• No one could produce any evidence
• No one could locate any documentation to support the claim

When the Wall Street location — the gym allegedly responsible for the report — was contacted, management there stated they had no record, no knowledge, and no documentation of any such accusation and confirmed that this situation did not align with company protocol.

Despite this:
• My name was still flagged internally
• I was publicly embarrassed
• I was forced to defend myself against a baseless allegation
• And I have received zero acknowledgment from Planet Fitness corporate despite repeated follow-ups over 11 months

There has been extensive management turnover, but every new manager confirmed they were “aware of the situation” and promised follow-up — none of which ever materialized.

Being falsely accused of theft is serious. Being accused without evidence is reckless. Allowing such an accusation to circulate internally without accountability or correction is defamatory. And ignoring a long-term member for nearly a year demonstrates a systemic failure of leadership and corporate responsibility.

I am now making this complaint public because private channels have failed.

Planet Fitness promotes itself as a “Judgment Free Zone.” My experience proves otherwise.

I am still awaiting:
• A formal acknowledgment from corporate
• Confirmation that all false records have been removed
• A written apology
• Accountability for how this was allowed to happen

Until then, I cannot recommend Planet Fitness to anyone who values dignity, transparency, or basic professionalism.

I came from a different gym prior but…

I came from a different gym prior but going to planet fitness for a couple months now.. I'm getting used to it and it's half the price and just a few blocks away... it works for me!.. i will say that their front desk should have a couple office chairs for their staff. No sense in their people standing all day waiting for the next person plus it's not physically good for you. I think it's a
more welcoming entry when greeted by people who are comfortable and are still good to stand when you come into the facility... no chairs seems to be a hovering effect and uneccesary when entering an establishment.. plus they need a bench by the lockers when people require changing their shoes if applicable.. I hope planet fitness sees this post and I do like their gym :) ... Michelle s.

Decent enough gym

Decent enough gyms, they're making steady improvements and are easy to find. Billing practices are still questionable if you need to cancel though.

Planet Fitness Stamford Harborview - Poor Communication and Unprofessional Service

I have been a long-term member of Planet Fitness Stamford (Harborview), CT, and I am extremely disappointed by how a simple and reasonable request was handled regarding the gym closure for renovations.

Timeline of Events:
No Notification of Closure:
The club was closed for renovation from late September through early November 2025. I received no email or notification regarding this closure. I discovered the closure only when I arrived at the gym in late September or early October and saw a note on the door stating the club would reopen in October.

Initial Inquiry and Assurance:
In late October, I called the club to ask about the reopening date. A staff member informed me the renovation was delayed until November and assured me I could request a refund or credit once the gym reopened. She even noted this on my account.

Multiple Attempts to Contact the Manager:
After the gym reopened, I visited the front desk to request my refund. I was told I must call the club manager, Tiffany, at a number that required a transfer. My first call reached a staff member who said the manager was unavailable and asked me to call another day.

Interaction with the Manager (Nov 25, 2025):
When I finally reached Tiffany:
She refused to issue a refund, stating a membership credit might be possible but only if I came in person for verification, despite having my profile and photo visible on her screen.
She insisted that an email about the closure had been sent, which I never received and later confirmed did not exist.
She could not verify me over the phone, which felt unreasonable given that all identifying information had already been provided.

Retaliation After Feedback (Nov 26, 2025):
After leaving honest feedback through the automated survey, I visited the gym in person. Tiffany informed me that only her supervisor could now handle the matter, refused to provide contact information, and told me I would need to wait 1-2 weeks to be contacted with no clear next steps. This approach felt dismissive, unhelpful, and inconsistent with the stated customer service standards of Planet Fitness.

Summary:
My request was straightforward: a refund or credit for two months during which I could not use the gym due to renovations about which I was never properly notified. Instead, I experienced inconsistent information, dismissive behavior, delays, and unprofessional treatment following honest feedback.

Impact:
This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing as a loyal, long-term member. It is unacceptable that a major fitness chain would handle a simple refund request in such an obstructive and unprofessional manner.

Desired Resolution:
Refund or membership credit for the months when the gym was closed.
Clear contact with district/regional leadership to escalate and resolve the matter.
Review and improvement of customer service and escalation procedures at this location.

Actions Taken (for transparency):
To ensure this issue is properly reviewed, I have taken the following steps and am currently awaiting responses:
1. Submitted a formal written complaint to Planet Fitness' Head of Customer Experience.
2. Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
3. Filed a consumer complaint with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.

I am sharing this information so that other members who may face similar situations understand their options and can protect their rights.

UPDATE 12/18/2025: While preparing to engage an attorney for a demand letter, Planet Fitness CT West District Manager Jessenia Rojas called on 12/4/2025. She issued a full refund of $21.28 for October/November plus a December credit due to renovations. Refund processing takes 7-10 business days—issue now resolved to my satisfaction.

Mixed Messages, Rude Management – I Cancelled My Membership

I recently cancelled my Black Card membership at Planet Fitness Vernon, BC, after a series of frustrating and disrespectful interactions about the red light therapy machine.

I chose the Black Card specifically so I could use the red light therapy and massage machines 2–3 times per week. Last week, a manager told me I was “not allowed” to use the red light machine twice because it could be harmful. Later, after she spoke with her superior, she admitted this restriction actually applies only to tanning and not to the red light therapy. She apologized, and I appreciated that correction.

However, on a later visit, a different manager, Kusampreet, again tried to enforce the same restriction on the red light machine. When I calmly explained that this had already been clarified by management, she refused to listen, told me she didn’t like my facial expressions, and called me rude. I left feeling talked down to and embarrassed in front of other members.

To make sure I wasn’t misunderstanding, I went to the official Planet Fitness Canada site and the Vernon club page. They clearly mention frequency limits for tanning, but I could not find any written policy limiting how often a Black Card member can use the red light / Total Body Enhancement booth. That lines up with what the first manager’s superior had already confirmed.

I go to the gym to improve my health and leave feeling better, not to argue with staff or have my character questioned. After being given conflicting information, then being treated as if I was the problem for asking for consistency, I no longer felt welcome or comfortable at this location.

This review is simply my experience, but I hope management takes it seriously. Clear, consistent policies and respectful communication would go a long way toward actually delivering the “Judgment Free” environment they advertise.

Unhappy Waukegan Member

I have been a member at the Waukegan, IL location for many years now. I loved the equipment and staff is very friendly. We recently had an upgrade on equipment. I'm not happy at all! All the ab machines were removed and replaced with cheaper equipment. Some of the new equipment are missing parts or installed incorrectly. It's really making my daily routine a disappointment.
