Extremely Disappointed After Years of Loyalty to Pidi’s Auto Sales in Tampa, FL

We’ve been loyal customers of Pidi’s Auto Sales in Tampa, FL Address: 5709 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33604 for many years, having purchased four vehicles from them. Unfortunately, our most recent experience has been nothing short of heartbreaking. A little over a month ago, we purchased a vehicle from them with the promise that all existing issues that were not minor would be fixed, or we could exchange it within 30 days if we weren’t satisfied.

If we had known they wouldn’t or could not follow through, we would have chosen a different vehicle with them no questions ask. We trusted their word because of the long-standing relationship we had with them. Otherwise, we absolutely would never have purchased a vehicle with these issues. We were open to choosing a different car that day, even one with fewer issues, but we believed them when they assured us that the problems would be fixed. We understand used cars can have wear and tear, and we were prepared to handle minor issues. However, these are not minor problems. The only reason we didn’t choose a different vehicle that day was because we trusted their word we actually really believed everything we were being told by them because they never did us wrong in the past.

I even asked for the agreement in writing but was told, “What, you don’t trust me?” Because we had never had a bad experience with them before, I took them at their word. That trust was misplaced.

The issues they promised to fix—including the engine mounts, throttle body, check engine light, and wiper blade motor—remain unresolved. They claimed parts were ordered, but every time we followed up, the answer was “come next Saturday.” A couple of weeks after buying the car, we also discovered that the oil drain plug had been JB welded, making it impossible to get an oil change. We notified them immediately, and they assured us it would be fixed we still really believe them. However, when we showed up today as instructed to have the oil pan fixed, along with the other promised repairs, we were told the person there was only instructed to change the oil—a repair that cannot even be completed without replacing the oil pan.

What makes this even more frustrating is that we already had the same biweekly payment plan agreed upon, so we didn’t have to give them extra money on top of the down payment our family helped us with. We could have kept that money and used it to fix the car ourselves, but we trusted Pidi Auto Sales in Tampa, FL, to honor their word. We knew it was an older car and were prepared to handle minor repairs ourselves if they were upfront about what they weren’t willing or couldn’t fix. But they assured us these repairs would be taken care of—and they haven’t been.

Pidi Auto Sales in Tampa, FL, used to have our loyalty, but their failure to honor their promises and their lack of accountability has been a huge letdown. I strongly advise others to think twice before trusting them with your hard-earned money.

When we showed up that day to buy this car, we were in a difficult place financially, as so many Americans are today. Coming up with the money to put a down payment on a used car was already a challenge for us. Scraping together $1,000 was no small feat. And then to think we could’ve kept the additional money and be fixing the car right now instead of giving it to them. To now be left with a vehicle in this condition, after trusting this dealership, is devastating. My heart is broken and I have no idea what we’re gonna do. My husband is the only one that is able to work. He is the sole provider because I am unable to work and he drives an hour back-and-forth to work every day. This is devastating.
