Does what it says it does

Solid. Does what it says it does. I use it for basic phone needs while abroad. It also has several business features that I don't really use much. Calls and text messages work as expected. I'd say the only drawback is that the app requires some polish--I'm really hoping they add 2FA via app or security keys, just because someone accessing your number can be dangerous.

Calling made easy

I can make calls to the US from family, friends to a lawyer, a police department, get messages and wrong calls all in my computer or cellphone.

Excellent for all purposes.

I have used this service since Skype…

I have used this service since Skype ended service. I do not use it very often. It helps to have an alternate number when I do not want to give out a personal number. The service is good and the low monthly cost is very helpful. Thank you.

I am using Phone2 as a replacement for Skype

I am using Phone2 as a replacement for Skype. I had used Skype since its inception. Skype was not without faults, the call clarity was sometimes compromised. With Phone2 every call has been clear and uninterrupted.
I believe there are issues that are from our Network and Internet connections that seem to cause Phone2 not to connect not the first attempt, I have learned to work with this.
I know that I can rely on Phone2 for calls to the US and Canada, I am in Fiji currently.
Another excellent and relieving feature is that Phone2 can be used for 2 Factor Verification with my bank - a big plus!
I hope that in the future Phone2 adds more Countries that can be called.
Thank you Phone2, it took a while to find a solid replacement for Skype. I have recommended Phone2 to friends and colleagues and they are also pleased.

Good connection…

I don´t use Phone 2 that often but when I do I sometimes make long calls and practically never disconnected, this was a quite bothersome problem with Skype.

Phone2 is a great value and the call…

Phone2 is a great value and the call quality is very good. I bought a lifetime subscription to replace Skype. I researched every alternative and found Phone2 was the only one that met my needs as a person living in Southeast Asia who frequently needs to call the USA. The Web interface is not as streamlined as Skype was but once you understand it, it works fine.

I been using the phone for a while now

I been using the phone for a while now. I am a long time Skype user. The phone has worked well, and I got to keep my number. I had two issues which probably have a solution. I usually use the number on my computer. I tried to add it to my cell phone as well and did not work well for me. I can get text messages, but I cannot text back. They offer the ability to do that, but it was for some reason a little complicated to set up and we had to get some documents to do it. It was not worth my time to do it

Phone2 / Phone2.io review

Phone2 / Phone2.io review

Be very careful with this service. They advertise that their numbers work for two-factor authentication with banks, but in practice this is misleading.

In my case, they did receive an initial verification text from Bank of America when changing a phone number, but Bank of America will not send authorization or security codes to a VoIP number for live account verification. That makes the service unusable for its intended purpose.

When I requested a refund, it was denied. Phone2 claimed “proof of service” based only on the initial verification text, which is not the same as full 2FA access. This distinction was not made clear before purchase.

Bottom line: the service may receive some SMS messages, but it does not reliably work for banking or secure 2FA, and refunds appear difficult or impossible once you pay.

Misinformation on website

Misinformation on website. 30 day no questions asked risk free guarantee is false. They ask too many questions to refuse returning the money back. Sometimes customers want to try the interface or trail before committing and Phone2 doesn’t let you do that without forking over one month of payment. Customer service argues with you and misinformation on website. Not a trustworthy company with what’s listed on their homepage.
