Not worth the money

You pay a fortune, to insure your pet, cost going up all the time with this company and when you try to claim, they do all they can pay out as little as possible.
Put a claim in for over £350 by the time they had taken excess and extra excess for our dog being old and refused to pay for certain medication we got £170 back Go somewhere else please not worth the money they charge

Do NOT think about a policy with pets in a pickle

I don’t even want to put any stars as they do not deserve it……

My dog was in need of urgent care yesterday, the vet rang pets in a pickle for pre-authorisation for payment of treatment and pets in a pickle refused this.
They expected me to pay upfront (a potential cost of over £2000 which of course I didn’t have) and said I would need to claim it back.
What is the point of paying for insurance when it clearly is not fit for purpose!
I will NOT be renewing my policy with them and will resort to the more expensive insurance that will help when you need it most. Disgusting service and I would never ever recommend pets in a pickle to anyone! Think twice before taking out a policy.

Appalling pet insurers lacking credibility - no stars

I would give this awful company less than one star if I was able. They spend a fortune advertising on LBC radio which is really galling to hear, considering that they hardly pay out on claims and take ages to do so when they do. Absolutely detestable company, to avoid the measuring heartache of having to deal with them she do need to make a claim, avoid at all costs if you want to keep your beloved pets safe.

I looked for a quote on Thursday night…

I looked for a quote on Thursday night from your website. I was quoted a figure of £8.95 per month.
When I went to confirm it tonight it is now £28.45. I take it the first offer was click bait.
Be upfront and truthful, I have looked on your site and seen your reviews, Shameful!

Just don't is all I can say.

The absolute worst insurance company we have had the misfortune of using.

Just had several trips to the vets for some serious conditions but I mistakenly thought "Well at least the insurance will cover most of the cost".

Boy was I wrong, every claim has been refused thanks to crafty small print leaving me in a couple grands worth of debt.

I've used many insurance companies in my time but this is the first that clearly shows they don't care about their customers one iota.

Don't bother to email asking why your claim was denied because they will just ignore you, don't bother to phone either as you just end up speaking to someone who is clearly lacking any kind of training in their systems.

Please never use this company.

Slow Slow SLOW!!

Extremely slow at processing claims. This is either the second or third time I’ve made a claim at Pets in a Pickle, last time they took ages to process it and this time it seems to be the same.
I’ve phoned up twice and have been told that the team are behind in processing the claims. At first they also couldn’t find my claim until checking multiple inboxes which was a bit suspicious.

The staff are very polite and are always lovely it’s just a shame how slow everything takes to be dealt with.

I have been waiting months for my claim…

I have been waiting months for my claim to be completed I have been told on several occasions that I would be prioritised which didn’t happen one generic email after another since August it’s now December to add insult to injury they are now trying to reduce what they have to pay me by linking the blood test to a dental which I personally paid for costing over £1000 the blood test cost £250 I would not recommend this company to anyone and would never use them again any excuse not to pay out and to try and reduce what your entitled to I’ve had pet insurance for over 15 years never experienced anything like this clearly another money making firm that’s not interested in the customer it’s not the pets that are left in pickle it’s the owners who claim

(revised) slow but gets there

I've revised my initial review. Pets in a Pickle responded promptly to my second less polite email and updated me, gave me a time frame and they stuck to it. Hence from 1 star to 4. Communication drastically improved and happy with the service. Reccomend? Well yes. However, if you claim it could take a while to get it settled, even if straight forward and do read the small print - as with any insurance policy.
Got there in the end.

Excellent communication throughout

Excellent communication throughout, including policy provision and processing of claim.

Good value policy for Ultimate protection and when dealing with my claim the various stages and timescales were clearly explained and advised if further details or clarification was required.

We rehomed our cat and Pets in a Pickle cancelled the policy with no quibbles and refunded me the difference. Quick and easy! 😊

Claim granted without any argument

Took time to pay claim but tbh the online vet was superb ! Not at any time did I feel they were trying to get out of paying & for the price i paid compared to some insurance quotes i cant complain!
Was hoping would never need insurance was told not to bother as never payout
So glad I didn't listen!

Paid out no problems, just took a bit of time

I was really worried reading all the negative reviews before submitting the claim for our dog's severe bout of pancreatitis, that resulted in several days hospital admissions. The claim was submitted via the vet in the only availble form - paper- 3,5 weeks ago and I got the confirmation my text and email that they received it. A few days ago I had an email and text confirming approval of the claim. Today I recieved the money in the b/a. Their claim review time is a bit longer than other companies I have dealt with and submitting repeat claims for the same condition is not as straight forward as in, for instance, Tesco insurance (could be done online) therefore 1 star was taken off the experience review.
I had to make a phone call to the customer services and didn't find it difficult to get through, the lady was very helpful and answered all my questions.
My premium is just over 7 pounds per months and the claim paid out was near £850 pounds.

What a shambles this company are

What a shambles this company are. My dog died in January. My vet has submitted all the paperwork. They kept emailing me saying the vet has not responded to this or that (when, in fact, they had). Its now the end of May and I am still getting texts and emails telling me they are very busy and I will hear from them in 4 weeks. I've been having these since putting in a claim. Very distressing to keep getting these texts and insensitive. They also keep ringing me to ask if i want to renew my other dog's insurance. They must be joking!

Go elsewhere

You've read all the reviews, you know what to do. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere! This company do not want to pay out on claims. I've already been waiting for over 5 weeks, just been told today it will be at least another two weeks.

Extremely disappointed with this…

Extremely disappointed with this company very quick to take your money charge for Change of address etc but as for paying out on valid claims it has been passed around from one person to another since November I have rang every week to be promised a payment by weekend this never happens
Would not recommend this company at all my dog is 15 they have me backed into a corner because to change policies now would mean more expense
Save yourself the time don’t bother !

Like to take your money

Like to take your money! Name change charged me for that.... canceling policy charged me for that! When it comes to actually paying the customer any money back it's like getting blood out of a stone. Much better saving and putting money away for your pets than giving any to this pet insurance company.
