Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 45 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the basic banking processes frustrating, with issues like blocked cards and difficulties with simple bank transfers. Communication was often poor, and people reported not receiving updates or being informed about important account changes. The customer service was frequently described as terrible, with long wait times, unhelpful staff, and a lack of responsiveness, particularly through web chat. Online banking was consistently found to be unreliable and difficult to access, leading to problems with payments and account management. Some people were dissatisfied with the mortgage application process, finding it overly complicated and ultimately unsuccessful, even for loyal customers. Terrible Customer service

Terrible Customer service. We had the misfortune of having our mortgage moved to them from Ulster Bank and regret not researching another alternative. The level of care they present to customers is below zero. Long hold wait times. Calling them a bunch of Muppets only insults Kermit, Miss Piggy and Fozzy Bear!

Dreadful customer service

Dreadful customer service! Just been to my branch in Rathfarnham - a large empty space, devoid of both staff and customers. Eventually someone approached. I explained I wanted to invest/deposit some money. Did I have an appointment? No. Then they couldn't help. I would need to arrange an appointment first. I left. The staff person bade me a cheery goodbye. Couldn't have cared less. What is going on with our banks? Thank heavens for Revolut!

The worst customer service I have ever…

The worst customer service I have ever had to endure in any industry without question. Ptsb are the most anal, useless, airheaded morons with whom I have ever suffered the displeasure of sharing a planet. Every time I think that they could not possibly outdo themselves in terms of asinine, inexcusable, and indefensible incompetence, they do just that.
I've been on hold for twenty minutes waiting to resolve a minor issue that only exists because Ptsb need their hand held throughout even the most basic processes. I'm fuming, wasting time, and wishing I was doing anything but listening to their stupid hold tone.
I hate Permanent Tsb with a passion. i hate them so much. never ever use this bank. i've spent 40 minutes over the phone trying to sort a basic issue out and now i have to go into the branch in four days time to simply be allowed to log in to my account. never trust these jokers with your money

PRSB VERY BAD SERVICE We are customers for 35years with ptsb…

We are customers for 35years with ptsb we have a good amount of savings abs 6 weeks ago received a letter saying we had 60 days to take out our money under term 20B. 12 phone calls all taking g about 1 hour 2 visits and meetings with bank manager, calls to complaints dept. We cannot get a satisfactory answer why they are closing the account. Money laundering dept and fraud dept were mentioned. I said item 20B is not a valid reason as this just states in t and c that ptsb can give 60 days notice to close the account. We have never been in any trouble with guards and PTSB are using fraud and money laundering to us. Absolutely scared the life out of us as we thought someone may have got into our account. Absolutely disgraceful. Complaints just said its closing no explanation at all. I just need to know why they would want to close the account. Is it a mix up with someone else's account. The time wasted on phone calls and calling to the bank is terrible. We've changed banks now but I feel a proper explanation is needed. Should I go to a solicitor as we feel we are being branded criminals. I actually felt sorry for the staff because they looked incompetent as they could not give me an answer or say who picked our account to close it... shocking and very upsetting.

Awful for online banking

Awful, awful, awful- app is the worst banking app out there- down way too many times than seems normal for everyday banking!!! Server down today and cannot make a simple purchase online… call centre has no out of hours service, had to call the fraud line to make sure there was an issue and not that my card had been compromised!!! Shockingly bad for online banking- fed up and time to move!!

Terrible experience PTSB Stilorgan

Terrible experience l, lodge cash at station in Stilorgan, the machine took my money and throw an error then called one of the workers there and she said there's nothing she can do and I have to wait till close bussines days and couldn't give me a receipt of the lodgement so I had to wait inside the branch as how can you trust a bank like that. Just a disgrace as I had other things to do and had to wait there.

I failed the impossible verification test:)

Trying to access my mortgage account through their app. 20 minutes on hold, passed through 3 different departments. Eventually got to the person who would give me the Open24 number I required to access the account. I failed the verification test as I couldn't remember the original mortgage amount or the exact term. This was AFTER passing another verification test earlier to get my mortgage account number and balance.
To resolve the agent offered to transfer me to another department who would attempt to verify me again and who would pass me back to the agent. At this stage I started considering my options and I decided to hang up in compete despair.
This is absolutely the stupidest customer (non) service I have ever received. Is this a real bank.....? I actually hope that someone there listens to the recording of the interaction.....great material for a comedy sketch

Receieved excellent support at TSB Clifton branch

Went into TSB Clifton branch today and the help and support we relieved from Ryan O ' Dinnell was absolutely outstanding. He supported myself and my Daughter complete a dispute online and also supported with applying for a TSB loan. He is extremely acknowledgable and showed a great deal of patience! He is a credit to TSB bank and we are very grateful for his support this morning

Been a customer for 40 years

Been a customer for 40 years, never have I been so insulted in all my life (74yrs). the financial trickery and manipulation of innocent people with limited income is nothing short of fraud. I will be lobbying my local politicians in conjunction with complaints to the Financial Regulator. Hopefully I can get a journalist to champion the cause and investigate the scandalous nature of the 'smoke and mirrors' tactics employed by the PTSB AND EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THE 'BRASS' AND COMPLIANT STAFF OF THE ORGANISATION. Shame on everyone of you.

I would give them 0 star if i could

I would give them 0 star if i could, zero customer service. I couldn't order a card online, couldn't change the address at the bank, couldn't set up online banking. I went to the branch on Grafton Street- they order the card and said it will be delivered at O'Connell Street branch- a month later I was chasing them for my card which never arrived at any of the branches on Grafton Street nor O'Connell Street- it appear it was lost- no notifications, nothing. Therefore 0 stars for everything.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. An absolute joke of a bank, I'm specifically talking about PTSB in rathfarnham village. My mam is 75 years old and all she wanted to do was to amend the amount of an existing standing order from her PTSB to the credit union. Instead , the first time she went down, they cancelled it instead. The second time she thought it was all in order but they sent her a letter saying her signature didn't match, even though she bought her passport as ID and her hands are crippled so she couldn't sign as she used to. Six months of going back and forth and my mam who is 75 and in ill health having to go down 4 times to the bank, they still did nothing, I went down with her to the bank to sort it out, we spent an hour there, filled out all the forms and I thought it was all sorted but no, but a couple of weeks later, we find out it's not! This is beyond disgraceful. Shame on you PTSB! I'll be making a formal complaint to the financial regulator about your conduct. If you are reading this review, then please take my advice and do not go near this bank, they are totally incompetent and don't care

Obsalutely shocking customer care…

Obsalutely shocking customer care experience!!! Any phone numbers provided online can call forever and no one will answer! With direct branch numbers is the same story! Online chat is even more shocking as Agents don't even read the text to be able understand what client asking about. Security system is an awful, twice money went out from account without a chance get it back. Shocking bank!!!!

Stuck in the 1980s

I was unfortunate enough that PTSB acquired all the previous UlsterBank mortgages and had to deal with them for the past few years. They had outsourced the dealing with these type of Pepper, which were unable to actually provide any information via phone and everything had to done via physical letters, not a chance to get an email with a statement or even see this online.
The branch is not any better, as I was advised they'd online deal with new mortgage clients. Any existing mortgages need to contact their 'help' line...
I was finally able to switch to another bank after the fixed term ran out and they are just trying to delay thing as much as possible and charge the most random fees. Not that I could detail what exactly they call the fees as again I have to wait 60! days for a closing statement that might provide me with some information. The overpaid amount? I have been waiting now for 2 weeks and the money is still not back in my account. They helpful comment that I got was that I just keep checking my bank account and hope that it comes soon 🥸

From good to BAD

I recently opened a new account with PTSB, which was a bit of a nightmare. Anyway, I got it opened and was asked about house insurance, which I was interested in. I mentioned that my house insurance was up at the end of August and was assured that someone would call me within the next two days. However, it's been 3 weeks and I'm yet to receive a call. I've tried calling, but the automated system needed to be more helpful. After several attempts, I finally got through to a human, but I couldn't understand them. I believe a human touch in customer service is crucial, and I hope they can work on this.
I wish banks, etc., would make their customer services more friendly and listen to what we want, not what they want. The banks don't care about the over 65 anymore, and the profits they make from our money are extortionate.

I work for a company with 1000s of iIE staff and it looks like PTSB users won't be getting paid today, the only Bank that has processing issues. We are used to getting paid late but it's now after 5pm . Embarrassing.
