Great customer service. Placed my order over the phone because I wanted help in deciding the model I want. Got great service and discounts.
Then the shipping company was not clear about when I want the delivery made. Contacted Pergolux customer service and my issue was promptly and satisfactorily resolved.
Had a good consultation with the Pergolux recommended installer. Now waiting for the inspection to be done.

Isaiah helped me out greatly! I don't understand why no one will to a customer needing help. The texting or just email, leaves a lot to be desired when trying to explain you issues. I was sold a wall mount kit and Elite said there too many issues with house to install. AIT is coming to pick up the return. Isaiah told me someone would contact me to order a freestanding kit. Have not received any contact yet
My interaction has been stellar with Pergolux. The customer care and wise intelligence of the company has been outstanding.

Great communication and pleasant people to work with. Irene was fantastic! She worked with me on all my questions and requests. Customer service has also been very responsive and helpful. I just placed my order so Customer Service is just now taking over the order but so far they have been very responsive to my questions and great at keeping me informed.

Although we were missing a couple parts that delayed our installation, Adolfo Campos was very helpful in getting the issues resolved and communicating each step.
Hoping this review of our two Pergolux pergolas helps anyone on the fence because it is weirdly hard to find real-world reviews for this brand.
My guess is it’s because they’re still relatively new. They’re Norwegian-founded, manufactured primarily in Germany, and ship globally. We’re in California.
Here’s where I think Pergolux actually makes sense:
People who want a custom-built louvered pergola like StruXure or Equinox—BUT—do NOT want to spend that kind of money
That was us. We got a quote for a fully custom system and it came in close to $200k just for the pergola, which basically wiped out our entire backyard budget.
So we pivoted.
We ended up doing two house-mounted Pergolux units:
- One 13x19 mounted to the eaves/roofline
- One 13x13 wall-mounted about 8 feet away
- We split the space with pavers leading to our slider
We hired ETI to install, so this was not DIY. All-in we landed around $27k–$30k.
And honestly, it delivered most of what we wanted for a fraction of the cost.
So when people say “who is Pergolux even for?” — that’s the answer. It’s the middle ground.
Now for the real talk.
The hardware? I actually believe in it. It feels solid, looks great, and does what it’s supposed to do.
The software and controls? Not great.
- The remote is sleek, but the UX is confusing
- It’s basically 4 arrows and you have to memorize how to use them
- You toggle through numbers 1–6, which map to different pergolas and functions
- It works, but it’s not intuitive in any way, shape, or form
The mobile app is slightly better, but still frustrating (iPhone):
- Every time you open it, it has to reconnect to each pergola
- It’s slow
- It disconnects frequently, even if the app is left open
- You end up waiting every time you want to adjust anything. Like, anything at all.
One of the big selling points for us was the alleged Alexa integration.
Here’s the catch no one tells you:
- Each pergola has a control box (this part we know!)
- During install, it gets hidden inside the aluminum beam
- BUT, you need physical access to it to pair devices
We currently have no idea where ours are or how to access them without taking things apart, so Alexa is basically a no-go for now and that’s gut wrenching TBH.
One more thing I wish someone had spelled out more clearly, especially if you’re doing anything custom with HEIGHT.
Our setup is a little unique. Both pergolas were raised about 16 inches by installing them on block pedestals that we later boxed in to look like columns.
- Visually, it looks great
- Functionally, it changes things more than you’d expect
We knew going in that any screens wouldn’t reach the ground, so the ~16 inch gap at the bottom was expected.
What we did NOT realize: The screens are manual!
At the time we purchased, the product description just said “retractable.” It did not clearly say manual vs motorized (this may changed after our formal complaint.) We assumed, especially since everything else IS motorized and app-controlled, that the screens would be too.
They are not.
- You have to physically pull them down
- They’re under strong spring tension
- You have to pinch/squeeze the mechanism to release and set them at the pre-determined locking positions
Because our pergolas are raised juuuust enough beyond ‘outstretched arm height’, the fully retracted screens sit higher than normal, which means:
- We cannot reach them; not even husband at 6’3”
- Our dream patio now requires an accessible step stool each time the sun changes position (1st world problems, we get it)
This was never flagged during quoting or install. Not blaming the installers, this is more on product clarity and sales communication.
It honestly never crossed our minds that something in this system would be manual.
We escalated it afterward and did get some money back, but nowhere near what it should have been.
So just a heads up:
- “Retractable” does NOT mean motorized
- If you’re modifying height at all, think through reach and access
- Ask very explicitly how every component is operated
All that said, we still feel like we made the right decision!
Given our budget, the alternatives, and what we wanted visually and functionally, it hits the mark.
My takeaway:
- Focus on the hardware first
- Accept that the software is a bit clunky right now
- Software can improve over time (hopefully sooner than later)
- Hardware is what you’re stuck with for the long haul
If you go in with that mindset, you’ll probably be happy with it!

PS: If you’re considering either wall mounting or roof mounting and can find it in your budget to include the install via ETI, I hiiiighly recommend it! They were fabulous and have all the materials accessible in the off chance a modification might be needed. They truly went above and beyond.
Natalie was awesome! She responded promptly to all our requests and provided detailed answers to all questions. This including responding to our emails over the weekend. Her customer service and communication was incredible!
The Pergolux pergola is very well made. Opted to have contractor install. Took 3 men most of one day. Everything worked except no remote control of LED lights. I contacted Pregolux customer service. After several attempts to rectify the problem they agreed to replace the control box. Natalie was very helpful in tracking the control box shipment. The new control box worked first time after installation. It was tricky to install control box cover piece with all the louvers already in place but with some effort I managed to get the cover over the control box. Overall I am pleased with the quality and appearance of the Sun dream 2 pergola from Pergolux.
If you're installing it yourself, plan on doubling the time required (10 hours). If you were doing a 2nd install with your insights gained from the 1st, you could probably do it in 5-hours. LPT: Since the piston arm lever (metal bracket sticking up in the middle) in the center hinders louver installation, use the same method the manual and videos outline for the last 3 louvers. Namely, slide the 3 or 4 middle louvers forward before slotting them so you can get the louver closest to the piston arm lever in place.
Avit was quick to follow up and get my questions answered in a very timely manner. Thanks!!!
Avit was wonderful and went out of her way for me.
I truly thank her and her team!!
The ordering process was very easy. The person on the phone was friendly and very knowledgeable. We put together a good deal and now I am waiting for delivery.
So far I have purchased a pergola and it was shipped to a storage location for 1 month. it should ship. around 3/23. I have it scheduled to be put up as soon as good weather is here.
We were able to buy a good product at a great price. Talpamarkt handled everything quickly and proved to be reliable.
Isaiah C saved my Pergolux experience
He was brilliant in customer service and resolved a frustrating delay. Can't speak highly enough about Isaiah! Pergolux is lucky to have him!
Can't wait to receive and assemble our order!
I ordered the 13'x16' Sundream 2. Product arrived on the pre arranged delivery day. First the positives. This thing is a beauty, very well built, and the price point for what you get is very attractive compared to competitors. All parts, screws, clips were complete. I'm getting loads of compliments from neighbors, family and friends. There are a few negatives, but they are happily minor. The instructions/ Manual are very limited in detail, but watching YouTube videos, downloading the online manual and confirming part placement made it easier to assemble. Yes it takes more than 6 hours to assemble, and we had 3 people working. It took us 9 hours over the course of 2 days, mainly because heavy rain stopped us 3/4 of the way. If not for the rain 6-7 hours would have been met. Some plastic parts needed to be installed with some force to seat properly. No base plate to cover anchoring bolts. Overall, considering those minor issues, I rate it 5 stars for quality, esthetics and relative ease of installation. When my 15 year old gazebo finally bites the dust, I will be purchasing another pergolux pergola.
Avit Vazquez provided excellent support and arranged my Pergolux delivery the way I wanted. Thanks Avit .
Sincerely,
Syed Ahmed
The installation model needs to have metric system units and more actual text instructions
