Extremely Disappointed — I Would Never Recommend Penguin Book Publishing
Working with Penguin Book Publishing has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I’ve ever had. I was promised a smooth, professional process that would take 1–3 weeks — instead, it took over 3 months.
During that time, they changed and misformatted parts of my manuscript, introducing errors that were not in the original version. My project manager even sent me another author’s manuscript by mistake — an incredibly unprofessional and unethical breach of confidentiality.
When my book was finally published, it still contained errors I had previously corrected, and I was upsold into a more expensive package with promises that were never fulfilled. I was told I would receive:
A professional website (never delivered)
A media interview and outreach to bookstores (never happened)
Professionally managed social media promotions (instead, they made a generic Facebook account with my name formatted incorrectly and low-quality Canva posts anyone could create for free)
To make matters worse, when I asked for the error in my name to be corrected, I was charged $50 for the revision, with a promise of a refund that I still haven’t received four months later despite weekly follow-ups.
My book may technically be “published,” but it’s not searchable on major retailers unless you type my full name and the complete title — making it practically invisible. I’ve been emailing for over six months and continue to receive empty promises, delays, or no responses at all.
I spent over $3,000 with this company and have nothing to show for it but wasted time, stress, and disappointment. This has been an unprofessional, dishonest, and exhausting process from start to finish. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for publishing support.
