Was with PayPal for 23 years

Was with PayPal for 23 years. I had a dispute with a scam company that promised a refund if not completely satisfied. Therawolfe. Their crap was worthless. I asked for a refund. Therawolfe gave me a runaround, then PayPal sided with them. Go to hell PayPal!!!

Paypal disputes are a sad joke

I recently filed a dispute regarding services I paid for but failed to receive. After providing detailed information regarding the transaction via both phone and the Paypal site I was informed an extensive investigation would would be initiated and I would be advised of a decision NLT June 25, 2026. After checking on 6/25/26 expecting to see the decision I was informed by Paypal they were not finished with the investigation. Yesterday 7/1/26 I was notified Paypal sided with the company I paid over $400.00 to and received nothing.

I attempted to reopen the dispute however Paypal informed me they could not pursue my dispute as it was deemed a 'credit transaction'! Confusing? Indeed! Paypal investigates nothing and is staffed by people who are very hard to understand. I will be filing a complaint with the state AG who regulates the company I wasted my money on paying for nothing. As for Paypal I will be closing this account.

If I could give a lower review I would

If I could give a lower review I would. The absolute worst customer service. And dont even bother making transactions with goods and services where they offer to protect your purchase. I received broken purchases and was stiff armed by the seller and paypal several times. Save yourself the headache and forget paypal even exists.

Tried to transfer EUR to a EUR account…

Tried to transfer EUR to a EUR account in Switzerland. Impossible as Paypal transfer only in the currency of the destination country. They make the change into CHF automatically based on their exchange rate which is some percent away from the market. So not only I have fees for the initial transaction which is ok, I also get charged via the automatic exchange. Both help center bot, nor David (an actual person) helped. In fact after complaining David closed the communication on me. Inacceptable.

Absolutely atrocious app

Absolutely atrocious app. It makes you circle around repeating the same information over and over again, and in the end, it doesn't deliver the promised. Valid card gets rejected. Avoid at all costs.

I am really disappointed by Paypal

I am really disappointed by Paypal. i have been using them for years. I had a very open and shut dispute over what was a fake product/deep AI scam. They jerked me around for about three weeks, i uploaded lots of documents, pictures. Could never talk to anyone on the phone, only online chat with someone who assured me she was human, but i doubt it still. Then they told me i won my dispute, but the money did not go back on my
card. When i called to ask why, i got another long online chat followed the next day by an email saying i had lost the dispute because i hadn't sent them the info they requested. It was twelve documents altogether.
Totally worthless. if you have a dispute on something you bought through Paypal, go through your bank.

Sending checks in the mail???

I have been using PayPal (PP)for 20 years, and I have never had any complaints until yesterday. I have used the PP credit card with their "6 month same as cash" feature, which has worked well for me. I made a purchase with the credit card a couple of months ago, and I needed to return some product for a refund, which was sent to my PP acct. My PP acct had a credit of about $800, so I contacted PP to get that credit sent over to my bank acct that I have connected to my PP acct. Here it is, 2026, and I was told that they cannot forward my credit to my bank acct, that I have to wait for them to send it via check in the snail mail, and risk losing it in the mail. Hey PP, modernize your processes and get into the 21st century!! Will be looking for another CC to go to.

PayPal is a company run by cheats

PayPal is a company run by cheats, just because I'm in default of a few euros, they contact a law firm to sue me and have 5% charge on the principal amount by each day that passes. You're cowards and thieves.

Very disappointing experience with PayPal.

After more than six years of using PayPal, I recently faced a serious issue with multiple incoming business payments being placed under review. I was told the review would normally be completed within a specific time frame, but after waiting, the payments were still pending and support could not provide any clear resolution date.

The worst part is the lack of transparency. The funds were not released, no clear reason was provided, no specific documents were requested, and I was not given a proper option to cancel or return the payments. This left my business and client in a very difficult position.

Customer support was polite, but they were unable to solve the problem or give a meaningful update. For a business, this level of uncertainty around payments is unacceptable.

I use other payment platforms and have never experienced this kind of delay, confusion, and lack of control over business funds. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend PayPal for business payments where reliability, transparency, and cash flow matter.

Paypal service has declined and does not care about customer service

I have used Paypal for many years and have always believed them to be a safe way to pay for goods and give me some protection. Not any more :(
They no longer protect the buyer and just take the side of the scammer/seller whilst pretending to go through the dispsute/claim process.
They are difficult to contact, they don't accept you have a valid issue and hide behind AI/auto-responses before simply refusing your dispute and failing to refund. I paid for goods in good faith which never arrived; seller claimed they had been delivered but could not provide actual proof of delivery; Paypal sided with seller as "item was delivered". I am now trying to get my money back via chargeback with my bank. Paypal are charlatans and crooks - don't believe their 100% guarantee, its not worth a single penny and they certainly do not give a toss about their customers. Paypal always used to be my preferred method of payment - not any more

I authorised a payment of £1.99, then had more stolen. PayPal won't do anything

I authorised a payment of £1.99, the company then set up regular payments of £31.99 on my PayPal account without my authorisation. I reported the transaction and basically PayPal have said because I authorised the £1.99 they won't do anything about the fact I have had more stolen. It has been reported to the bank as fraud, they are being more helpful then PayPal. I won't be using PayPal anymore and will be shutting my account down.
They do nothing when scammers steal off you.

Seller protection failed!!!

I have been a PayPal customer for years, but this experience completely destroyed my confidence in PayPal's Seller Protection.

I sold an iPhone worth over $1,250. The buyer initiated a return, but instead of returning the phone, I received a thin envelope containing only folded blank paper. I submitted extensive evidence, including photographs, video of the package being opened, shipping label comparisons, the buyer's own photos showing the phone was originally delivered in a box, and documentation showing the return envelope was physically incapable of containing the iPhone that was sold.

Despite all of this, PayPal ruled in the buyer's favor based on the fact that a tracking number showed "something" was delivered to my address. Delivery confirmation is not proof that the merchandise was actually returned.

What concerns me most is that there is no indication my evidence was meaningfully evaluated. If a seller can provide clear documentation that an empty envelope was returned instead of the purchased item and still lose, then Seller Protection offers very little real protection. To make matters worse, PayPal also charged me a $15 dispute fee after I lost over $1,250.

Trust is PayPal's business model, yet this experience showed me that when a return fraud case becomes more complex than a tracking number, sellers may be left carrying the entire loss.

I will be moving my business elsewhere and sharing this experience with other online sellers so they understand the risks before relying on PayPal's Seller Protection. If PayPal cannot distinguish between "a package was delivered" and "the merchandise was actually returned," then its Seller Protection fails when sellers need it most.
