Review of paypal
Paypal is definately a bad place to do business, I got sent money as a loan and then the sender charged back later so i had to pay double. Beware paypal, braindead scammers. Will only end badly.
Double Charging and Useless Support
Consistently double charges my account for clearly singular purchases. Sometimes they forcibly overdraft my account and provide no explanation. Even after calling and waiting through 3 layers of caller menus, they claim it's not visible on their end and it's a bank-related issue even though this has occurred with multiple bank accounts. Just buy off reputable sites with your card directly or use Apple or Google Pay. Paypal is literally a practically useless middleman providing a false sense of security.
WORST WORST WORST
WORST WORST WORST
1st they asked about my personal info then after giving them all info about me. After I received payment from my client they banned my account saying that there is a potential risk involved like WTH. I even gave them my work history and client's chat and invoice but NO.
If there is a risk then why do they ask about what type of business I do? I give voice-overs to my clients which is LEGAL in a whole manner, I even gave them a few of my audio files that were part of the project to show my legitimacy.
They made 180 Day restriction on my money. I worked hard for that and now I can't get it just because of their fancy policy.
PHATETIC SERVICE PAYPAL
business account Close without Reason
PayPal closed my business account without any reason. I called them and raised a complaint and Mr. Alberto Rodrigo ( escalation officer ) was not able to provide a reason. His response is

There is no customer security and working with Paypal is a risk after having the worst experience with them.

Paypal loudly spruce how they offer buyer protection. The only time I needed their help they badly let me down. After many years of using the service I've closed my account. Be aware of the claim they
The claim to provide buyer protection in my view is completely false.

PayPal are not contactable.Filing a complaint is canceled after so many days with no way their system registers the complaint hasn’t been fixed. There is No one to talk to just automated responses.Shopendive a company that allows you to pay with paypal are not reputable or real or registered. I’m $439.99 out and no one is contactable or interested. Don’t purchase anything MIFO.
Don't return goods for a refund if asked
Like many other reviewers I purchased goods owrth $US77 from a HK company that either didn't arrive, or were incorrect and inferior quality. Raised a case and Paypal indicated they'd refund if the goods were returned. I did so at a cost of $45 and on receipt they refused the claim. I will escalate to an Aus consumer protection agency but don't hold out much hope. I was surprised to see that a reviewer had actually been able to speak to someone. The claims process is designed so there is no recourse for consumers.
Paypal is no one's pal
Having read a number of negative reviews here, I would like to share my recent experience in brief. Paypal froze $14000 of my funds after the sale of a car on Gumtree. I quickly learned that the quickest way to get a problem like this solved is to go to AFCA. Australian Financial Complaints Authority. After a 5 week freeze, my funds were unfrozen and I closed my account.

The PayPal x 4 payment option is a poor cousin to Afterpay. Although they cancel upon notice that the item if not available, they then hold on to first payment & it's near impossible to get any sense out of the staff when you do finally get to communicate with someone! Would not use PayPal as a payment scheme again. Afterpay has any payments made back in your bank account usually on same day. PayPal four days later & waiting....
Customer service is terrible
Customer service is terrible. Call was answered fairly quickly (so that's a plus) but the young man I spoke to had an accent which made it difficult to understand him and then he seemed to have little knowledge about how Paypal Pay in 4 works. My payment was declined because my bank has stopped my card due to unauthorised activity and are sending me a new card but it is taking too long so I contacted Paypal to see what could be done. Noting it seems. Left me feeling very dissatisfied with level of professionalism.
NO HUMAN COMMUNICATION
NO HUMAN COMMUNICATION. EACH TEXT MESSAGE HAS A NEW PERSON WHO REFUSES OR IS UNABLE TO LOOK UP PREVIOUS TEXT MESSAGES YOU CONSTANTLY HAVE TO RETYPE UNTIL YOU ARE TIRED AND GIVE UP ******NEVER USE IT
From heroes to zeroes
From heroes to zeroes. I would say 1 star is much operated. I had to replace my CC card and advised PayPal.I tried to link my bank account temporarily to avoid a pay in 4 payment.Their system which is more like a cistern rejected the link despite me having the account for 22 years in in the largest bank in Australia. Communication was excruciatingly slow and totally unhelpful. They did say they would ensure that the payment would be honoured. LOL. Obviously they needed to maintain there totally useless star rating.
PAYPAL assisting scammers and crooks
Recently I received a refund from a scam website called playerup and forumflip only to have Paypal take the money they owed me for services and goods not received them and then give it back to the crocks simply because they asked for and said they didnt get the service they paid for. It was me that didnt get what I paid for and then lost the money that took me 2 months of pain to get back
NO HELP FROM PAYPAL
I received yet another faulty AliExpress item. AliExpress would not help me, so I asked PayPal to assist.
The cost to return the item is considerably greater than its value, so PayPal's solution of returning the item, at my expense, is irrelevant and pointless.
By applying this solution PayPal are simply confirming that I have lost all of my money on a faulty product and that neither PayPal nor AliExpress is prepared to assist me.
This situation has occurred because I refused to be blackmailed into providing the seller with a five star rating BEFORE they gave me a refund.
Clearly the seller has benefitted from supplying me with a faulty product and this corrupt system remains unaltered.
The last straw is the way the PayPal system finally demands a tracking number and transport company name which, because of the cost of the return shipping, I OBVIOUSLY cannot supply, and this prevents me from continuing to communicate with them on this issue.
They say “We are here to help”.
BULLPOO !
PayPal might be useful to avoid using credit cards directly on the net, but when things go wrong and you need some practical help, DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH.
A separate free debit card with a low balance may be a good alternative.
I approached Paypal about a refund from seller - they won't help
I approached Paypal about a refund from a seller for a faulty product which had been returned to the seller. Paypal knocked back the claim as it stated I had not provided a "receipt." I then provided proof of purchase, proof of return, proof of receipt of return, proof of seller acknowledging that a refund was due. Again, Paypal closed the claim stating that I had not provided the "information requested." At no time did they clarify what further information was required. I managed to ring Paypal and speak to an agent who looked through all that I had provided and she stated quite clearly that I had provided the evidence. The agent then stated they would re-open the case; which happened. Someone at Paypal then again closed it again with no advice. So; in summary - Paypal despite being provided the evidence requested (or not clarifying why it was not adequate) have failed to support a buyer when they claim that they will do so. Because of the repeated attempts to lodge this and Paypal's terrible communication and inconsistency I have closed my account with them. I trust my bank more.
I like using PayPal
I like using PayPal. I find it easy and safe. The customer service is pretty helpful and have never had any major problems. I have 2 payment methods saved so if there are any issues with my preferred payment option, they will use the other one. I have been using them for years and ended up helping my mother set up her account and despite not being very tech savvy, she has also had no problems using it. So that is a pleasant bonus.
Paypal doesn't offer a choice for…
Paypal doesn't offer a choice for members for which is the backup method we want to nominate if the first payment method we tick can't go through. They just said that by their agreement the users agree to allow Paypal to RANDOMLY pick a backup payment method.
But Paypal as a payment company doesn't seem to honour the most basic aspect of buy and sell. If someone wants to buy anything at physical stores or online, if anything the first payment method can't go through, the fairest ways to handle it is to ASK the customer whether there is another other payment ways the individual PREFERS to use as an alternative or the individual prefers not to go ahead with the transaction. No sensible person will expect the shop or any other third party to go grabbing the customer's wallet and randomly pick a 'default' alternative payment to force through the transactions. It does not make commercial and legal sense.
However, the executive escalation team of Paypal does not understand the basic CRITICAL elements of a commercial transaction to honour and respect the rights of the buyers. They only provide red tape answers as 'these and those are in our agreement'.
The person who handled my complaint showed that Paypal is just another typical arrogant company that refuses to listen to customers' feedbacks, to improve and to be fair and reasonable.
After going back and for, the other side threw me a VERY RUDE corporate arrogant reply: we will not respond further to whatever I said before. You can continue to leave feedback but WE WILL NOT respond further.
Is this a kind of RESPONSIBLE business?
Paypal is a payment option company but they don't understand what are the basic elements of ANY transaction. If the payment option can't go through at Paypal's end, at the most is the buyer's purchase orders will be cancelled because of insufficient funds or whatever reasons the cards chosen by the buyers prevent Paypal to get the money. Better is Paypal allows buyers to choose what are our HUMAN RIGHTS for an alternative payment method if anything goes wrong.
The definition of dire
I'm setting up online business. Set up initially with Stripe as my payment gateway - absolutely awesome! 5 stars! Wanted to start taking payments via paypal so attempted to set up a business account. This was immediately limited on set up. Fair enough I can live without this mess, but I can't close the account because it's limited. Complete garbage - avoid.
Beware of paypal!!!I have used Paypal for many many years
I have used Paypal for many many years, but of late I have had 2 payments made to companies I am not dealing with and they have ignored my requests to refund. I recently purchased a massage chair from crazy sales and it was extremely dangerous and I asked could they send a service person to look at it. they refused and it appears that Paypal were in collaboration as they did not enforce my request and actually closed my complaint without the seller having to oblige in any way. It is so disappointing but of course I have now closed my account with them otherwise more money could go out of my account without my knowledge.
2 companies, 1 has PayPal, I use
I use PayPal for as many things I purchase online, I will pick a company over another company if I can use PayPal.
It has a guarantee and I don't have to give my credit card details for a purchase I just push PayPal.
