I paid with PayPal but was charged Twice

I paid with PayPal but was charged twice by Sony Australia/PlayStation for in game credit purchase. This only happened because of a glitch in Sony's system. Sony doesn't care so they wouldn't refund because it was a digital purchase.
So, I contacted PayPal resolution center & gave them this same information. They said OK and opened a case.
The next day I get an email from PayPal saying case was closed in favor of Sony because the product I purchased from Sony was not misrepresented.
I never said anything to PayPal about the purchase being misrepresented. Now PayPal won't do anything more to resolve the double dipping by Sony/PlayStation.
I decided that if I have no backup then there is no point using PayPal as a purchase insurance option.
So then I tried to close my PayPal account. But I cannot do that either because PayPal keeps saying that I have to resolve my Account Limitations first.
But there are no account limitations. There are no funds owing, there are no automatic payments listed & bank account details have been closed & removed. But PayPal still will not allow me to close my account.
So what are the account limitations they keep referring to? It's just more PayPal BS to keep you signed up I'm sure.
In my opinion PayPal no longer cares about buyers because they go out of their way to make contact with them as difficult as they can. The actual important links that you need are not supplied & some of the ones that are there don't work so you end up going round & round in circles.
In my opinion it has been setup this way on purpose to keep you in the dark and to also keep you in a never ending loop.
I have also noticed that PayPal do not respond to any reviews which is a dead giveaway that they couldn't give a Dam about buyers anymore

Stay away!!! Taking side of scammers

PayPal is supporting a bunch of scammers. It’s been over a month since I’ve been waiting for a refund from a scamming app called effecto. PayPal keeps closing the dispute a few times because they only consider the scammer’s side. Shame on this.

Suggest ZIP or After Pay, more realistic option.

No Buyer protection

I had a vendor(Relatio) charge me after I cancelled the membership. There was no notification about upcoming payments. No notification that my membership was somehow reenabled. Paypal has their own policy that a vendor is supposed to notify you about upcoming charges within 10 days of the charge. I didn't get any notifications. When I challenged the transaction, paypal said that they have reviewed the case and chose the side of the vendor. Not sure why they bother pretending to have buyer protection, might as well just use your credit card and bypass them. Paypal provides no added value.

Undelivered package saga

I contacted PayPal after my package wasn't delivered even though the tracking said it had been. PayPal told me to contact the seller, but they ignored me. PayPal then told me to contact the courier company who ignored me. PayPal said they had proof of delivery and that it had been delivered to my front door. I asked for the proof and was sent a photo of what may have been my package, on the grass out near the rd 80 metres from my house. When I disputed that the package had not been delivered properly or safely to my address, I was told the case was closed as it had been delivered. I never found the package. PayPal has refused my refund request.

I ordered an item and paid through PayPal, I got the run-around from the site where I ordered the item, and I asked PayPal for a refund, I did ask the site for a refund first and never got anywhere with them, and PayPal were just the same, I ordered the item on the 10th of October and both the site where I ordered the item from and PayPal have a 5 day review period and both did nothing.
I will close my PayPal account, as they can't be trusted to do the right thing.
The item is on it's way, but it took 2 months and I don't know if it is the item I ordered, but I won't ask PayPal for help.

Purchased KetoGo.app

Purchased KetoGo.app. The company then took out for extra services which we did not authorise. Contacted PayPal and they said they could not do anything as the charge was still pending and I had to wait till it went through. When it went through they sided with the scam company. Buyer protection is non existent with this company.

Pay Pal supports thieves

I purchased a tai chi program and without authorisation they added two more program that pay pal paid. I contacted pay pal immediately and they checked one of the payments out and said on the basis of my purchase it was not considered unauthorised. I that was the very first time I purchased a program like that and rarely use pay pal. I will claim through my bank now.

PayPal gives no buyer protection

I bought a product from a website which was supposed to be a door mat and I received basically a bath mat. None of the material descriptions matched nor did the sellers claims and photos. I spent $75. Despite all the evidence that I have sent through and links to trust pilot detailing similar complaints against the seller I purchased from PayPal response was that the item was not significantly other than described and they closed the case. Sure PayPal a door mat and a bath mat are the same thing and two bath mats are totally worth $75..........
Don't count on PayPal for buyers protection. It does not exist.

Just wanted to say PayPal is the worst…

Just wanted to say PayPal is the worst money transfer site I have ever used. After a good history, no, excellent history with them, where they even forced a refund when I bought pirate software accidentally from a Chinese web site, 2 days ago they totally crapped themselves. 15+ Years and they suddenly suspended my account. Every time I tried to get an explanation, read our T & C's. I spoke to a call account in Manila, will try to file reinstatement, no result. I contacted APRA regulatory authority in Australia, they gave me an email address not on PayPal website, result, yes, read our T & C's. The arbitrary refusal to explain has caused so much stress I cant describe. Go to Wise, or WorlRemit

Unbelievable poor service

Unbelievable poor service, hand your money to scammers then protect the scammers. Paypal used to protect you from a bad deal when someone sent you a housebrick on ebay instead of a video card, clearly those days are gone.

I tried to buy an xbox live account from a "genuine site" , however turns out that the seller is buying acocunts with stolen credit cards then emails you and requires you provide them YOUR credit card "to enable the account", of course I did not go through with this at this point and contacted paypal.

Paypal ruled as they'd sent me the "activation email" (instructions to follow that would get me super ripped off) , they've "provided the goods". (They have not, I didn't even click the link to start that provision process).

So Paypal refused my claim back three ways til sunday and I'm $121 out of pocket.

I've had to fill in a stat dec with the bank, at least their staff listened, understood the scam and agreed with me. This has been made harder as paypal took the money direct from my bank instead of the "preferred payment method" which was the credit card - so I've lost my own money, not just a credit inconvenience.

Poor show,. and zero benefit in using paypal except for hiding my CC details., it made claiming back impossible

My Paypal account was defrauded three times…

My Paypal account was defrauded twice in July, each time a large amount was extracted from my linked bank account, despite the fact that I didn't have anything like the amount in question in the Paypal account itself. These frauds were reversed by my bank. Paypal gave me no information about how this happened. Then at the end of July a fraudulent payment of the balance of my account was made to 'Nikitin Yaroslav - at a 'yandex' address" (It seems Yandex.ru is a dodgy Russian cover). After two 'appeals' I was just informed that the 'back office' is upholding this fraudulent withdrawal. The phone 'assistance' person was just reading from a script - so sorry, sir, nothing can be done, no third party access' (etc etc) Laughably, they were telling me they could email Nikitin and ask for the money back. I couldn't believe it. And I see that I retain the option to 'Repeat the Transaction'. Unbelievable! I've had enough. Paypal has stolen 250 Euros from me, and their telephone person is essentially calling me a liar when I claim that I made no such payment to this person. I'm closing down the account and moving over to Stripe. This company has no credibility with me and I can't trust them.

Paypal supports scammers !

Paypal supports scammers !

I saw another review that supports my experience.
"A company destroying their own brand!
This company built a fortune on being a trusted third party payment platform that offered free buyer protection. "
This can no longer be considered the truth.

You'll find that Paypal supports and encourages scammers.
You can attempt to go through their Resolution Centre to reclaim stolen $. But don't expect any ethical support.

Scammers have become more professional in appearance. They're tactics still prove otherwise.
Its too late when you end up in an website that does not allow for access to or change to trial or membership details. Definitely dodgey when they do not allow you to amend or remove payment options through their tool/website. Paypal does not consider this.
As long as the scammers provide minimal "proof", they will uphold the charge. Regardless of how ridiculous the value or questionable the pattern of their deductions.

It is sad what PayPal has become.
Further proof is their CEO recently announcing through a recorded message he would allow AI to replace thousands of jobs. Adding to the cost of living crisis all of us non-billionaires are going through. Normal people who could easily be customers themselves.
No more.

Beware of Dispute / Resolution scam

After 2 months of not recwiving my refund [for goods returned under CRA/DSR] from Garden Sanctuary paid via paypal, I decided ti raise a dispute.

Oh boy. Is this NOT easy.
Having worked in I.T. and used online shopping for years, I was amazed at their "resoltion" setup. But I finally managed to raise a "dispute?",

The first part was to contact the seller - no chance as already refusing to reply directly.
But I completed the form including message to seller.
Then the "year 2000" hit the fan.
Every time I checked on the status, the date by which the seller had to response went from 23/07/25 -- >> 01/01/26.

So I clicked on the "need help" and was forced to write another message to the seller [who of course had ignored the previous].

Two days later I get email telling me
"Case[dispute] closed in favour of the seller"
who of course had not responded.
Now the case is closed I can no longer claim my money back through paypal.
Whose motto is "We’ve got your back.
Protecting you from checkout to delivery.
".
I guess I am now forced to go through small claims court for the money.
Meanwhile paypal are laughing all the way to the bank as I have paid them fully "pin3"

I have totally lost confidence in paypal but like many are stuck as deep in debt with them.

Why do paypal think the are above responding to TrustPilot.
Shows they don't give a monkey's rats arse about the buyers - we got your money TUFF

When I try to log out of PayPal

When I try to log out of PayPal, I'm asked to verify I'm not a robot by completing a recaptcha. This is fine for the first time but then it loops around and asks again, and again, and again. It happen 10 times in a row, so I gave up and just quit the web site. It's making PayPal almost impossible to deal with.

Extremely disappointed in PayPal’s…

Extremely disappointed in PayPal’s handling of fraud and unauthorised transactions.

A charge for $129 was taken from my account for a purchase from D Smith — something I never authorised, never ordered, and never received. I expected PayPal to help resolve it, but instead I was met with useless automated phone systems and a chatbot that led nowhere.

No way to speak to a real person. No escalation. No meaningful support. Just dead ends.

I reported it multiple times, and still nothing has been done. It feels like PayPal is completely hands-off when it comes to helping its users recover their money in these situations — which defeats the whole point of using them as a “secure” payment platform.

Because of this experience, I’ll be deleting my PayPal account entirely. I no longer trust the platform to protect my money.
