Lauren who helped me and spoke to me was very helpful
Genuine review; I used Payments Pro ("PP" hereafter in this review), from 11th July 2025 until March 4th 2026. They were a great umbrella company for me & whilst errors occasionally happened (not always / necessarily from PP, I hasten to add), it's how they deal with that, that's important. I was always able to pick up the phone & almost immediately, be speaking to someone in PP who knew me, my PAYE status & was then able get to the root cause PDQ.
The SMS (text message) service they utilise (advising of hours & expenses in advance of payment ((that are received from the client / agency)) that's due for imminent payment) was great too & helped head-off several potential absent-payments (where typically, there was an issue client / agency-side) & I was of course, typically still paid on time. I'd only say that on that, very occasionally, no message was sent - but this was rare.
I was billing my client weekly & so I enjoyed being paid weekly too, which PP facilitated (for me, this was an important part of their USP), which bear in mind, is a risk on their part as PP are paying the employee before they're paid by the client / agency.
I also thought they were competitively priced as well, when compared with their competition.
For transparency; I did have an issue with the pension auto-enrolment deduction which took place almost immediately, rather than at the typical 3m period; after investigation, this was determined to be because under pressure from the agency / end-client to be onboarded (at role inception) quickly, I registered & was set-up with PP immediately. This meant that for them, the 3m clock started ticking - even though my start date was some 2m after that (and was not being aid by them for those months). It was all resolved & as I say, I only mention this for transparency. For this reason, I debated leaving 4 rather than 5 stars for this but I genuinely think the 5 stars is merited / justified because again, they got it sorted efficiently.
I'd willingly use Payments Pro again in my next engagement, assuming the agency / end-client has them on their list - as I now seek my next engagement (I think employee's paying for the service ought to be able to have the preference & not the agency but I guess there's no legislation in place to make this so - so hey-ho).
By the way, I should also say; the staff were ALWAYS polite, friendly and importantly, very helpful - especially Kristy.
