Be aware PaulCamper won't act to assure…

Be aware PaulCamper won't act to assure a good experience as other similar platforms. If there is a misunderstanding, they will not act to help solving the issue. I should have check this page before booking, as many people had similar experience.

This is what happened to me: there was a clear misunderstanding between me and the lender. He told me they were planning to sell the camper, but after negotiating the price I decided it was still a good deal (my first mistake). We never spoke explicitly about the deposit, although he says we did. I believe I'm saying the truth, he believes he is the one saying the truth. But to be honest, what kind of deal is that? You are keeping the deposit for what? No one would rent a camper if there is a risk it won't be available, unless it's for a good price but but this does not affect the usual arrangement about deposit. Anyway, I hoped PaulCamper would have some policy to solve this. Wrong! Their answer is: you guys need to solve it. After a "nice" interaction with the lender, we both agree to split the cost.

Personally I won't attempt to use this platform anymore. It's too risky for me as I'm not usually on details and don't pay attention to have everything documents. If you feel the same, I would recommend you to look for another platform with a real customer support.

Hello Lucho,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
We have shown commitment and mediated between you and dealt intensively with your case. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, we could not find an agreement for you.
Please note that cancellation is never free of charge and that your case was about cancellation fees and not about the deposit.
The deposit is to be paid to the owner directly.
In your case, there were misunderstandings and discrepancies.
You both have made verbal agreements that are completely far from our rules and the terms and conditions, so we have no way to give you a solution.
Agreements are best kept in writing, especially if they are in contrast to our terms and conditions.
We are not a part of your contract and are completely governed by your agreements and goodwill arrangements.
Your Owner has waived his share and has graciously refunded you his balance.
We are sorry that despite our efforts and mediation attempts, a satisfactory solution has not been found for you.
We wish you all the best!
Your Quality Assurance Team

Paul Camper has an insane cancellation policy

Paul Camper has an insane cancellation policy (which I feel, break some consumer protection laws). I made a booking 1 and a half months in advance, I then was forced to cancel because the owner of the van was asking for unnecessary information about myself which I was not willing to give. I cancelled my booking 3 days later and Paul Camper took 75% of my booking payment which was £300.
DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE SCAMMERS!

Hi Raef,
your booking was cancelled due to an issue between yourself and the owner which we successfully remedied on your behalf. During the time we were liaising with yourself and the owner you made alternative arrangements for a holiday with another provider. You therefore had two suitable bookings in place and chose to cancel ours. Having made every effort to make your holiday possible, we had to process your cancellation in line with our terms and conditions which you agreed to at the time of booking. We hope you acknowledge our position on this booking and are happy to discuss the matter further with you privately.

Kind regards, PaulCamper UK

IMPORTANT MESSAGE - never again!!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE! The worst service ever! Someone broke into the camper, and the window of the side door was smashed. It happend on a Saturday and we were in the south of Italy at the time. The insurance wouldn't help us right away, because the van could still "drive" (then they won't give you roadside assistance and no 24/7 availability) so we had to wait until Monday to get a call from them. PaulCamper REFUSED to help us on Monday and said we had to call the insurance ourselves. Which of course we'd already done, but they can't help us directly because WE DON'T GET AN INSURANCE NUMBER when we book the van. Only PaulCamper can inform or approve the damage at the insurance company before it can be fixed. But PC doesn't even know the agreements they have with the insurance company. I've spend 5,5 hours on the phone, non-stop, trying to get help. PaulCamper did NOTHING! The only thing they kept repeating was: "Call the insurance company, they will have to help you. We can't do anything else". Yes Paulcamper, you can do something about it. You can inform the insurance policy of our issue so they can pick it up and help us, which is the agreement you made with Allianz on how to handle cases. The service of PaulCamper's customer service is the worst I have ever seen. They don't care at all about helping you and don't feel any urgency to take care of the issue, even though they are the only ones qualified to inform the insurance company about it. We ended up making an appointment at Carglass ourselves (privately and without insurance covering), because no one wanted to help us out. We had to drive from the south to the north of Italy with a busted side door window, because no one wanted to help us out. It took 5 days to install an emergency window during which we couldn't leave the van alone because it was missing a window, because on one wanted to help. I'm writing this message as a warning to everyone expecting service from the insurance we paid for, forget it! If something happens on holiday PaulCamper is not there to help you in any way. They don't care. I will never never ever rent with PaulCamper again. (Must say the owners of the van were really nice and helpful, it's just PaulCamper that is the issue). All our stuff being stolen is sad, but the lack of help we received after this happened was definitely the worst thing of it all! Hope you're informed.

Brilliant experience

Brilliant experience, I tapped on the button first time and it looks like a negative review, so I have managed to rewrite it to reflect what a great adventure we had. Loved the van and Mike and his partner were wonderful. I would definitely recommend Paul Campervan to friends and family. Best wishes Ann and Chris

GREAT service so far. Just great!
I made a reservation for a camper (have not yet picked up the vehicle though). I had some problems during the booking process and so send a mail to paulcampers support. In my mail I asked a question, and also asked for a telphone number so I could call them up. Within a few minutes they rang me! Really cool...!!! I really like that they took the initiativ til contact me to offer help. I am very satiesfied. And the woman I spoke with - I believe Daniele - was VERY helpfull and nice to talk to.
So far I have only great experiences with paulcamper.de

Is this a scam?

I have to question the authenticity of this company, to rent a Campervan they expected me to pay a deposit, which I have absolutely no problem with at all, however they required the deposit in cash, £1500 in cash, really?? Do you really expect me to meet a stranger and give them cash and leave myself completely exposed? The correct procedure should be via a credit card so that both parties are absolutely protected, it leaves me to wondering what they owners of the website actually provide? Seriously flawed business model, please don't leave yourself exposed!!

Worst customer service EVER.

My boyfriend and I had the worst experience with Paul Camper, and we lost over 1000€.
We planned a three week vacation with a camper van through Germany. After browsing for a while, we went for a camper van from Katharina via Paul Camper.

However, the camper van we rented turned out to be not safe for the road (which we only found out after we got home and started packing the van). So we gave it back on the same day we picked it up.
Afterwards we contacted the customer service, asking how we can cancel the van. Instead of giving proper and solution-oriented service, we only received an email after days, saying that they are not able to cancel any bookings in their system. The owner of the van had to cancel it instead. However the owner didn't do anything and to this day (1 month after we gave back the van) she still hasnt done anything and has stopped replying to us.

We spent over 1000€ for nothing but problems. The problems are still going!!!

NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

Worst Support - Not friendly and non responsive

I just moved to Germany and booked a campervan for the next day in order to do a short trip in Germany during lockdown.

less than 12 hours after my booking the owner contacts me and says he will be late, and not be meet me at the agreed-upon time (Which I paid 50 EUR extra for that time because it was early) He also said that I need a car to tow that campervan which I didn't know. (Although I spoke to the owner a day before and he never mentioned that)

I tried to contact the support team and cancel my booking (Less than 12 hours from booking time) I tried to contact them by e-mail, chat and by phone but I didn't get any response.

When the response arrived they said, they said that it's "Too late already and we can't help you out." Without even trying to understand the issue and without explaining what went wrong.

Also, they still don't respond to the chat and they still don't pick up the phone.

I lost €280 due to its false advertising and scams

I lost €280 due to Paul's Camper false advertising and organised scams.
I booked a van in December 2019 from a lender with the badge COVID CANCELATION but due to German's regulations, I couldn't proceed to rent the van. I contacted customer service to inform them about this unfortunate situation, they told me they don't do refunds but issue a "CREDIT VOUCHER" for only €42 instead. They asked me to arrange the rest of the refund with the lender. I tried to contact them several times but they are not responding to my messages. The Covid cancelation is still there but it means absolutely nothing!!!!
Paul Camper use the covid cancellation badge to scam people with false advertising, to lead us to believe that the company was responsible for backing up a situation like a world pandemic but instead they saw an opportunity to carry on making money by lying to their customers, knowing they wouldn't refund any payments.
So don't be fooled and DO NOT MAKE ANY PAYMENTS with them. Scroll down for more reference, I'm not the only one who's been scammed by Paul Camper!!

No communication after only a 10% refund

We hired twice with Paulcamper from the same camper owner, who has been very helpful and responsive. The first rental was fine. Unfortunately, the Covid 19 pandemic meant that we had to cancel our second rental, for which we were told we'd get a 100% refund because of the circumstances. However, 2.5 months on, I've been refunded 10% and Paulcamper have stopped contacting me. At the start, they were quite responsive and tried several methods to get my refund back but now nothing. If they're having financial difficulty or similar, I'd appreciate at least a message saying so, and an expected timeline of when I might get a refund. We were relying on that refund for other things, so having reliable and honest communication would have been much appreciated.
