I recently spent a total of 4 months at Parker Geriatric, which is attached to Long Island Jewish Hospital after undergoing some major surgery. Avoid going there if possible. In my opinion, I think they operate at minimum standards to pass a medicare review. The food was terrible. It seemed to be something out of the box from a supermarket. They were big on chicken cooked various ways and with carrots which i think they cornered the market. I had a bed that sunk in the middle, which made it impossible to roll on your side. I asked for bed rails so that I could grab and roll over but they never came.
Now not everything was so bad. My pt instructor was great and the same for the ot trainer. The same goes for some of the aides. Some aides just seemed to do the minimum for you while others were terrific.
While I was there, i sent out a laundry bag of clothers that was to be returned between a week or two. Did you see my sweat pants? I didn't. the bag was lost and when i left, the social worker said they are still searching. I keep getting put off. I gave them a list of what was in the bag as best as i could remember and the cost of same. I got out September 23rd and still no results.
