I discovered paper thistle books earlier this year after my friends highly recommended them . The service you receive from them is absolutely fantastic , nothing is too much , it’s a truly personal service , you are not just anyone . You receive personalised notes in your packages and an out of the blue book package was sent to my partner because he had been unwell and as a fellow Scot he loved it . Highly recommended .

Paper Thistle is an independent online bookshop specialising in books set in Scotland or written by Scottish authors. A brilliant range, easy to use website and a personalised customer experience. The ‘blind date with a book’ is great value. Active on social media with incredible engagement and book events. A fantastic service!

What a beautiful company this is, customer service is the best I have had from anywhere I have ever shopped. their blind date with a book packages are stunning. And they have books I have never even heard of before. Highly recommend.

This is hands down one of the best independent bookshops I’ve come across. The personal touch they bring to everything they do makes such a difference. You never feel like just another order, there’s real care behind it, and it shows.

They’re also incredibly active on TikTok, which I love. It’s not just promotional content either, they genuinely engage with the book community, join in conversations, and make you feel part of something. It’s such a refreshing change from bigger retailers.

The regular book recommendations are always spot on, and I’ve discovered so many new reads through them that I wouldn’t have picked up otherwise. The website is just as fun to browse too, especially with the random book generator when you can’t decide, and the “blind date with a book” option is such a brilliant idea. It feels like opening a gift, and the thoughtful little bookish treats included make it even more special.

Their selection is fantastic, especially if you love Scottish authors or books set in Scotland. It’s clear they’ve curated their stock with real passion and intention.

If you’re looking for a bookshop that goes above and beyond, supports the reading community, and makes buying books feel exciting again, this is it. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars.

I ordered three books that I had on my wishlist and a blind date with a book.
The communication from Paper Thistle Books to tell me the order had been placed, packaged and posted was fantastic.
The books arrived very quickly and were carefully packaged.
The three books were pristine and the blind date one was stunningly wrapped with a lovely selection of authentic Scottish treats. The book chosen by Paper Thistle Books was a fabulous choice that I can’t wait to read.
The package also came with a personalised note which was a lovely touch. All in all a fantastic experience, a superb product and excellent service. I would highly recommend and definitely use again.
