We have booked a number of times with Turkish Airlines and have always booked Business class. This year it was very bad and also the handling when the flight was cancelled.
We always book Business class and when the flight was cancelled at the airport, a new plane was put in place 2 hours later for departure and suddenly we were sitting economy. They promised us that we could book a return ticket within a year from the flight from Istanbul to Dalaman or our money back for the tickets and the waiting. When we got home we heard nothing more from Turkish Airlines and I emailed. The answer was suddenly that they did not refund anything and that we did not get a return ticket because it falls within the rules. In other words, if you book a business ticket, they can convert it to an economy ticket without refunding it. Very special, they are stealing from their customers. There were 4 of us and we have now paid too much which we will not get back from them. Turkish Airlines is stealing from their customers. TK2554
Where to start with this bogus airline…
Where to start with this bogus airline . Firstly if there was a 0 rating that wouldn't be low enough .
This airline doesn't know the meaning of customer service or satisfaction .
On the 23rd April travelled down through the night from Doncaster to Gatwick to fly on a much deserved holiday to the Philippines . Arrived at the airport at 2am for our 2.20pm flight so every eventuality could be sorted if any . Waited until 10am when the Turkish Airlines checking desk opened . Me and my partner presented our e-ticket for the nightmare to start . The name on my ticket had been changed by Google Autofil and had been shortened from Christopher to Chris . Turkish Airlines checkin basically pulled a face and said you aren't boarding and go away . Me and my partner we absolutely gutted but the heartless TA employees weren't at all sympathetic or made any attempt to put right the simple error but to say go away and buy a new ticket at an extortionate price of £2400 . Eventually managed to buy another ticket with another airline but didn't see my partner for 2 days . My partner still flew with TA and found the plane had loads of empty seats ......
it beggars belief why they couldn't have addressed the simple error on my ticket especially when I had submitted my passport for the e-ticket .
Avoid this airline especially when there is so many decent considerate and caring airlines to choose from . Avoid this insensitive and uncaring airline .
I will never ever buy another ticket from this bogus company ever again .
Avoid avoid avoid avoid avoid please for your sake this airline isn't at all bothered about negative feedback as you can see from all the reviews on this site .
Turkish Airlines does not respect EU law. In the case of flight delays, the company must compensate passengers. But they do not want to do that and try to make excuses for a long time for meaningless false excuses. They then offer nonsensical compensations that are far from what they are supposed to compensate under EU regulations. It's very embarrassing behavior. The company simply decided not to respect the law, or to violate it directly.
Please please please, DO NOT fly with Turkish Airlines.
Me and my family had a holiday planned in late October and early November, to Turkey and then Iran (my home country). The plan was to fly from Birmingham to Istanbul, stay in Turkey for 5 days and then travel to Iran. 2 weeks, before our flight, the issue between Turkey and Syria happened (Turkish militants attacked Syrian Kurds) and the British Government strongly recommended not to travel to Turkey, especially the southern part. I called the airline (Turkish Airlines) to change our ticket due to unexpected circumstances. They said as our ticket does not include free change or cancellation, I have to pay £1300 to change just one part of my ticket. I explained the situation, but they said the airport is safe (I didn’t want to stay in airport for 5 days). Finally, they suggested that I buy a one-way ticket, same day of my arrival to Istanbul. I paid £600 and bought the ticket from Istanbul to Tehran (as they suggested). We travelled to Iran and had a transit via Istanbul. However, when we went to the airport to came back to Birmingham, they said because we didn’t use one part of our ticket (as they had suggested over the phone when I called them two weeks before my flight), they had cancelled our return ticket!!!!!! Imagine, making a 2 hour trip to the airport, and now you have made it to the airport with a 1 year old, ready to check in your luggage, baby is unsettled because it is 1 am and doesn’t know what’s going on, and they say you don’t have a ticket… YOUR TICKET HAS BEEN CANCELLED!! I had to pay another £1200 to purchase another one-way ticket Lufthansa. So, we had a 2 hour drive back from the airport and returned the next day to finally fly back to the UK. NOT FUN AT ALL. Turkish Airlines shame on you!!! At least you could have emailed us to say you had cancelled out ticket. One year old, this wasn’t fair on him!!!
I spoke with some solicitors about the situation and they told me as my destination is out of EU, also the head office of the Turkish Airlineshairlines is out of EU too, I can’t request for any compensation!!!
If you want to travel to any country out of EU, NEVER EVER use Turkish Airlines. You won’t get any thing for any sort of delay or cancellation. Not worth to risk it. Even if you want to travel to Turkey, use a connection flight. Even swim if necessary but stay away from Turkish Airline.
If you made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you always have safe travels.
Turkish Airlines left us stranded at Istanbul Airport on our honeymoon in 2016, and it is something I have not ever forgotten since. In fact the reason we flew with Turkish for our honeymoon was that I had previously used them often for work (my company HQ is in Europe) and hadn't had a particularly bad experience at that point, other than the experience everyone has with missed connections at Ataturk and the terrible customer service desk there.
This time we were offloaded, left airside without a visa whilst our baggage was landside. It took me a day to work it out and negotiate with the immigration officers to let us landside, before we abandoned the rest of our honeymoon and flew off with another carrier. Not only have I not flown them since, I actively encourage others at my company to do the same by explaining all of the bad experiences we have come across with Turkish. I would run, not walk, away from this carrier.
PS. Even after posting about this on their facebook, e-mailing them and calling them, the most I have ever had is promises someone would call me back about the situation, which they never did.
I have for 3 days tried to book one of their promotion offers from their website. CPH-DPS. Everything works fine with finding flights (plenty to choose from), filling in personal information, BUT then when you go to the next page, which is payment and booking confirmation, the site provides an errormessage that "confirmation is not possible, contact our customer center". But when you contact their "customer" center they are adamant that it is NOT possible to book a flight to DPS with them. ??!! WHY do you promote an offer for a flight that you can then not purchase !! and then afterwards your customer center(s) (yes, I have talked to more than one) - claims that it is not possible to book a flight via the website to DPS from CPH. Just really an overall bad experience.
The website looks great though - wish the actual content lived up to the packaging.
