As eluded to by copious reviewers below, we felt we were deceived into making a second milestone payment to James Keeley and wife, Sarah Keeley, before work abruptly stopped on our garden building. This husband and wife duo now hold £21k of our hard earned cash and we have a wooden skeleton, exposed to the elements, to show for it. We were told lie after lie by these people; when after work stopped we were asked to make further payment to help their financial situation, Sarah Keeley told me all other clients accepted the deal and we were the only difficult ones who weren’t obliging. We have since learnt that is an outright lie and we were in the majority who turned this so called ‘offer’ down. This debacle ended with James Keeley sending us an email saying he wouldn’t be back. Alarmingly James and Sarah Keeley have now passed the directorship of this company to a new individual and have set up a new business - Oxfordshire Garden Buildings, where they now continue to trade (see their Facebook page). I can only assume this is to avoid the countless individuals they owe money to.
OK - Enough is enough. We have persevered with this company for long enough. We have come to the conclusion that we cannot see this project ever being completed by them and have therefore decided we have no other choice than to complete the work ourselves.
Our garden room was started in July 24 but things started unravelling right from the start.
They were extremely eager to take our money, but much less interested in getting on with any work. We had a couple of weeks intermittent work at the start, and even this was not without a certain amount of pushing.
We would say we had been extremely patient over the last six months but with ever increasing delays and excuses, and no clear reasoning or explanation, and with half days work here and there, and probably less than two weeks work on the job to date, we have had to pull the plug for our own sanity.
A close family member had already given them a one star on this platform a few months back, and this prompted a flurry of work on our promise to remove it. This may have led to a closer move towards completion than would otherwise have been, but this proved to be short lived.
Needless to say, they have taken a big chunk of our money in return for far less than we have been given. We are now at a point where communication with this company is all but nonexistent
On a personal level we have a certain amount of sympathy for their difficulties as the quality potential is there, but on the customer perspective it was a disaster. We are therefore unable to recommend this company.
We would suggest you go elsewhere for your garden room.
I would not even give 1 star, this is a zero Star company . They talk the talk and over promise and under deliver. Carl told us the room would be all done within 2 weeks , after a 3 week delay they started on the Friday 17th May, the 4th week after the start date , there was no plan or schedule of work . Workers arrived at random about 2 days a week at most . We had to constantly chase them up at every stage and were told story after story and lie after lie. They constantly demanded our understanding of a series of personal and staff problems they said they were having . Totally unprofessional.By August when they had broken 2 promises of deadlines to complete the project, we got another company in to complete the work . ( they were fantastic ( The New Home Improvement Group ) Using Oxfordshire Garden rooms was a very stressful experience at every step of the way and I would not recommend this company under any circumstances at all .
Our experience with Oxfordshire Garden Rooms is similar to those posted by other customers, for example, on 9 Oct 2024 and 6 Sep 2023.
There was chop and change in the tradespeople who did the work, which had a significant impact on both completion and quality.
In addition, towards the end of the project and five months after we had paid the deposit, James unilaterally cancelled the order for cladding without telling us or checking in advance, thereby delaying the project even further.
James and Carl missed many deadlines without giving us any heads-up; when Sarah gave us her number and specifically advised us to call her if James and Carl did not respond to our calls or messages, James then told us to stop contacting Sarah. Carl also asked us to stop holding him accountable for what he tells us.
Our opinion is to spend your hard-earned money elsewhere.
This company seems to be in the habit of starting works taking deposits from customers, don't pay existing trades and then smooth talk new ones to do work and don't pay them .please don't give them your hard earned money.find another company. Full of broken promises.
The building itself is amazing, it's really well put together and the install team were great. Unfortunately it's difficult to recommend the company itself, which is a real shame. I do not trust them to deliver on their guarantees if necessary, and consequently I find myself warning friends and family who ask about our building to try a different supplier.
I'm tired of companies and tradespeople washing their hands of a project once the final invoice is settled. There was only one item outstanding here and I felt it'd be unreasonable to hold back a portion of the invoice over it. Unfortunately this trust I placed in them to sort it out was misplaced. Ultimately, they have all the money, so they no longer care.
It's over a relatively small thing too. They ordered the wrong glass for the door, and promised to sort this within two weeks. It's been four months so far. They did resend out new glass, after two months, but it was the wrong type again. A further two months down the road and now they've simply stopped responding.
I count five ignored What's App messages, and I patiently left a week each time before following up with another message. I count three broken promises to call me. Now Carl just declines my calls and pretends he hasn't seen What's App messages.
It's just so unprofessional, and disrespectful, and doesn't bode well if something goes wrong with your £30k project.
Oxfordshire Garden Rooms have provided fantastic customer service from start to finish - very responsive to my initial enquiry and (multiple!) follow-up questions and were able to offer flexibility to meet our requirements. From the initial enquiry we had a finished office within 3 months and we're really happy with the result. The building process was very quick and efficient and we were kept informed of developments throughout and regularly consulted on details like placement of sockets/heater/etc. to make sure it worked for us. The building itself is great quality with a professional finish and so far I have really enjoyed using it as my work space. It retains heat amazingly well, even with sub-zero overnight temperatures this spring. I would highly recommend Oxfordshire Garden Rooms, both for the quality of the product and for the excellent customer service and flexibility.
We are so pleased with our garden room. James and Harry impressed us from our first meeting through to completion and, with Matt's additional expertise, the team provide a tailored and highly personal service that we didn't find with the larger nationwide organisations that we looked at.
The build was uniquely designed to fit our specific requirements, resulting in a wonderful, highly functional space finished to a very high spec. Every aspect was well thought out and communication throughout the build was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and their attention to detail is second to none.
The whole team were friendly, helpful and extremely professional and delivered a competitively priced, very high quality build. We are thrilled.
We chose Oxfordshire Garden Rooms not only because of the design and build quality but also because they can do the whole job unlike some companies where you have to sort the base and electrics yourself and they took away all that hassle from us. James, Harry and the installation chaps were great and really easy to get on with. We always felt looked after. We had a few hiccups along the way
which were not the guys fault. Nothing was too much trouble in getting our garden room finished to our satisfaction. The build quality is excellent. Working from home is now a real pleasure with a lovely view of our garden from my desk. I would have no hesitation in recommending Oxfordshire Garden Rooms. You really do get what you pay for.
Had a few quotes for my garden leisure room and so glad i trusted my instinct and went with Harry and James. Absolutely blown away with their rare combination of white glove customer service and building knowledge/skills. Their proactive attitude to achieving perfection and “personal touch” service was so refreshing to see in this day and age. To top this off, they’re competitively priced. Couldn’t recommend these guys more highly!
Can't recommend these guys enough. From start to finish James, Harry and the all team been fantastic and we are really happy with the finished room. Great attention to detail.
I looked at and contacted a number of companies (large and small) for a garden office and after some thought and discussion decided on Oxfordshire Garden Rooms.
From the initial consultation to the foundation work, to installing the final electrical fittings they were excellent - friendly, helpful and professional and a very good value, quality product.
In essence, I can't recommend them highly enough.
The guys at Oxfordshire Garden rooms have been excellent from the start to finish of the process. From the initial meeting to discuss the design and location of our Garden room all the way though the construction they were nothing but attentive and professional. Excellent customer service backed up by really high quality work. The garden room is the perfect office for our small garden and has allowed us the extra space without having to have an extension. Communication was great throughout the project and it was started and completed ahead of the estimated times. Cant recommend them enough. Great work!
Harry & James have created the perfect garden room for us, they were accommodating from start to finish to suit our design needs and budget. Communication has been excellent. Attention to detail fantastic. Can’t fault the service before, during and after the build. We 100% recommend and are very pleased with our decision to use these guys.
