Rude staff

Rude staff.
I took my pets for a double appointment for a vaccine. 3:15pm and 3:45pm.
They called me at 4:15pm , for me was far too late to wait any longer. And I left.

I have been with the practice for over…

I have been with the practice for over 10 years and the staff there have always been professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They were wonderful and caring when I lost my beautiful cat. Cant praise them enough for their help and support.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO I WOULD, TOTALLY MONEY MOTIVATED NEVER PUTTING THE ANIMAL FIRST AND IF YOU DARE TO QUESTION ANYTHING THE EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL STARTS. I COMPLAINED TO THE SO CALLED PARTNER WHO WAS LESS THAN USELESS, I HAVE SINCE CHANGED VET PRACTICES WHO ARE AMAZING AND VERY MUCH PUT THE ANIMAL FIRST. THEY REALLY DO NOT CARE AT ALL, I WILL SAY THE RECEPTION STAFF ARE GREAT AND HAVE A TUFF JOB TRYING TO KEEP THIS PLACE GOING, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Approach with caution

I took my dog to see Rami. Admittedly, she did have significant health issues but was alert and responsive and going on 30 minute walks every day. Rami said she needed painkillers. I told him she had had an allergic reaction previously. He had all her notes but neglected to read them. My dog became very unwell. When we took her back they pit her under general anaesthetic and gave her a 'magic' librella injection. She never recovered and she has passed away within a week of attending this veterinary practice. Oh and he will lull you into a false sense of security with 'bless your heart' whist fleecing you of thousands of pounds.

Good vet overall but expensive and

Good vet overall but expensive and, in my opinion, very financially motivated. I stopped trusting them after a while. I trust there are better vet practices around; less expensive and more pragmatic on their advice.

Awful vets and staff *DO NOT USE*

Awful vets and staff with no sympathy whatsoever. I have been with this practice for over 10 years. Hardly ever need them apart from annual vaccinations when my beautiful cat became ill, they mis-diagnosed my cats condition and my beautiful girl died after 3 months since visiting this vet on Welling. My cat was vomiting and I called and booked appointment, was charged a fortune and condition did not improve. We were told blood tests are clear?! Vet said due to 3 teeth that needed extracting. We followed advice and my cat was still not well. Took to see my cat on 12th August as she stopped eating and lost weigh. Vet (Marya) was rubbish and said that needs an ultrasound. However the only person who did ultrasound was on a 'long holiday'. Referred me to Park Vets (some other vet in Sidcup) who wanted £700! I told then are you joking me, how can people afford this??? Waited more than 2 weeks to finally get an appointment by which time my cat deteriorated significantly and was suffering and dying. My cat was dying, shaking her head, fitting and could not stand up and I called on same day to be told 'we are fully booked, sorry'. This is an absolute disgrace. It was the most distressing feeling and sight. All they want is your money, they do not care about your beloved pets. DO NOT USE whatsoever.

My 100% recommendation for Oval Pets, Sidcup and Eltham.

I would definitely recommend Oval Pets. My local is Blackfen, Sidcup and the staff are wonderful and friendly. Always sorted out my animals - my dog, cat and rabbits. They neutered all my rabbits and always went fine and very reasonably priced. Recently my dog had a flea dart or grass seed in his ear. The vet was very understanding that he needed sedation, and from phoning up to picking him up, it was all done in less than 4 hours! Very reasonable cost too. Eltham is a lovely branch too, they have a beautiful garden where your pet can have a little walk about. They do care and will recommend and advise what they think should be done to help your pet, with no obligation or forcefulness.
I would recommend Oval Pets for a caring option and to care for your all your pets. You will be in good capable hands.

Awful vets

Awful vets. So many errors made. They seem to guess about ailments and then charge the earth for the treatment which generally doesn’t work. Final straw today - booked time off work to get boosters done on my dogs - get to the welling branch and they have cancelled appointment and can’t book another one. Manager wouldn’t come to the phone - told to e mail in - been there - done that and they do nothing. So expensive as well - over £60 for a consultation- £168 for a broken nail - avoid this vets at all costs.

Patronising and emotionally manipulative

As new owners of a puppy, we began to get increasingly worried when our pup refused to eat and drink water for the whole day, and was very lethargic. We took her to Oval Pet Centre in Sidcup and were very shocked with the service we received, from both the receptionists and the vet.

The vet effectively emotionally blackmailed us into having this treatment which cost us over £300, (only for saline fluid and a 'general checkup') she stated that she couldn't x-ray our pup because 'she would be traumatised', even though she did state that it was most likely she had a foreign body in her stomach? She also gave our pup a heavy sedative which now we think was incredibly unnecessary. When she spoke to me she acted as if my pup was on her deathbed, and that all of this treatment was incredibly necessary for her survival, including a very expensive can of food and a probiotic sachet. It made us very upset and we felt as if we had no choice but to let her have all of this treatment.

When our pup came out of the vet, she was incredibly lethargic due to the sedative and this obviously made her seem a lot more unwell than before. We also only had cash on us at the time which the vet said would be fine to pay with. When we got to the till, the receptionists stated that we could not in fact pay with cash, and that there 'was a miscommunication'. The receptionists were very patronising and spoke to us as if we were children. One particular receptionist was speaking about us while we were in the room, very obviously complaining about us and being incredibly rude and insensitive while we were obviously upset and were just trying to pay for this treatment.

Eventually, they stated that we could leave the vets while paying half and paying half tomorrow, but they would have to 'keep the tin of food', which we were confused by because the vet stated that it would be beneficial to her to get the foreign body out, and would be easier for her to eat. By not allowing us to have that tin of food, she wouldn't have been able to eat that night that we were watching over her until the early hours of the morning.

We eventually managed to pay by card, but by the time we got home and our pup's sedative wore off, she was eating fine and even excreting, by the next day she was running around again.

It seems to me that the vet knew she did not need an x-ray, and tried to take advantage of a) the fact we were new dog owners b) the fact that we were upset and c) the fact that we were young. I would not recommend this place at all, as it is clear they are only in it for the money and are not empathetic whatsoever and the reception staff are rude and insensitive.

Clerical errors and poor customer service

We have had a few problems in our short time with the vets here, mainly clerical errors and the attitude of staff however following this decided to leave for another vet.
Errors included recording the incorrect sex of our two cats despite three reminders to change this on their systems. Losing information regarding our cats weights at previous appointments (which they apparently record on their system). Supplying the incorrect worming treatment for one of our cats (we received a dog treatment containing nearly twice the dose of the cat variant). I also noticed on their pet plan that we received different branded medication each of the three times we received either working or flea treatments, although they may be the same does lead you to wonder why they were chopping and changing each time. The nurse was very professional however did struggle a little to understand our description of issues as English was clearly a second language. The receptionists were very friendly when we first visited however the staff now, in particular Kelly, are quite rude and the attitude was poor when we highlighted issues we were having previously. The final straw was arriving 5 minutes late for an appointment to be told we would have to wait over an hour or book in later. Whilst this was our fault we did explain we were having difficulty getting our cat into his box. It was the way this was dealt with that left me very underwhelmed and we decided to leave for another vet.
