I really like the summarized transcription. Amazingly accurate. I do wish it could transcribe Teams calls taken on iPhone, this functionality would be game changing.

I can't delete my account

I just created an account, but I changed my mind and want to remove the account. They have the option remove account, however it doesn't work, I have already tried 3 times and after a long process and questionaries I just got a message "authentication failed" and they show me again my dashboard. Which makes no sense, how can I be in my dashboard and the authentication failed.

Extremely frustrating and unlawful recording

I signed up for Otter briefly while exploring transcription tools, but even after I stopped using it, the account remained linked to my Microsoft profile without my awareness. During an important job interview, Otter automatically started recording and sent meeting notes to my interviewers without me even realizing it. This caused a very stressful and embarrassing situation for me.
Transparency and user control are critical, especially when dealing with sensitive contexts like interviews or meetings. Otter failed to provide clear communication or safeguards, and users should not have to discover after the fact that recordings were happening under their own account. Now, I realized that they are facing a lawsuit in the US. Hope law enforcement will take them down.

Serious Privacy and Consent Issues

Otter.ai began sending emails to my colleagues on my behalf without my knowledge or permission, inviting them to join my workspace. The system also tried to join several of our client calls automatically — a feature I would never expect to be enabled by default. On top of that, it started emailing transcripts directly to our clients, again without my consent. These behaviors created serious trust and privacy concerns, and I did not want or authorise any of them.

Bait and Switch

I am a student. I entered that in my profile and was directed to a free trial Pro account. I ran out of minutes and was prompted to upgrade. After extensive conversation with the chat bot about otter's feature I did. The upgrade to 6000 minutes Otter Business is not the same service at all. They never warned me. They advertise it as everything Pro and more. But you cannot record live on your computer at all. So no seeing the transcript live to reference in class, no comments and adding notes, or highlighting. Total change. Nonrefundable and no option to "downgrade" back to Pro which has all those features... until the current subscription ends in 365 days! I opened a dispute and they refunded me before it proceeded.

I do recommend Otter Pro, if 1200 minutes a month is sufficient for you. Otter Pro can only record a live remote class on your computer, if you turn off the 'Default Audio Enhancements' in your computer's sound settings. I have to turn the 'default audio enhancements' back on for my mic to pick me up in live classes in some apps. I would trial it in your live class before purchasing. 1200 minutes/mo isn't enough for me, even for part time schooling, but the features are good, and they offer a student/teacher discount for the Pro account.

Consider offering something like a 3000min/mo option to pro.

Otter was able to make a transcript for 2 hours of class during the free trial.

Poor experience, spammed my work with notifications

I tried Otter AI to transcribe some video recordings. They automatically signed me up for a few services such as workspace and zoom meeting transcriptions. Worse, they spammed my entire team with notifications to join Otter on my behalf. It was difficult to disconnect all the app integrations, stop the meeting notifications, and delete the account.

Worst software

Even one star is too much. I never wanted to use Otter.ai. I suddently received spam mail from them and out of nowwhere they started joining my meetings as ai-notetaker. They even started work meetings for me. The whole software operates like a virus and it's almost impossible to cancel the subscription you never asked for.

After trying several AI apps to record…

After trying several AI apps to record and transcribe my calls and meetings, I settled on Otter.ai.
It is,by far, the most accurate and has the best features for whatever business you are in. I found that I wasted money on sub-standard apps that had all kinds of issues from inaccurate transcriptions to shutting down in the middle of a meeting. Stick with Otter.ai.

Not good

Not good. Clunky. They don't take all audio formats. Transcript fair at best, but then you can't copy and paste it to your word processor. It suddenly stops transcribing-OOPS you exceeded your 30 minute limit–it stops. It is a nightmare to cancel Otter. Here's an example: following a list of 6 steps, you get to number 4 saying "scroll to the bottom of the page and click "cancel" and THERE IS NO BUTTON. The friendliest and best one I've found is "Clipto". Noticeably better transcriptions, and no cut-off, and no marketing pop-ups. Best of luck

This platform break many HIPPA and data privacy laws. No consent is asked for other attendee's to the meeting. Screenshots are taken without consent. Unsubscribe link doesn't work. Stay away from this platform and make sure your IT team does everything necessary to block and restrict access to this application.

Positive experience with otter.ai

For the last few months I have been using otter.ai to record video conferences. It is a very convenient and useful platform. When using it, you don't have to be distracted by taking notes during the video conference. The system does everything by itself. Also very useful is the feature of saving the recording. At any moment you can go back to the text and restore the main points in your memory. I recommend it to everyone.

Otter.ai is a game changer for mental health professionals. Prior to using, I hand wrote notes as patient spoke (did not like having a laptop in my lap). Now I can totally focus on patient and never avoid eye contact. Total engagement. I am still learning how to use, I.e. edit, delete but in time I’ll learn.

Terrible experience, virtually malware

Terrible experience. I received a link from someone I was meeting with which forced me to connect to Otter.ai to join the meeting and it has been basically malware ever since. Bombarding me with unwanted notifications and prompts to add more features to more programs on my computer. I tried for 2 hours without success to follow their deliberately opaque instructions on their website to delete my "account". Support is impossible to reach. AVOID!

I cancelled my subscription, but I still got charged for it. The website functionality is confusing, as they don't want you to leave. They just want your money. Awful company - stay away from them.
