I have just completed another purchase from Ostia Tools and like before I'm really happy with the product and service from Antony. They are a great Company to deal with, thank you.

I made an offer for a Boxford CNC machine on eBay which the owner accepted, but the transaction occurred off eBay, however, I felt that they looked a reasonable and established business, so I went along with it.
The machine was described as fully functional and so I didn't expect any issues.
The first issue was that the Y axis kept "stalling". It appeared to have no torque, even with no work-piece fitted (in manual mode). I contacted them and let them know the problem.
I then spent a considerable amount of my time cleaning the bearing rails and lead screws. Eventually this seemed to do the trick and I let them know it seemed ok, although I hadn't machined anything at this point.
The next problem came when I wanted to connect the machine to the PC. It simply would not connect and I spent many hours messing around with it and getting nowhere. Eventually I contacted Boxford and they said it might be the cable. Ostia tools decided to send me a cheap off the shelf item which was not the original one or the one shown in the listing photographs. So I was never going to get a connection with the cable they provided.
Boxford provided me with the pin assignments for the cable and I made my own one which immediately resolved the issue.
After this I have had a number of issues with irregular errors, E-stop problems, some of which may be software related and some hardware, I have yet to find out.
I rang the company and explained my position and the owner said he would give me something back as I was likely to convert the machine to Mach3.
That offer evaporated over the weekend and I was told I would get nothing.
It seems there is no benefit in going to a so called business to buy something. There is no protection and I will never buy outside of eBay again.

Great company🏆 I called by just before Christmas needing a machine fixed to finish a job - nowhere had time to help.

Anthony said call by, as busy as the guys were they stopped what they were doing to help took them half an hour which meant I could finish the job I had for my customers.

A super company who have hard to find spares for engineering equipment. They managed to source a steady for my lathe. I bought a Chuck off Ant at Ostia tools and was really impressed item was exactly as described and the transaction was easy. The only warning I would give is if you go to there premises hold on to your wallet there’s some seriously impressive machines there I could have spent a fortune. They showed me the work they put into each one and definitely aren’t just a re seller

Fantastic experience from start to finish, I visited the unit in Stockport and then the item was shipped to me on a pallet, all very efficiently , contact was easy and clear!

I was searching for a Hegner multi cut 2ScScrollsaw. Ostia tools had several in Stockport warehouse. I visited, and met Ant, the owner who went out of his way to guide me to the best machine, demonstrated it, and carried it to my car. He even sent a spare part to me later, no extra charge. I would recommend any one to this Company.

I've been looking for a Union Graduate (single phase) lathe in good condition for a long time. Ostia had one for sale on their Ebay page and couldn't be more accomodating when it came time to sorting out payment and delivery. Antony was very helpful, arranged invoice and shipment very promptly. Lathe arrived well packed on a pallet and was in excellent order, completely as described. A minor issue (due to shipment company, nothing to do with Ostia) was dealt with promptly and very kindly by Antony replacing a part damaged by the shippers. All in all an excellent company to deal with and will definitely try to deal with them again. Thanks for the excellent service.

Just returned home after the 2 hour journey to see Anthony at Ostia Tools where I was very impresses with this young business. I had been looking for an upgrade table saw for my furniture making business but value the older English machines of which he has many. The 12" Wadkin saw I went to see was just too good to be missed so I had do buy it. Fortunately it filled the back of my van otherwise I would have been very tempted to buy a few more of the vast range of pieces he had.
Anthony was very welcoming and makes a fantastic cup of coffee, couple this with the great range of older, quality machines and the very keen prices, I will certainly be keeping an eye on his website and selling channels as these machines don't hang around for long.
