Not recommended

I purchased two pairs of glasses from Optica Optimal, and my experience has been disappointing. While I understand that the UK is no longer part of the EU, I was shocked to receive an import duty charge of £50 from FedEx a month after my purchase. The company is based in Spain, but since some retailers have warehouses abroad, it’s not immediately obvious that extra import fees will apply. Optica Optimal only mentions these potential charges in tiny print, and they state that it’s "not their responsibility" on those semi-automated customer service replies to your emails. This is misleading, as UK customers should be clearly informed that these charges will apply and not left wondering if or when they might be billed. In the end, the total cost of my glasses was far higher than expected, making them more expensive than buying from a high street store.

Additionally, the company's product availability claims are deceptive. At the time of ordering, all items appeared in stock, yet shortly after, I received an email stating they weren’t, with a 10-15 day delay added to my delivery. The worst part? This policy is also buried in small print, so you don’t realize until it's too late. If I had known about these delays, I wouldn’t have ordered from them in the first place.

If you’re considering buying from them, be prepared to pay far more than expected and wait much longer than promised. There are better and more transparent alternatives—Not recommended!

‘Regarding your communication about the customs charges for your order. We would like to explain to you that it is not up to us to determine the rates of customs charges set by your country.
Customs charges are set solely and exclusively by the tax authority of the country of destination. We have already informed you, before placing your order, that non-EU countries have to pay customs charges separately from the order.
If the customer refuses to pay customs and returns the package to us, the amount will be refunded (provided that the product is not customised, e.g. multifocal lenses, lenses for astigmatism, etc.). These types of lenses are non-refundable) minus all costs incurred for the return (transport costs and customs duties)’.

The company has refused refund me

The company has refused to refund me for shipping costs and deducted a random amount for return cost, while violating eu laws, since they couldn’t deliver on time, which wasn’t the curriers fault, but the company that didn’t ship on time. Furthermore, the currier never provided me with information on where to pick up my package.

Additionally, the seller is obliged to inform the customer online of return costs if it’s something the company with handle.

Stay away from this scamming business. They’ve been reported to EU.

EU dictates the following:

Your purchase should be delivered within 30 days unless you agree otherwise with the seller. A consumer can cancel the order and claim a refund if:

The order did not or will not arrive in time for a specified essential event
The trader fails to deliver by a date specified by the consumer
The trader has stated unequivocally that they cannot or will not deliver the goods
The trader fails to deliver the item(s) within an additional period
If the contract is cancelled, the trader is obliged to refund the consumer any and all sums they have paid under the contract within 14 days.

Attention!

Attention! I think their 5 star reviews are fake.
I've made an order and it's been 1.5 months already.
They initially said it's not in stock (only said that after i paid money) and saying it's 3-4 weeks late. Not it's been 6-7 weeks already.

Worst customer care. They won’t email me back

They won’t email me back. I’ve tried several times on the email provided, also tried to contact via social media but no one responds and it’s been months of this. My prada sunglasses I purchased are faulty. The label is rubbed off and all I want is a replacement, but how can I if my email is ignored.. terrible company to deal

Fast delivery ever

I ordered a pair of sunglasses for my Friends 30th yesterday and they arrived in London today not even 24 hours of ordering them great service even during Black Friday they was able to send it out right away

Horrendous company

Horrendous company, still trying to get refund of £150 after 3 months, constant delay tactics, can't get details of finance department to deal with directly. Saying I have a PayPal dispute but have sent proof from them that this is not the case. Now in the hands of my solicitor. Dreadful customer service. Avoid dealing with them.

Ignore their response below as customer service are the ones that responded with the above and are not trying to resolve the issue at all. Ignoring evidence from Paypal.

Worst company ever

Worst company ever. I’m starting to think this is a scam.
I ordered MIU MIU MU 09YS 1AB5S0 glasses back in July order (in Spain) and still have not received them ( it’s 1:st of November tomorrow)
I have sent many emails with updates and trying to get answers but they are saying they don’t have any information from supplier and if you want money back you’ll get a refund. I DONT WANT A REFUND I WANT MY ORDER! Note: they raised the price on this model by around 30€ on their site and if I would order again from another account I would probably get them…
DONT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Extremely disappointed and I don’t understand why their supplier can’t give them ANYTHING an answer, a date something.

Update: after 4 months of waiting I gave up and REQUESTED a refund. Yet have not gotten anything back, still waiting after the 10 days they guarantee the money should be back on my account.

Be careful

Update: I changed my rating to 5 stars.
Optica Optima came back with apologies and delivered the right pair of glasses. They were actually very prompt with the expediting after the error.

Be careful, better to avoid complication.
Not a serious company. They've send me a different pair of sunglasses than the ordered one (cheaper and different size). Since one week I struggle with them to recover my money.
The sun glasses box was unsealed on receival (not the transport box, which was perfectly sealed), thus they may sell some stock pairs or used ones. They come back with an email requesting me to give back the pair for replacement or refund, but since then silence.

I’m very impressed

I’m very impressed. I ordered 90 pairs of multi-focal contact lenses that were considerably cheaper than the UK. I immediately got an email that said there would be a short delay but they actually came 6 days later. Will definitely be using again!

Horrible warranty and return policies

Even in case of warranty (complaint) you have to pay on your own for the return to spain! This is not EU law compliant and customer service always sends you return policy.

15 days return policy until delivery in Spain is also ridiculous.

Thief company

Thief company, who does not want to help their customers. Telling me to get in contact with customer service, and then just tells me they cant help with the problem. Do not shop with this company. They are tricking you into 100€ / month useselss membership by signing up automatically and also will not return full amount of purchase when you cancel your order because of 8 weeks delivery time. Worst website and truly dirty way to do business

Scratched sunglasses

Ordered a pair of sunglasses, which a received scratched. I send an email last week and received no response. I’ve now got a bill for £55 for import tax which was not stated when buying from the website. Avoid at all costs!

They sell counterfeit products, avoid this company at all costs.

Avoid this company at all costs.
They will sell you counterfeit products (order number DBDCVKOQL) that's why their prices are lower than other retailers with genuine products. Please get your items authenticated if you purchased from Optica Optima. Even if you follow their returns policy you will not be refunded.
Save yourself the wasted money, time and effort. Buy from a reputable company instead. My order was placed in July and returned in line with their policy. It's September and still no refund.
Optica Optima is a scam company!
Don't be fooled into thinking you received a genuine product.
I've already sent numerous emails to the company, yet here i am with no item and no refund. Nothing more to be said other than give me back my money.

AVOID THE ONLINE STORE

I ordered online and received the wrong sunglasses, a week late. Their customer service is super unhelpful, difficult to reach and unwilling to do anything about it.

Update: they replied to this review with a different customer service email. It was the exact same unhelpful bot replying and not addressing the issue. It's a scam, spend your money elsewhere.

Bad Customer Service - Inaccurate Details on Website

Ordered and paid for prescription glasses on 17th July 2024. At purchase the item was in stock and would be delivered in 3-5 days.
After waiting 6 weeks and sending multiple emails, which I never had answered properly, I decided to cancel my order and request a refund. I got no reasonable explanation for the considerable delay nor did I get an apology. I have to wait up to 14 days for the refund now! I would not recommend.
