I leave a 1star cause there is no option for less… my experience with this company is below poor. I did an order it came after 2 weeks and now for the refund I need to wait for the email(an other very slow process) to get the address to refund.
I’ve been offered (attention!!!) 3% refund if I keep the product. But if I want to return I need to pay a lot of money to send it to HONG KONG and they will still keep a 15% from the product (f***k knows why) once returned. In general I chose optego cause the hiking sticks were recommended and it did say is UK based.never again.

Scam company

Purchased Optego a walking pole as recommended in Hiking Top 5 recommended Poles for 2026.

Cost was £100

Incredibly poor Necasil pole arrived which is sold Temu for under £20 and was not the item described.

Similar experience to the other buyers on here (reviews posted after mu experience) with an awful amount of run around. I reported it to my bank who investigated and enforced a refund from the company.

The company are now hounding me to return the item or refund the refund back to them otherwise they will arrange debt collection. Ha!! Im sorry when the bank deems the transaction to be a scam you can't then get the money back you've refunded.

Stay well clear!!!!

Wrong Pole Terrible Customer Service!

I ordered an Optego hiking pole (I am recovering from a broken foot and needed support!) and paid for expedited shipping. The pole took ages to arrive (after, in fact, I had returned from the trip for which I purchased it), and then was not an Optego pole at all, but instead Necasil. Worse than that, the final snap at the bottom did not work. I requested a refund and then was given a major run around with multiple requests for explanations and photos, all of which I sent. I still do not have a refund about six weeks after I ordered! TERRIBLE COMPANY

OPTEGO-UK Hiking Poles are NECASIL Hiking Poles

On May 8th 2026 I read a review of OPTEGO-UK Hiking Poles (Best 5 Collapsible Hiking Poles of 2026: Ultimate Stability &
Comfort Compared at SIDEBYSCORE).

I ordered two pairs for £246.29 GBP.

I received two pairs of NECASIL Hiking Poles. These cost approximately £20.00.

After multiple e-mails I was sent the return information:
2nd Floor, Building G, Zhenghan Warehouse, No. 8, Pulong West Road, Tangxia Town,
Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, China
Postal code: 523730

On May 20th 2026 I posted the very poor quality goods I had been sent back to China via Royal Mail International Tracked for £20.85.

I initiated a charge back claim, under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 with my bank. It was successful.

PLEASE NOTE: the same scam is now running under IRONIS-UK Hiking Poles (Best 5 Trekking Poles of 2026: Expert Reviews for Hikers & Outdoor Enthusiasts at PICKLEGEND)

They are selling the same NECASIL Hiking Poles. It is essentially the same web site, registered for three months. They still can't spell aluminium...which I only wish I had spotted sooner... so, please, do not waste your time or money.

UPDATE
On July 1st 2026, OPTEGO sent this email.

Dear Customer,
We are contacting you regarding the Four Trekking Poles, which our records confirm was successfully delivered and signed for at your address. Our financial department has been notified that a bank chargeback was initiated for this transaction, resulting in a full refund of GBP 246.29 being credited back to your account. Because this dispute has been finalized in your favor, our company has received zero payment for the high-value merchandise currently in your possession. This situation has caused us a significant financial loss, including the cost of the product, international shipping, and mandatory bank processing fees.

To resolve this matter fairly and professionally, we must insist on one of the following two options:

Settle the Outstanding Balance: If you wish to keep the Four Trekking Poles - Black, please confirm your intent to pay. We will then provide you with instructions on how to place a new settlement order for GBP 246.29 to balance your account.

Return the Property: If you do not wish to pay for the item, we require the immediate return of our property to our warehouse at your expense. We value our customers and trust that this is simply a misunderstanding during the payment process. However, as you are currently in possession of both the product and the full refund, we must reach a resolution within the next 48 hours to avoid reporting this as an unresolved commercial debt to our loss prevention partners.

Please reply to this email to confirm which option you prefer so we can provide the necessary details for the next step.

My reply stated:
The items were returned May 20th 2026 using the contact information you supplied. (See the Royal Mail Parcel Label and Associated Customs Declaration PDF attached).

Current tracking information states: This item is still
being assessed by the destination customs authority. If any further information is required before release they will contact the recipient directly. Please contact you Customs Authority. (See the updated Royal Mail Parcel Tracking PDF attached that illustrates the full tracking history).

The next day OPTEGO emailed again.

Thank you for providing the update and sharing the Royal Mail tracking information. I understand how frustrating it is that your return package is being held up. However, please be advised that international customs clearance must be handled directly by the sender or the destination's designated customs broker working with the shipping carrier. As the recipient, we do not have the legal authority or access to intervene, submit documents, or clear the package with the customs authority on your behalf.

According to our return policy, the sender is responsible for ensuring the package successfully clears customs. We kindly recommend contacting Royal Mail (or their local delivery partner) directly, as they will be able to provide you with the specific reason for the delay and advise if any additional documentation or information is required from your end to release the package.

We are monitoring the situation and will process your refund as soon as the package successfully clears customs and is delivered to our warehouse. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

So, now the scammers are promising to refund the money my bank has already returned...! At this stage, I did not reply. Instead, I blocked their email address.

Avoid at all costs

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other customers should be aware of my experience with Optego.

I purchased trekking poles from a website branded with “UK” in the address, which genuinely gave the impression I was buying from a UK-facing retailer operating under normal UK consumer expectations.

The poles themselves were not robust enough for my intended use. The handles felt loose and unstable, and for a product costing nearly £200, the overall quality and durability did not meet my expectations at all.

The biggest issue, however, was the returns process.

Only after raising concerns did I discover that returns had to be sent internationally to Hong Kong/China entirely at my own expense, including shipping costs, customs risks, tracking requirements, and handling fees. This was not prominently highlighted during the purchase process in a way I believe most UK consumers would reasonably expect.

Over multiple emails, I repeatedly explained that I was willing to return the items if the company arranged or covered the return process. Instead, I received repeated template-style responses insisting that I either:
- pay to return the items internationally at my own risk and expense, or
- keep products I do not consider fit for purpose.

I also found it concerning that:
- the business appears difficult to independently verify
- I struggled to identify a clear UK trading entity connected to the website
- the customer service and returns process did not meet my expectations
- the company seemed unusually resistant to absorbing any return costs despite the dispute continuing for weeks

Overall, the experience has left me extremely disappointed and uncomfortable as a customer. I would strongly encourage anyone considering purchasing from this company to carefully research the returns process and understand that returns may involve overseas shipping, customs requirements, and additional costs.
