As someone who used to spend way too…

As someone who used to spend way too many hours on Geoguessr before they completely locked everything behind a paywall, finding Openguessr felt like hitting a goldmine. It’s awesome to finally have a solid, free-to-play alternative where I can just hop on and test my geography skills without a subscription pop-up blocking my screen every five minutes.

Completely Free: This is the biggest selling point. You can just open the site and start playing immediately.

Smooth Interface: The UI is clean, modern, and very intuitive. Navigating the map and dropping pins feels responsive and snappy.

Active Community Potential: It feels like a project made by geography nerds for geography nerds, which I highly respect.

Street View Coverage: While the game is highly playable, the map pool and occasional camera generation can feel a bit repetitive or limited compared to Google's official premium API dataset. You'll occasionally drop into some blurry or restricted areas.

Feature Variety: It’s great for a quick classic round, but I’d love to see more competitive modes implemented in the future—like a proper battle royale or a more robust competitive matchmaking system to really sweat against other players.

If you are looking for a casual, no-nonsense geography guessing game to play during study breaks or while listening to a podcast, Openguessr is a no-brainer. It definitely scratches that Geoguessr itch without hurting your wallet. Huge props to the devs, and I can't wait to see how this platform evolves!
