Have sent numerous rental applications with on the market. Then a few days later you receive a follow up email to call a number. The agent then every time doesn't know what your on about as they haven't received your application. Absolutely useless and a waist of time this company. Every single application I have made and there has been many has never reached the area agent. I'll never use this again.

Says they offer a free instant valuation but actually don’t, make you sign up to be contacted by an estate agent with no valuation. Clearly just a way to be paid for leads.

The advert stated to get a valuation on line to give your details. The next day I started getting calls from all the estate agents in Sheffield, they had passed my information on instead of giving a valuation on line as stated. I could have phoned the agents myself but I didn't want that hassle, I will never use this company for any reason .

As a retired Charted Building Surveyor I have done a few valuations . As a matter of interest I looked up the value of my property. The response was inaccurate and misleading.
Dont trust this company / algorithm

I am warning anyone concerned about privacy, image rights, and lawful advertising — OnTheMarket refuses to remove photographs of your home even after you withdraw consent in writing, if you were not the person who created the listing.
In my case, photographs of the inside of my private home — showing my possessions — were uploaded by an estate agent without my permission. I notified OnTheMarket in writing, clearly stating that I did not consent to the continued use of my images and that the content breached my rights under the UK GDPR (UK Data Protection Act 2018) and potentially copyright law.
Their response? They refused to act, claiming they are “just an advertising website” and cannot remove content unless instructed by the estate agent — even when notified that the agent’s use is unauthorised and potentially unlawful.
This approach not only ignores an individual’s rights over their own images, it also risks breaching the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (in force from April 2025), which require full and accurate material information in property advertising and prohibit misleading or unlawful practices.
The implication is clear:
✅ Your home could be photographed and listed without your permission.
✅ If you demand removal, OnTheMarket will ignore you unless the agent agrees.
✅ Even if that content breaches data protection law, they will leave it online.
This is not responsible practice from one of the UK’s largest property platforms. If you value your privacy, ownership of your images, and truthful advertising, be extremely cautious. Once your images are online with OnTheMarket, you may have no control over their use.

changed agreement and removed part of our advert in order to get more money from us the customer despite longevity and little or no warning or options for a small independent!!!!
This company is a complete joke. I collected the keys on 28th July and still can’t move in. The house is in horrific condition – rubbish everywhere, flies on the bed, landlord’s belongings dumped all over. It’s false advertising – they claimed “furnished or unfurnished” but refused to clear the furniture and all when I said I wanted it unfurnished.
I’m now homeless with my child, moving from one friend’s house to another while they do nothing. Disgusting .
Milegategroup Rental is completely unprofessional. The flat I was given is uninhabitable – dirty, full of junk, and unsafe. I asked for a second key for the main entrance (a security key that can’t be cut), and they simply said “nothing we can do.”
It’s been over a week of complaints and they’ve ignored everything. I’ve provided photos and still no action.
OnTheMarket should be ashamed to allow companies like this to advertise.
They don't pick calls, they will ask you to email ,I did yet there response is bad.
Onthemarket you need to do something about this.

The customer service is five star. Joe Dockerty who is our Business Development Consultant is a breath of fresh air.

The valuation they gave for my house was nearly 30% below local estates.

Don't bother. Trying to get a correct valuation via their website is a joke and hugely undervalues properties. Doesn't even ask or give you the ability to enter property details correctly 🙄

I literally just made a phone call to enquire about a house for rent and the guy on the phone hang up in my face without even getting the chance to finish my sentence. Poor customer service

SCAM! On the market is advertising a number of properties from a company that has been dissolved. When you ring the agents advertised phone number, your call goes through to on the market. They then forward the call to the ‘so called agent’ and the call is then disconnected after a few rings.

Their online valuation estimate are so inaccurate…. We had a survey completed out of curiosity we checked on their website it was £85,000 less than the surveyor valuation..

I had a very disappointing experience with an agency listing a property on OnTheMarket in Dudley. Recently, my family and I viewed a rental house. When we arrived, we noticed another woman was already there with the agent. From the way they interacted, it was obvious they were more than just strangers — they seemed like close friends.
To our surprise, during the viewing, that same woman confidently told us, “This house will be mine,” right in front of us. What shocked us even more was the agent just stood there smiling, not saying a single word — like he already knew.
A couple of weeks later, we got the usual call: “Sorry, the landlord chose someone else.” But honestly, do you really believe that? Because guess what? Not long after, we saw the house again — and it was that same woman living there. The one who basically told us off, as if she had already sealed the deal with the agent right from the start.
It honestly feels like a complete setup — like the applications are just a game and decisions are already made behind the scenes. Very unprofessional, and it feels unfair how genuine applicants like us are just wasting our time.

Usually I use Zoopla to browse for property in my area as I'm in the market to purchase my first house. I tried onthemarket after seeing their advertising, I have since been bombarded by about 10 emails since and have tried on multiple occasions to unsubscribe with no success. Avoid. Will have to add to a block list.
