Extremely Disappointing Experience – No Response to EC261 Claim
I traveled with Oman Air on flight WY118 from Frankfurt to Muscat on 30 July 2025. The flight was cancelled after a three-hour wait at Frankfurt Airport, and my journey was significantly disrupted, causing me to reach my final destination nearly 29 hours later than planned.
Despite submitting a compensation claim under EU Regulation 261/2004 on 27 August 2025 and following up multiple times, I have received no meaningful response from Oman Air. Their official reply on 14 September contained incorrect information regarding the applicability of EC261, and my subsequent emails were ignored.
The lack of communication, disregard for passengers, and the airline’s dismissive attitude are unacceptable. I hope Oman Air improves its handling of compensation claims and treats passengers with the respect and responsibility expected of a major international airline.
Very long time but ok in the end
It took a very long time, many emails and calls, but eventually I received the correct refund amount.
I could not simply get the refund online as it was showing the wrong refund amount according to the ticket type I had booked. I had to email websalesrefund, the automatic reply said I would get a response in 15 working days, however it took considerably longer than this to get an initial reply.
Comfortable flight
I traveled with my family to India from London last August via Oman Airways, and overall, my experience was quite positive. The check-in process was efficient, and everything proceeded smoothly. However, I would like to mention the luggage allowance as a downside. The suitcase weight limit is only 20 kilograms, while most airlines typically offer 23 or even 46 kilograms, especially for flights to India where many travelers visit friends and family. A higher luggage allowance would be beneficial, and I hope the airline will consider this.
On a positive note, the seating was comfortable, the food was good, the flight was on time, and the price was reasonable.
Predatory pricing / Broken Website
Predatory pricing / Broken Website
My experience with Oman Air was terrible and I never even flew with them. I booked an Economy ticket in November. I tried to change the flights to February. The website would not let me do this. So, i checked the price of a new ticket with an upgrade to business which would cost a £3300. I called to change my tickets. The customer service representative quoted me £5600 for the same tickets. I flagged the website price and the glitch that didn't allow me to change my ticket. They said there was nothing that they could do. They then suggested I speak to their IT team to resolve the website issue. I queried why as a customer I would be responsible for fixing an issue on their website. We got nowhere. I think this is an airline with terrible customer service, a broken website and predatory pricing practices that tries to take advantage of the customer. I will never give them my custom.
Great airline I used to from UK to SA
Great airline I used to from UK to SA
Almost ruined our honey moon
Hi everyone,
I’m posting here to see if anyone else has experienced something similar with Oman Air and can advise on how to request a refund effectively.
My husband and I had a confirmed booking for flight WY602 from Dubai to Bangkok, originally scheduled for Tuesday, October 28 at 6:05 a.m. However, the airline changed our flight to Monday, October 27 at 10:20 p.m. — without our consent.
This reschedule completely disrupted our travel plans, as we’re flying in from São Paulo and only arrive in Dubai at 10:35 p.m. on October 27, meaning we physically couldn’t make the new flight.
Because of this last-minute change and the urgency of reaching Bangkok, we had no choice but to buy new last-minute tickets with another airline at a much higher price.
We already emailed Oman Air asking either to be rebooked on a flight that fits our original itinerary or to receive a full refund, but haven’t received a clear response yet.
Has anyone dealt with a similar issue with Oman Air? How did you manage to get a refund or compensation in a case like this? Any advice on which channel actually works (email, call center, social media, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much in advance!
Brilliant Experience
Brilliant experience - we were travelling from LHR to MCT and were hit by most trains being cancelled out of London - we didn't think we would make our flight. The airline called us, kept the desk open, rushed us through security and to the gate, meaning that we just made our flight. Incredibly grateful and very aware that several airlines would not have done this.
Highly recommend!
Delay, followed by delay, business as usual at WY
Flew to Phuket with Oman Air, round trip from Doha. At first, we were happy with the ticket prices compared to Qatar Airways, but we quickly learned a hard lesson — saving money often means sacrificing quality.
Over the course of our five-day vacation, our return flight from Phuket to Muscat, along with our connecting flight, was changed at least three times. We eventually departed Phuket two hours late, landed in Muscat half an hour after our connection had already left, and the next available flight — originally scheduled five hours later — was further delayed by another two and a half hours without any explanation or solution.
This was our first and most certainly our last experience with Oman Air. Sometimes, the savings just aren’t worth the stress, the headaches, the endless “surprises,” and the indifferent attitude of an airline that clearly isn’t focused on keeping its customers happy.
Absolute Nightmare & Customer Fraud
My parents flew with Oman Air from Bengaluru→London via Muscat with correct documents. After clearing immigration in India, they boarded and landed in Muscat. But for the second leg, Oman Air in Muscat denied them boarding to London over a 1-hour visa technicality—an issue that should have been caught at origin. Stranded, staff told them to:
• Book new tickets
• Promised their luggage would be transferred
• Assured their return tickets would remain valid
They incurred significant costs trusting this advice.
A month later at Heathrow, they were denied boarding again—flagged as "no-shows" for the flight from Muscat to London which they were “instructed to miss”.
After 2.5 hours of failed resolution, staff admitted Muscat office was unreachable. Their solution? 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱. The moment the payment was processed, the staff member vanished into a restricted area with a sarcastic, "good luck with the claim, it’s a bit tricky but you will get there”, no case number, and no idea how to get my money back.
One month later: no case number, no contact, no reimbursement despite attempts through all channels.
𝗧𝗼 Oman Air:
• Why must customers pay for YOUR errors?
• Where is inter-country team accountability?
• Why should the customer take the headache of getting a refund when ideally you have asked them to help out with a system failure at your end?
• Will anyone in customer service ever reach out atleast after this?

Great improvement
Flew on Oman Air from Karachi to London Heathrow after ten years. Great improvement in service and price paid was far more cheaper than other airlines.
Worst customer service I've ever experienced
Wouldn't even give a star if I didn't have to. I was checking in and didn't realise I was adding extra luggage (thought it wasn't included) so ended up paying an extra £260. On realising the error I called them and they refused to refund me. I literally called 5 mins later. I told them I wasn't bringing excess baggage and they said their policy is still not to refund. Disgusting customer service. Avoid this airline at all costs...
Damaged bag claim letter ignored for over a month
I travelled with Oman Air (WY824/WY685, 14 June) and arrived in Riyadh with a damaged bag and missing contents. There was nobody at the baggage desk to report it. I needed a letter from Oman Air stating to claim from my travel insurance. I did not want to claim from Oman Air. Since then, I have called Muscat and Riyadh offices, emailed, submitted claims online, and even visited Riyadh airport three times.
Despite promises to issue a letter to my insurer, Oman Air has failed to deliver. The Riyadh and Muscat offices did not answer calls, 3 visits to the airport were ignored and written commitments have been retracted. Over 3 months later, I still have no resolution. Very poor customer service and lack of accountability.
Terrible Customer Service
Terrible Customer Service – Avoid Oman Air
I’ve had an extremely frustrating experience with Oman Air. They suddenly stopped flying to J... without proper notice or support for affected customers. For the past three months, I’ve been calling their customer service trying to get help, but the staff clearly don’t know their own policies. Each time I call, I’m told the refund team cannot be contacted directly – instead, I’m just given an email address that never replies.
It’s been a complete runaround with zero accountability. Oman Air’s customer service is among the worst I’ve dealt with – unresponsive, unhelpful, and clearly not trained to handle real issues.
Avoid flying with Oman Air if you expect even the basic level of customer care. I regret booking with them.
This is the baddest airline there is in the world
This is the baddest airline there is, they charge you excess for everything. Really bad service
I booked a return flight from London…
I booked a return flight from London Heathrow to Dubai via Muscat on 18 May 2025 (Booking Reference: GDASAE, Ticket: 9102123914558) for travel on 3-5 October 2025. The total cost was £379.92.
The Problem:
On 27 September 2025 - just 6 days before my departure - Oman Air changed both my Muscat-Dubai connecting flights with no explanation:
Original Schedule:
WY609: Muscat-Dubai departing 14:30, arriving 15:40
WY602: Dubai-Muscat departing 06:05, arriving 07:20
Changed Schedule:
WY603: Muscat-Dubai departing 08:40, arriving 09:50 (5 hours 50 minutes EARLIER)
WY604: Dubai-Muscat departing 11:05, arriving 12:20 (4 hours 55 minutes LATER)
Why This Was So Disruptive:
This was essential business travel - I must visit Dubai every 180 days for visa maintenance purposes. The schedule changes meant:
Lost Business Time: The later return flight on Sunday meant I lost most of Saturday in Dubai for client meetings and business activities
No Acceptable Alternatives: When I contacted Oman Air, the only alternative offered would have meant returning home Monday evening instead of Sunday. This was impossible as my wife works full time as a teacher and we had no way to arrange childcare for our children at 6 days notice.
No Choice But to Accept: I couldn't:
Cancel and rebook (significant extra costs)
Reschedule to another weekend (would exceed my 180-day visa requirement and lose my visa)
Take the alternative flights offered (family commitments)
My Request:
I submitted a formal compensation request 2 weeks ago for the disruption, referencing Article 9.1.2 of Oman Air's Conditions of Carriage regarding significant schedule changes.
Current Situation:
As of today, I have received no response whatsoever from Oman Air. According to their own Conditions of Carriage (Article 9.4.2), they should respond within 28 days.
The Good:
The actual flights operated smoothly and the cabin crew were professional. This review is solely about the schedule change handling and lack of response to my compensation request.
My Hope:
I am a reasonable person seeking fair compensation for a significant disruption caused by Oman Air's operational decisions with inadequate notice. I hope Oman Air will respond to my claim and resolve this matter professionally.
If airlines make substantial last-minute changes that disrupt passengers' carefully planned business and family commitments, they should at least have the courtesy to respond to compensation requests in a timely manner.
I will update this review if Oman Air responds and resolves the situation.
Unprofessionality, ignorance, arrogance
I flew MPX to DPS via KUL with a C1 visa for Indonesia, which by no means requires a return ticket.
At MPX airport, the head of OmanAir staff rudely denied my boarding unless I immediately purchased one, which resulted in a very high increase of unnecessary cost and stress in my journey.
Once in Indonesia, I immediately requested a refund, providing complete proof of the absolute unnecessity of a return ticket in my case.
Not only OmanAir repeatedly sent the wrong links to access the refund form, but later on failed to provide a proper and coherent answer.
It was only after several months and our lawyer intervention that we received the due refund.
Appalling Airline
My experience with this airline was disappointing, particularly regarding their customer service. I found that the representatives ended calls before addressing all of my inquiries, which left me feeling frustrated and unsupported.
Worst company every
Worst company every!
2 days delay.
And they charge me for a businis seat that i did not have! So now i need to arrange everything to get my monry bavk! Cusmter servvice wont help you! Its very very por!!!
Please, Please do not use this Airline!
I booked 2 business class flights in April to Thailand with Oman Air to celebrate a important wedding anniversary via a booking agent, however when checking in on Oman Airways website late September a few days before our flight I found our flight seats had been moved to economy with no communication.
I tried numerous times to email their helpline and finally called Muscat who said it had changed and I could if I wanted pay an increased amount for business class?more than I already paid! They also stated I could speak to check in staff at the desk at the airport, when we did the check in staff stated Muscat always does that and nothing can be done even when I provided them with proof of purchase stating Business Class. They just palmed me off saying I should claim and complain about Muscat!
Totally unhelpful I will never use this airline again!!!
Flight wy172 delay

Huge delay
Ruins the holiday i paid for. No compensation ofcourse.
