A bot for my mom
My wife and I have an Ohmni robot that we use to communicate with our mom who lives in another state. Even before covid-19, we found it incredibly easy to interact with her, as we could just login to the robot and drive around her house to talk to her. The head tilts and you can drive wherever the space allows, so it's far more interactive than any Facetime app can be. It's hands-free so it allows her to just sit there and enjoy our company.
Especially during the covid19 crisis, our family have used the robot to visit with her. Her health is not well, so none of us want to take the risk of infecting her with the virus, so whenever and wherever possible, we utilize the robot to check in on her. She's not exactly tech-savvy, so its been great because she doesn't have to do anything. It's all controlled from our end, even the charging. She doesn't have to lift a finger. We are so thankful we found this robot because its allowed our family to stay closer to her, especially in the middle of a pandemic.
