About Novorésumé - BEST AI Resume Builder
Written by the company
Novoresume is a resume builder trusted by over 18 million job seekers in 180+ countries. Founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, the platform was built around a single insight from recruitment research: recruiters spend just 6 to 7 seconds skimming a resume before deciding whether a candidate moves forward.
Most resume tools give you a blank page and wish you luck. Novoresume gives you a system.
What Makes Novoresume Different
- ✅ Recruiter-approved templates: every design is built around the 6-7 second scan, with visual hierarchy that guides the eye to what matters most: your experience, skills, and results
- ✅ Real-time content optimizer: as you write, Novoresume analyzes your content and flags issues with layout, phrasing, keyword density, and section completeness based on your target role and location
- ✅ ATS-compatible designs: all templates pass through applicant tracking systems without breaking formatting or losing data
- ✅ One-click customization: switch fonts, colors, layouts, and section order without starting over
- ✅ Cover letter builder included: matching cover letter templates that align visually with your resume
- ✅ Multi-language support: build your resume in your language, not just English
- ✅ Download in PDF and other formats: crisp, print-ready files every time

Beautiful template designs
I recently used Novorésumé to create a professional résumé, and I have to say their templates are beautifully designed, modern, and easy to customize. The interface is very user-friendly, and I appreciated how it guided me through each section with clear suggestions and examples. It definitely helped me structure my résumé in a more polished and visually appealing way.
However, one thing I didn’t realize at first is that you have to upgrade to a Premium account before you can download or access certain templates and features. While the free version lets you build and preview your résumé, downloading the finished product, especially in the modern or creative formats requires a paid subscription.
I completely understand that platforms like this need to sustain their service, but I wish it was made a bit clearer from the start or that there was at least a basic free download option with some limitations. That said, if you’re looking for high-quality résumé designs and don’t mind investing a bit, the Premium plan might be worth it for the professional finish and convenience.
Overall, Novorésumé delivers great quality and presentation, but just keep in mind that most of the best features are behind the Premium paywall.

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback and kind words about our templates and interface!
We really appreciate you highlighting the design quality and user experience, that's exactly what we strive for.
You're absolutely right that we could be clearer about our free vs. Premium features upfront. We're actively working on improving this transparency so users know exactly what's included at each level before they start building.
Our free version does allow you to create and preview your résumé with basic templates, while Premium unlocks all the templates, unlimited downloads, Cover Letter templates, and additional customization options. We've structured it this way to keep improving the platform while offering a genuinely useful free tier.
Thanks again for choosing Novorésumé, and we're glad we could help you create a polished résumé!

Locks you out of all your documents until you pay
I have been using Novoresume for several months with a premium account, paying to work on and refine my resumes.
However, now that I stopped paying, I cannot download them anymore. I have to upgrade to a premium account to get access to my resumes. It seems like a ransomware tactic to me.
I do not want any premium feature anymore, I just want to download the resumes I made and close my account, and it won't let me do that.
Edit: Frankly, I did not understand Novorésumé's answer. I am not asking for a refund and never did. I am only asking to download at least ONE of my CVs as a PDF, without the requirement to pay the premium package one more time. It’s completely fine if I cannot use any of the premium features, or if I cannot edit my resumes anymore. That’s not what I’m asking.

Hi Louis,
Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to clarify a few important points for you and future readers.
Our commitment to students: We offer one of the most generous free tiers in the industry specifically because we understand students' financial constraints. Our Basic plan provides unlimited free access to create, edit, and download resumes - no hidden fees, no time limits. This represents 95% of our platform's functionality, available forever at no cost.
Regarding our billing: We actually don't have auto-renewal - you choose to purchase 1, 3, or 12 Premium months of access upfront. This is specifically designed so people only pay when they actively choose to use our service. Like any purchase, once you've bought and used the service period, refunds aren't available for buyer's remorse (first 14 days are an exception). This is clearly stated in our terms of service.
Why this policy exists: We're a small team providing a valuable service. Our free tier already operates at a loss to support students and job seekers. If we refunded every subscription after the service was already used, we simply couldn't continue offering our extensive free features or maintain the platform.
We notice this is your second review about the same April incident - we already responded to your first review on April 2nd explaining our policy. We encourage anyone reading to try our comprehensive Basic plan first - it's genuinely free and might be all you need. Premium is for those who want additional features and understand they're making a one-time purchase.
We wish you the best in your job search.

Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear about your experience.
It sounds like you may have used some of our Premium features while on the Basic account. These Premium features are clearly marked throughout the platform, and users are always informed when selecting them. The great news is that you can easily switch any Premium elements back to Basic options at any time to download your resume completely free - we designed it this way to offer full transparency so you can see exactly how different templates and features look before deciding.
Regarding pricing, we actually offer some of the most competitive rates in the industry - significantly lower than our main competitors. We're also one of the few platforms that provides a genuinely free Basic account (not just a 7-day trial like many others). When you compare our Premium pricing to hiring a professional resume writer, which can cost hundreds of dollars, our service comes at just a fraction of that cost.
Most importantly, our users consistently report dramatic improvements in their job search success - with interview rates increasing from around 5% to 75% after using our Premium features. When you consider that our tools can actually help you land a job, the investment in Premium features becomes quite insignificant.
We'd be happy to help you navigate the platform to create a resume using only our free Basic features, or assist you in any other way.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team at contact@novoresume.com!

Exploiting
Last month, I paid for this service and used it only once to download my resume. Now, after a month, I just want to update my email address on the same resume, but the system is not allowing me to make even small changes. I haven’t added any new content—just a minor update.
The issue is that even after being a paid customer, the platform is still charging again at the time of download. Charging customers for new templates or additional features is understandable, but in my case, this feels unfair. I already paid ₹1300 just to download my resume once, and now for even a small edit after a month, I’m being asked to pay again. This seems more like exploitation than a fair service

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
We can see how this situation feels unfair, especially when you're simply trying to make a small update like changing your email address. Let us clarify how our model works and offer some solutions.
When your Premium subscription expires, we don't automatically charge you again, instead, your account transitions to our Basic (Free) plan and we also host all your documents/information for Free. This is similar to how a Netflix subscription works: once it expires, you can still access your account and basic features, but premium content requires reactivating your Premium account. In your case, if your resume uses Premium templates or features, the system requires an upgrade to download it again.
However, we have solutions for you: You can either switch any Premium elements (like templates or advanced features) to Basic alternatives and then download your updated resume at no extra cost, or you can edit your current PDF directly using any standard PDF editor like Adobe Reader, since our resumes export as text-based PDF files. This would allow you to update your email address without any additional charges.
If you'd like assistance switching to Basic features or need help with your resume update, please reach out to our support team directly at contact@novoresume.com - we'd be happy to guide you through the process.
Thank you again for your patience and for choosing Novorésumé.
