Outstanding experience with Mac and Jonathan on Classic Scottish Ridges expedition. Both guides were excellent, supportive and knowledgeable. We felt safe and well looked after. We were provided with all the information, routes and gear needed and talked through every step of the climb gaining experience and confidence for the future adventures.
I could not recommend it more!

Just completed the Nomad jungle expedition to Borneo and it was an amazing experience, far exceeding my expectations. The trip was made even better by a great group of people, the stunning location and expert knowledge from the local guides who gave an opportunity to see the jungle through the eyes of the people that call it home. If you want to experience the jungle then this trip is definitely worth doing....thanks Mac!

First expedition, and already a benchmark for everything that follows.

I’ve done a fair amount of jungle trekking over the years, but the first NOMAD expedition set a standard I hadn’t expected. From the moment the trip began it was clear this wasn’t a packaged tour dressed up as adventure — it was the real thing, thoughtfully put together by people who genuinely know the jungle.
The organisation was excellent throughout: logistics handled smoothly, nothing left to chance, and the kind of quiet competence that only shows when things go right.
The guides were deeply fluent in the jungle in a way that made every hour out there feel like a masterclass. Flora, fauna, navigation, shelter — they had it all, and they shared it generously.
Food was a particular highlight. We foraged almost every evening, and what ended up on the fire was genuinely superb — fresh, flavourful, and deeply satisfying in a way that only food earned through the landscape can be.
Alongside that, we were taught real survival skills and traditional jungle crafts that I’ll carry long after the trip fades into memory.
The perfect balance of genuine adventure and time to breathe and absorb it all.
And then there was the final day — floating back into the village on rafts we’d built ourselves. That moment alone was worth the trip.
Huge credit to the whole team. Warmly recommended to anyone ready for the real thing.

Another great experience with Nomad. I’ve just completed a two day climbing course in North Wales and it was perfect. Well organised and ran. We did two incredible climbs in ideal conditions. I learnt a huge amount and gained valuable experience for summer alps climbs. Thanks Mac, Kasia and Nomad 👍🏻👍🏻

Great overnight trip in the Cairngorms. Excellent comms in advance, clear planning at the outset and great execution of adaptations in response to changing conditions and the abilities within the group. Friendly and informative instruction, learned, and employed, a range of new winter skills and took a lot away from the experience Thanks guys.

I attended a 1 day winter skills course in the Cairngorms, ran by Nomad for 999Re:set. Phil the instructor took us through the planning phase, checking the latest weather and avalanche reports to finalise our route. We were able to confirm what the reports had predicted for the location throughout the day and learn skills to manoeuvre safely in the mountains. Had a great day and would recommend them.

Nomad ran a winter skills day for our charity, 999 RE:SET, and absolutely nailed it. Content and delivery were perfectly judged, and Phil was superb—professional, knowledgeable, and great fun. The whole group were buzzing by the end of the day.

As the founder and trustee of 999RE:SET, I had the privilege of joining our one‑day Introduction to Winter Skills course with Nomad Mountaineering on Saturday 21st February in the Cairngorm mountains — and it was an outstanding experience from beginning to end.

Our instructor set the tone immediately: professional, calm, highly skilled, and an exceptional teacher. They brought the whole group together with ease, created a supportive learning environment, and moved at a pace that kept everyone engaged and confident. The balance of instruction, hands‑on practice, and safety awareness was spot on, and every participant came away feeling more capable in winter conditions.

Everyone attending had a brilliant time. The day was not only educational but genuinely uplifting — the kind of experience that strengthens confidence, builds community, and leaves a lasting impact. For a charity focused on the wellbeing of emergency responders, that means a great deal.

Nomad Mountaineering delivered far more than a course; they delivered an experience rooted in expertise, patience, and genuine care. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough, and I’m deeply grateful for their support of 999RE:SET and the people we serve.

Just finished up another winter skills course in the Cairngorms with Mac. Had a big first day up Ben Macdui and digging snow holes before a second lower day avoiding the wind and learning a variety of winter skills. Mac is great at making everyone feel safe, while also making it challenging enough that its rewarding. I’m sure I will be back to do another course in the future.

Mac is the man!! His knowledge, expertise, and above all..patience is second to none. I appreciated his thoroughness, focus on safety, and checking in with the members of the group for understanding. While teaching mountaineering is an incredible skill that Mac is unmatched in, his people skills are right up there with it. He made me and the group I was with feel empowered and strong while keeping it lighthearted, as Mac is great at cracking jokes. Thank you for an unforgettable winter experience in the Cairngorms mountains!!

I had a great weekend in the Cairngorms with Nomad. The expertise and professionalism of the Nomad team were exceptional.
I had a truly epic weekend in spectacular scenery and saw the Scottish winter mountains at their best and worst but at all times I felt I was in safe hands as safety was the absolute and only priority.
Every one was treated with respect no matter what their experience level at all times throughout the trip.
I learnt a lot as throughout I was given detailed explanations of weather forecasts, required kit, route planning etc
I would highly recommend Nomad to anyone looking for an awesome mountain experience.

Recently did a Winter Skills course in the Cairngorms and it was an experience. Despite terrible weather, I felt completely safe with George throughout the 3 as he explained his reasoning behind every decision he made and he was always on hand for any questions and checking up on everyone regularly.

When the weather did clear up, I felt I learned a lot from both George and Mac, both technical skills and weather and conditions knowledge.

This is the second trip I've done with Nomad and I'm looking forward to, hopefully, many more and would recommend them to anyone.

This was my first winter camping and mountaineering experience and Mac with George absolutely delivered! Amount of care they put in is amazing. George was constantly checking up on me although my tent was far away and he had to walk fair distance just see if Im okay.
Both George and Mac answered every question in detail and took safety at a very high level.
If I ever have to trust my life with someone it definitely will be George and Mac. Can’t recommend enough!

I just finished a 2-day mountaineering course with Nomad over the weekend and it was absolutely amazing. This was my third time booking with them, and once again they completely delivered. The guides were genuinely top tier - incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and professional, while also making the whole experience fun and confidence-building. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone, and I’ll definitely be booking again.

We’ve now done a few trips with Nomad, including a recent mountaineering trip in Scotland, and they’ve been exceptional every time. My partner and I already have a fair amount of experience in the mountains, but with Nomad and their team we’ve been able to access places and have experiences that would otherwise be well beyond our skill set. Incredibly professional, knowledgeable and supportive throughout. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing 3-day Highlands adventure with Mac!
We booked with Nomad for 3 days, mentioning our hope to explore the Cairngorms and summit Ben Nevis. Mac planned the perfect itinerary based on the weather conditions. He incorporated our wishes, added Glen Coe, and created an experience that was more than we could have wished for.

MOST importantly, as it was my first time mountaineering, Mac made me feel completely at ease and comfortable pushing my limits in a safe environment. I learned so much invaluable knowledge and skills. Highly recommend Nomad and “Mountain Mac”!

Landscape of Glen Coe and then wrapped things up with some Abseiling… Turns out Mac even reserved great weather for us!

We couldn’t have asked for a better guide to teach us! Mac was great company, knowledgeable, taught us a bucket load and importantly kept us novices safe!
