The receptionist was very efficient and enjoyable to talk with. We did not have a reservation and ended up with a car within our budget in 15 min. Great services !

Extremely disappointing experience from…
Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish.
We reserved an SUV with this company well in advance. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle, we were told our reservation had to be cancelled because we did not have an International Driving Permit. This requirement was not clearly disclosed during the booking process. In fact, the first page of our voucher only stated that a valid driver’s licence was required, while the IDP requirement appeared only in the fine print on a later page.
After speaking with the manager, they decided to make an “exception” and allow us to rent a vehicle without an IDP. The exact same situation was happening to another customer at the next counter, and they were given the same “exception.” By then, however, the SUV we had reserved was no longer available. We were given a smaller vehicle instead—one that did not even meet our reservation, as it was a standard transmission rather than the automatic we had requested. Despite receiving a lower-category vehicle, no price adjustment or partial refund was offered.
The biggest issue occurred when we returned the car.
Unlike our friends, who rented another vehicle from the same location and had a full inspection completed with a signed condition report before leaving, no inspection whatsoever was performed on our vehicle at pick-up. We even recorded a video of the car ourselves as a precaution.
When we returned the vehicle, an employee conducted an extremely detailed inspection using an LED light and claimed to have found a scratch that was not visible during normal viewing. We had no accident or incident whatsoever during the rental period, yet they immediately claimed we had caused the damage and withheld our €800 security deposit.
Without a documented inspection at the time of pick-up, they have no way of proving that this scratch did not already exist before we received the vehicle. It is difficult to understand how customers can be held responsible for alleged damage when the company failed to document the vehicle’s condition before handing over the keys.
Overall, the experience was frustrating and unprofessional: unclear rental requirements, failure to provide the reserved vehicle, no compensation for the downgrade, inconsistent procedures, and a damage claim unsupported by a documented pre-rental inspection.
I cannot recommend this company based on our experience and would strongly encourage future customers to thoroughly inspect and record every inch of the vehicle before leaving the lot—and insist on receiving a signed condition report before accepting the car.
When i rented with this company they…
When i rented with this company they said because I never put my full name the booking I had wouldnt be accepted on their system so I had to book again directly so firstly I ended up paying more than the original booking, then they charged me an extra day because they never read my return flight ticket properly and to top it off I never got my deposit back, after emailing them several times, they claimed they had sent it but it never arrived, triple scammers, use a different car company because they sure know how to scam tourists!!
Avoid this place
Avoid this place! We have rented cars in Italy and around the world from something like 20 different car rental shops during the past ~15 years and never have experienced such an outright scam.
When picking up the car it was the usual selling of the insurance, which we usually dont take. This time the insurance would have been ~50% on the rental price. When we declined the offer the customer service turned quickly from friendly to aggressive. They also insisted we sign the contract explaining the current condition of the car without being able to check the car. As I explained to him that I want to check the damages before signing I finally got the instructions how to find the car on the lot.
The customer service person came out to smoke a cigarette as I was returning from doing the check and he said to me ”If you take videos and I am in them you are going to be in a very bad place”. The feeling I got from him he didnt mean legally.
Then upon returning the car we were informed that there is a scratch literally the size of a needle head and we have to pay 180€ for the ”damages”.
Usually car rental shops have a minimun tolerance for scratches that ”dont count”. Can be some centimeters depending on the shop. This ”damage” is measures in millimeters if not less.
Also a damage like that (rock flying to the windshield) is common to happen and I know from experience that the driver will notice it. This time we didnt notice it happening. The damage was probably on the car when we got it, but it was so small we must have missed it upon checking (mind you we needed to fight for the right to check the car before signing in the first place).
TLDR: avoid this rental if you are unwilling to put up an additional +50% for insurance, otherwise expect a fee for microscopic damages which were probably on the car already when you got it.
Hired a SUV to fit 4 passengers and 4…
Hired a SUV to fit 4 passengers and 4 suitcases. Arrived at the Venice airport in 30+ degree heat. To be told by a not so nice receptionist that the car we booked wasn’t available and wouldn’t be big enough for our suitcases. I said well we need the space for bags, for her to respond with you can upgrade for extra, 170 euro extra. With a 3/4 hour drive I had enough with the conversation not going anywhere. She didn’t even want to look at my booking and point blank refused to give an explanation why the car wasn’t available and just said you have to pay for an upgrade for a much large vehicle. Very bad service indeed, booking.com as well did not help in this situation. I would avoid this company as they have you by the b*lls a when you need a car you just have to pay to get to where you are going.

SCAM and unfair practises...
I agree with the many reviews stating that this is not a fair company.
When we picked up the car, it already had more than 25 documented damages, including numerous dents and scratches. There were so many marks on both the vehicle and the damage report that it would have taken an unreasonable amount of time to verify and match each one.
Upon returning the car, a young employee carefully inspected it with a very bright light and eventually pointed out a minor scratch on the front bumper—one of many existing scratches—claiming that this particular one was not listed on the original report.
I told him that this was ridiculous and felt like a standard tactic to generate additional charges. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to argue. I made it clear that I disagreed with his assessment, but he proceeded anyway. When asked to sign on his tablet, I simply scribbled on it to indicate that I did not accept the claim and told him to continue with the process as we had to leave. Despite this, the report later stated that I had agreed.
This experience reinforced my impression that Noleggiare does not treat customers fairly. Even though the rental initially cost less than other companies I frequently use for business travel, I would rather pay more and deal with a company that operates transparently and fairly.
Do yourself a favor and avoid Noleggiare. Based on my experience, I would not rent from them again.
Scam artists!
Scam artists!! DO NOT USE
Do not use this company. Yes they are initially cheaper.......until you look at insurance! Then they are dearer, plus if you do not take additional insurance (lots of pressure there), they will ensure they charge you something for non existent damage when you return it. We hired via an agent who told us we where covered fully comp only to be told by the Noleggaire rep at Sardinia airport, that "they always say that and its rubbish". So apparently there where scratches on the top of the wing mirror and despite us not accepting this was damage done by us (just a dirty car essentially)20 euros for damages and 40 euros for insurance, damage and theft management. What an absolutely awful company.
They will take the money off your card weather or not you protest that its not your fault but wear and tear on a car. The photos they sent to us to "prove" the damage, you can't even see anything.
Absolutely disgusting
This company are scammers and thieves…
This company are scammers and thieves !!!!Rented a car at Catania airport. They misled me at check in by saying that a refundable deposit was being taken, but in actual fact the charge was for additional insurance cover, which wasn't refunded. They gave us an absolutely filthy car seat for a 2 month old baby, dangerous to say the lease due to poor immune system at that age. On return of the car they subsequently showed slight damage to the back left wheel, which I proved was not the wheel of the car I rented as the tyre on their photo was totally different from the tyre on the actual rental car!!!! The address on google maps is incorrect and brought us to the wrong car park, resulting in us having to go around the airport looking for their office!!!! When I tried to discuss my issues , the lady was totally rude and ignorant and put down the phone on me saying she had other customers!!!! I also sent a summary of all my issues by email, with no response ....they just dont care !!!!NEVER GO NEAR THIS COMPANY
They tried to scam me
They tried to scam me. When I returned the car, the employee didn't want to accept the return, claiming to be busy. He just said he would look at the car later. Well, while we were waiting at the departure gate for the flight, a claim for compensation of 200e + 80e processing fee came. These would be automatically charged from the deposit. Luckily, I took pictures and a video as soon as I first arrived at the car, and sent the pictures to them. A moment later, I received a confirmation message that they were canceling this claim and that the scratch had already existed before my rental.
Reading these other reviews, I'm sure they try to touch ice with a stick with most customers, and the easiest ones end up paying. And therefore of course the cheaper prices, because real money is wrapped up by scammin customers.
Never again
Never again! It took an hour and a half to pick up the car from Pescara Airport. I had wasted my time doing web check in as they didn't use it! There were only 4 customers in front of me. There were 2 members of staff but only one dealing with the customers and leaving the desk each time for nearly 5 minutes to go over the road to the supermarket car park to pick up each car. The car handover was extremely lengthy.
So - as invited, I gave them a review - a bad one! On return of car I expected to simply hand over the keys as with every other car I have hired from Pescara Airport for over 20 years. But no - I was rudely told to wait - same member of staff. Eventually we went out to check over the car - with a full watering can - pouring water over the wheels etc. She seemed determined to find some damage. There wasn't any. She then confronted me about my bad review - and argued with every point I made. It was unpleasant and intimidating.
I was going to write to their head office - but having read many reviews I realise there is no point.
Do not use this company
Do not use this company.
They will use the slightest delay in your flight to cancel your booking and charge you multiple times the price for a new car.
They do not respond to complaints.
Their staff are disgustingly rude people who are just out to fleece you.
Stick with well known companies. These are criminals and vermin.
Avoid at all costs!
I arrived at Palermo Airport with a valid Full Coverage insurance policy (purchased through DiscoverCars) which explicitly covered all damage, theft, and liability for this exact rental. I presented it at the desk. Staff refused to release the car unless I purchased their own Platinum Protection on the spot, costing me an additional £288.06 I should never have paid.
When I complained, Noleggiare quoted their own T&Cs back at me — which state that additional insurance is "optional and left to the discretion of the Customer." Their staff did the exact opposite of this at the desk.
This appears to be a systematic practice. Read the 1-star reviews here and you'll see the same story repeated over and over. They know customers are stranded at an airport and have no choice but to comply.
I am pursuing a chargeback and have filed a complaint with AGCM. Avoid.
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE - UNFAIR CHARGING FOR PREEXISTING DAMAGE WE DID NOT DO!
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! I HAVE RENTED A 7 SEATER FORD FROM BERGAMO AIRPORT, DIRECTLY AT THE OFFICE. FIRST IT WAS AN INCREASED PRICE THAN REGULAR, BUT WE WERE IN A HURRY AND WE ACCEPTED IT. WE TOOK COMPLETE INSURANCE, AND THE LADY AT THE OFFICE SAID WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, ALL, AND I REPEAT, ALL WILL BE COVERED!
THE BIGGEST TROUBLE WAS WHEN RETURNING IT AT THE PARKING LOT, THERE WAS A MAN AND A LADY THERE, WHEN THEY SAW THE CAR THEY INSISTED TO STAY AND WAIT FOR THEM TO CHECK THE CAR. AND THE MAN WENT DIRECTLY INSIDE, ON THE REAR RIGHT DOOR, AND POINTED DIRECTLY AT SOME PLASTIC COVER ON THE BACK PART OF THE RAILS OF THE RIGHT SEAT, SHOWING A FRAGMENT OF IT, AND THEN HE TOOK OUT FROM THE BACK POCKET OF THE SEAT , THE OTHER PART OF THE PLASTIC, SAYING THAT WE BROKE IT!!! HE WAS VERY DETERMINED, IT WAS EXACTLY LIKE HE KNEW WHAT TO SEARCH FOR!!! ALTHOUGH WE ARGUED WE DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE THAT SMALL PLASTIC CAP WAS ABSENT, AND FOR SUR WE DIDN'T BREAK IT! BUT WE HAD NOBODY TO TALK TO, HE THREATENED WE WILL NOT GET THE REST OF THE DEPOSIT BACK, AND FORCED US TO SIGN WE ACCEPT THE DAMAGE. AND ASKED FOR CASH PAYMENT DIRECTLY TO HIM FOR 60 EUROS!!! FOR A SMALL PLASTIC OF 5 EUROS!! WE FOUND IT OUTRAGEOUS: FIRST WE THINK IT WAS A SETUP, HE KNEW ABOUT THE PLASTIC BROKEN AND CAME DIRECTLY TO IT, HE JUST SUPERFICIALLY INSPECTED THE REST OF THE CAR, AND HE FOUND US TO CHARGE FOR IT, SAYING THAT ONLY IF WE HAD PICTURES WE COULD PROVE WE DIDN'T BREAK IT! THAN, HE REPETEADLY ASKED FOR DIRECT MONEY TO HIM! AND SORRY, FOR A SMALL PLASTIC CAP 60 EURO.....! THAN, WE FOUND THAT THE FULL INSURANCE ACTUALLY IS NOT FULL.... THE INSIDE DAMAGE IS AT OUR RESPONSIBILITY, AND EVEN IF THE ENGIN BROKE OR SOMETHING BROKE AT THE CAR, THEY COULD HAVE CHARGE US FOR IMPROPRER USE OF THE CAR! THIS IS NOT GOOD AT ALL!! WE WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAING! THEY ARE CHEATING AND THEY ARE NOT FAIR! EITHER IS THE POLICY OF THE COMPANY, EITHER MAYBE WAS JUST THAT MAN AND WOMAN FROM BERGAMO AIRPORT PARKING THAT SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR MISBEHAVIOUR WITH CUSTOMERS! BUT THIS IS CHEATING PUTTING UNJUSTIFIED EXPENSES FOR CUSTOMERS! I GUESS IT WAS A PREVIOUS DAMAGE THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT AND MADE US PAY!!! WE HAVE TO FILE COMPLAINT!!!
Con Artist at Termini Rental desk in Rome
We rented the vehicle from them at Train terminal in Rome via Zest Car Rental. The insurance was prepaid and included with reservation. The reservation was at 11am but we arrived about 9:45 am and started the process. The agent was trying to push their insurance and told us to cancel Zest insurance. We refused and the she said since we don’t buy insurance from them the car is not ready and we have to wait 11am, our appt time. Very bad customer service.
They took 180 euros in error & dont reply to messages
1) we were billed 180 euros on return of the car for a minor bodywork problem which we realised later had been present on collection of the car, 2 weeks before. This was confirmed on photos we sent to them. Initially they replied and suggested they would refund us. That was over 2 weeks ago, and they now ignore our messages. I have now sent multiple emails asking for a response - with absolutely no reply.
2) On booking we were told the rental company was on site at Florence airport - but we discovered it is NOT at the airport, when we arrived. There is a 10 minute bus shuttle each way. You need to allow extra time for transfers each way.
3) There was quite a hard sell on collecting the car, to take on their insurance, which we didn't need and would have doubled the cost of the car hire!
Lots and lots of additional charges…
Lots and lots of additional charges they don’t tell you about.
Very aggressive with trying to upsell the insurance (which was €330 for 4 days!)
Ended up paying nearly £300 for 4 days car rental once all the extras got added.
People in front of us also had a delayed flight so arrived late their rental pick up and had to pay again as the agent (think it was in the region of arriving 1-2 hours late only) “couldn’t access their booking as you’ve arrived too late”
A VERY dishonest company--go elsewhere!
Long story short: although they told us our car would be held until we arrived 6 hours late due to a flight cancellation, they turned around and claimed that they held only the "reservation" and not the actual car at the Florence/Firenze Airport. I was then required to pay an extra €500 for an upgrade I never requested. A day later when I originally complained, they told me that the car (not just the reservation) should have been held and that I should be reimbursed the €500 and that I should keep the upgraded car--all I had to do was to send them an explanation. Well despite 5 emails, they never responded! Rentalcars.com intervened on my behalf but that did not seem to bother them! THEY ARE THE MOST DISHONEST CAR RENTAL AGENCY I've ever dealt with in Italy, or for that matter the world! Avoid them! There are many other agencies (e.g., Sixt) that are MUCH more trustworthy.
