The company knew the generator was broken before we boarded
I was one of the guests on a week-long charter of the Lagoon 46 "Uncharted" from NOA Yachting in early September 2026, booked through a broker by a friend and paid in full months in advance.
The short version: the company handed over a yacht knowing its generator was broken, gave us a portable substitute that was unusable overnight, left us without support when things failed, and then did not honour even the small written offer they made at the end.
The longer version:
At handover we were told the installed generator was broken and being repaired. They knew before we arrived - the portable replacement was already on board. It was far too loud and produced too much exhaust to run overnight, so air-conditioning was only available on shore power.
Nights planned at anchor and on buoys became forced, paid marina nights. One hot night at Lopud on a buoy, with no way to run the air-conditioning, was effectively sleepless.
At ACI Korcula an electrical fault cut the air-conditioning at 6pm while we were plugged in at the marina. Our skipper called the base repeatedly that evening - no answer, no call back. It was fixed around midday the next day.
At Polace the shore power failed on our departure morning and, with no working generator, the boat had no backup power at all.
After the charter, the company's complaint handling matched the week: a written compensation offer that was never paid, a disputed damage charge taken off the card holding bond (they never identified which window or cabin was involved, provided only a generic photo that did not establish when the damage occurred, and did not reply to requests for further information), and no replies at all since 8 September.
One bright spot: our broker, Silver Sail, mediated in good faith throughout and covered some of the extra marina costs out of his own pocket. The contrast with the operator says a lot.
