Truly a Taiwanese 小吃 tapas style restaurant!

It's hard to find a truly tapas portion tapas style Taiwanese food here in the UK, one of the key essence of "小吃” is the portion seems small and neat. It's not because people have a small appetite but because we generally love to have a small main carb (dry noodles or rice) per person, and have many small side dishes that everyone else shares.

And the side dishes usually comprise of some braised items which could be meat or tofu dishes, some fermented vegetables, fresh vegetables, braised egg etc, and a soup! So yes this sort of eating habit and style was very hard to find in the UK until Ni Fon Kitchen came along.

It's never about one single large serving, Taiwanese foods essence is about sharing the love of variety of foods with a table full of people you love.

So I'm quite pleased that an authentically Taiwanese restaurant now exists in n.london, so close to me, and whenever I crave these smaller dishes packed with great flavors and found memories of home, I know who I can rely on to deliver just that.

Terrible takeaway experience

Ordered a takeaway here last night. They let the order sit on the side to get cold before calling me to advise it was sitting waiting for me before the collection time that their own website advised.

Taking into consideration that I live directly over the road, I returned back to my flat with a bag of a £55 takeout for 2 people being stone cold and woefully small portions.

Nothing but a disgrace.

Everything is nice except the price

The environment and service is nice, I think it is a good place to drink and have light meal. But you may find disappointing if you are hungry, it's not a restaurant to make you full.

As a picky Asian, I think the food quality is above standard. I will visit again when the amount and price are more appealing. I am really happy to have my first Taiwanese meal in London, quite authentic!

Some products are great

Things I like: chicken feet, pork feet, beef tender
Things I don’t like: as a Taiwanese, I don’t think their beef shank is authentic..and shrimp dumplings by my standards lack flavors.
