It's cool! I use it to check out the latest tech news; there's a lot of great stories on there. I especially like jgrahamc and the other people on the site who make the community what it is.
However, I DON'T like that it's being used as a support forum for Stripe. It should be banned, IMO. Quite frequently people post an Ask HN about an issue they're having with Stripe, it makes it to the front page, and then someone from Stripe actually does something.
This was great when the community was more focused towards news related to software development. Nowadays, it seems that anything strange makes it to the top page, like new species of dinosaurs discovered and whatnot.
