Netweather non-friendly forum

Recently became a member with growing interest in the weather, learning about charts etc. I'd heard rumours about the forum but chose to find out for myself. Wow, talk about if your face doesn't fit and obvious favouritism amongst members. Having posts removed even though they only mention the weather but being told they're 'off topic'. Not a friendly bunch at all. Charts are available elsewhere as are other more welcoming forums. Avoid if you're looking to voice your own opinion on the weather.

Poorly run forums

Difficulty finding your way around the website. Short range forecasts are average, and they offer seasonal forecasts which are invariably wrong. The low point of the site is the winter model forecasts. If the charts are showing upcoming colder conditions, the forum goes into meltdown! If a forum member disagrees, by saying that the model output shows rain instead of snow, then there is very good chance that member would be banned. This happened to me, due to me reiterating that rain was more likely than snow. After I was banned, the rain came. I appealed to be reinstated, mentioning that the rain that I forecast was correct, so why the ban? Their answer was that the ban would remain indefinitely, as I didn’t join in the spirit of the forum! It’s a weather forecasting forum, so all weather should be open for discussion.
The funny thing about the site though, is how cheesy the members are, and if the snowy weather charts end up being wrong and no snow arrives, the forum goes into complete meltdown, with nearly everyone falling out with each other and throwing all their toys out of the pram. Absolutely hilarious!

Shame I can't attach a screen shot of…

Shame I can't attach a screen shot of their website because the current advertising campaign from a third party shows a picture of a woman who has fallen on her back with her legs wide open in front of the camera. Likely AI generated but nonetheless, a distasteful and quite offensive advert which demeans women as either clumsy or sexually provocative. The owners of Netweather are just as tacky as those who advertise on their website.

Not bad overall

Whilst the forecasting isn't the best, I do still find it useful as it gives me a rough idea for the short term. As for the forum, I am frequently visiting it and I enjoy sharing my weather interests and opinions with other members. The only complaint I really have is that some of the threads do tend to go completely off topic at times and mods seldom intervene, thus cluttering up the thread of posts irrelevant to its actual purpose. The forum is great overall and is good for both beginners and experts. People on there are generally friendly and helpful also.

I like the weather radar

I like the weather radar; rain/IR/Vis/lightning. The animation shows the progress and is a good way of guessing what will happen in the next 4 hours. The forecasts seem a bit out of sync with other sites predictions, hence lose a star (or more) for forecasts.

A good site let down by the so-called model output discussion

A good site for free resources and an (unnecessary) subscription option for extras. The forums can be informed but are unfortunately marred by the infamous 'model output' discussion which isn't a model output discussion at all but a fanbase for swivel-eyed cold weather loons daily predicting freezing cold conditions and blizzards around every corner, even when manifestly not showing up in the charts.
It's a pity because the site could be good if the host didn't pander to this nonsense.
